How Soviet Propaganda Controlled Minds and Shaped a Nation
How does a government create a new national identity after overthrowing its previous regime? After the Russian Revolution, the Soviet Union faced this daunting task. Their answer? Propaganda, art, and media were weapons of mass control, shaping a new national identity and fostering unity. It sounds like science fiction, but this was the reality in the Soviet Union.

Although not a bad topic, this video doesn't seem to aim on it. Right from the start we hear words that repeat throughout the video: 'propaganda' (every country has it to an extent), 'national identity' (the core goal of the union apart from the empire was to make nations equal - Russian was just a lingua franca like English is for us), 'oppressive', 'mass control', and 'totalitarianism' (true, but still - word usage: as I generally have seen in Soviet papers they also distinguish collectivism as more progressful), 'it sounds like science fiction' (yes, since you are sincerely trying to make it sound so). I think this is an interesting topic to discuss upon (how culture changed with the change in ideas), but I don't see discussion here - only that same propaganda, portraying things as obviously bad without explaining. You say 'shape thoughts', 'regime's ideas', but these thoughts are not only of the 'regime'. The revolution could only be won with the public's support. To have the tzar making this legitimate was tried several times (e.g.1905), so legitimacy isn't necessarily what the broader public wants.
