Great video man, very fun! Glad you enjoyed them all to some extent, always nice seeing things that are usually way overhated (Underground, Boom and Prime) get treated a lot more fairly by newer fans that lack the spite of the old ones. I read that you are interested in playing Frontiers and maybe the older games, trust, it's worth it FOR SURE. One of the best legacy franchises in gaming, the lore and story are barely acknowledged by casuals and the mainstream but are very pivotal and constant elements of the series. Definitely don't start with Frontiers tho, it's one of the heaviest entries when it comes to continuity and there will be A LOT of holes for you if you start with it. Get Sonic Origins, it's a collection of the first 4 Sonic games (1, CD, 2 and 3) remastered in one package and it's really cheap. I'll leave below a list of all essential canon games in chronological order if you're interested in going through this wonderful journey in a satisfying way (almost every game that doesn't connect to a standalone show or crossover with other IPs is canon so we're entering the hunders but that's why I'll point out the essentials, number will drop dramatically). There are 3 90s games that introduce series reoccurring characters, those being Knuckles' Chaotix (introduces Vector, Espio and Charmy), Triple Trouble (introduces Fang) and SegaSonic (introduces Ray and Mighty), however I won't include them as essential cause they frankly barely are, the mere knowledge of them originating from these games is enough if I'm being honest. Now the games chronologically themselves: Origins -> Mania -> Superstars -> Sonic 4 -> Adventure -> Adventure 2 -> Advance 2 -> Heroes -> Shadow the Hedgehog -> Battle -> Rush -> 06 -> Rivals -> Riders -> Secret Rings -> Rush Adventure -> Riders Zero Gravity -> Rivals 2 -> Unleashed -> Black Knight -> Advance 3 -> Free Riders -> Colors -> Sonic X Shadow Generations -> Lost World -> Team Sonic Racing -> Forces -> Frontiers -> Mvrder of Sonic the Hedgehog -> Dream Team (Dream Team is sort of a spiritual successor to a game that falls in-between Adventure and Adventure 2 called Sonic Shuffle, and while Shuffle had a surpringly amazing story it is a party game that's not very accessible to new players, it is the sole reason I excluded it, if you go through it or not is in your hands, I recommend its story but not its gameplay) It might look intimidating and overwhelming but it really isn't once you get into it, especially since the majority of these games tend to be 2-4 hours long lol. One game at a time and no rushing and it's very digestible. Btw one of the shows you watched, Prime, is canon to the games, happens sometime after Generations, so technically your journey has already began haha! Interestingly the Freedom Fighters from the Satam series managed to hang on and still exist in the comics for a good long while. They unfortunately finally got axed completely in 2017 when archie comics lost the sonic license due to poor management and an artist/writer that wanted the rights to his original do not steals along with his version of knuckles and his super original creation of evil sonic wearing sunglasses and a leather jacket. The whole situation is wild. The comics are worth checking out, even if it's just a quick look at some youtube videos talking about them.

Although Bunnie & Sally did get a cameo in the background of the Sonic Forces Prequel Comic. Apparently the artist who added that got blacklisted from Sega because of it even though Sega does own the Freedom Fighters (Average Sega Of Japan move, they hate everything from the western side of Sonic)

I live and grew up in rural Australia. I have fond memories as a 4/5 year old child getting the The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog VHSs from the local video store. There were only two volumes/video tapes but I remember how much I loved it and how excited I was to have Sonic Underground on one of the 4 TV channels we had. Rural kids hardly got any good cartoons, only city channels had shows like DBZ, Pokemon, Digimon, etc. It was one of my favourite shows, despite how cheesy it is looking back now. And then before the video store burnt down, I got to see the Sonic the Hedgehog movie/OVA in 1999- Metal Sonic gave me nightmares for weeks! Any chance to include that in a future video/review? Loved this video and I feel like I may have to return to watching some Sonic cartoons that Kid Me missed out on growing up. You have a new subscriber!

Those eyes at the end of SatAm have a funny story, they weren't in the script but the episodes director was requested to throw in a cliffhanger, the storyboard artist behind the scene did in fact intend for it to be Knuckles (which like you said makes sense visually) however the head writer was intending to make it Naugus in season 3

I grew up watching Sonic X in the early 2000s along with playing some of the games and have the most fond memories playing shadow the hedgehog on xbox back then. I like all the shows, I have even dvd's of most of them. When it comes to Sonic boom, I have always had this theory in my head that they're all in their mid 20s and eggman knowing that he can't defeat sonic, still chooses to be where he is just to be a menance. And on sonic prime, While I like the show, Sonic himself acts so weird. He doesn't act like he usually acts in my opinion. I want sonic to be more like Sonic in the games and/or Sonic X, but in prime he acts so unlike sonic in my opinion.

Outta all the Sonic shows I watched growing up (specifically Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Underground and Sonic Boom), I'd say Underground was the one that got me most hooked LMAO I'm not sure why. I just have a core memory of watching as much as I could to see the episode where they finally reunite with their Mum, but I don't think that ever happened? LMAO?? SO LITTLE ME WAS WATCHING IN HOPES FOR NOTHING 😭 But yeah nah yeah, I loved the sonic shows I grew up with. I gotta say, I wish TV channels did what my TV did back in the day, and have a channel dedicated to 80's or retro/obscure cartoons, bc if it weren't for that channel (I watched these in the good ol' early 2010's), I wouldn't be this much into the Sonic series, honestly.

The Sonic x dub is pretty funny but made by 4kids and it cuts and censors a lot of things in the show that have completely different meanings in the sub. I would rewatch the metarex arc in sub if you have time.

I used to watch Sonic Underground as a very little kid, in 2000s back when I wasn’t really allowed to use the internet (not that there was much media to see in my language there lmao) - I liked it but MAN when I watched Sonic X for the first time?? 🤩 to say I was obsessed would be an understatement, I love it and rewatch to this day. It was my proper introduction to the series and it was a great one. Tho once I’ve learnt about the Japanese version I’ve never looked back. I dislike what the English dub did with the series, they literally cut some lore and important scenes. Switching a champagne for salami will forever be funny tho. So yeah, Sonic X is my absolute favorite! I loved Shadow in Prime tho, bro stole the whole show and I think he might be my favorite Shadow of any of the shows.

YES! I KNEW that if you were generous enough to give the dumb Sonic Adventures from 93 a score of 7/10 that you would have to give Underground an 8/10!!! A 9/10 for SATAM after that cliffhanger is fair. Its a great show but not perfect. Sonic X getting a 10/10 is also fair. Sonic is a Japanese property so an anime for Sonic fits so well. Sonic Boom oh boy, its hilarious, but it really messes up all the characters except Amy, they look terrible too. So its a hard one to rank. Sonic Prime is also not amazing but its fine. Definitely better than the 93 Adventures of Sonic.

The Chaos Council really should have been the different versions of Robotnik from the shows (and Snively in the place of Satam Robotnik.) teaming up with game Eggman. Prime was made by the same company that made the old shows too! It should have brought closure to the old shows since they never got full endings. And maybe they could have explained what dimension the Super Emeralds went to and why they were replaced with normal Chaos Emeralds, maybe even having it be explained that some Hyper guardian (maybe Nazo as a bit of Sonic X fan service.) swapped out the Super Emeralds due to how destructive they could’ve been if Eggman got ahold of them. Also Fun fact: The director for Prime really wanted Scratch and Grounder in the show. The company that worked on Prime also owned the old shows. WE COULD’VE GOTTEN ZONIC AND THE ZONE COPS! They aren’t owned by Penders and Slott is open to Sega using him!

We couldnt have any of that becauee SoJ actively hates everything SoA did in the 90s. About the only things they accepted is Robotnik surname and chili dogs. So no, we couldnt have any of that stuff but with how flawed Prime is on a basic writing level, i doubt putting Shapes from Comics We Recognize would fix any of it.
