I think Spain future proofing energy supplies with natively produced green energy is why the economy is growing compared to Germany which until 2022 relied on Russian Gas.

It may be exactly 180 degrees other way of what you think... The truth.

I think Spain still buys Russian Gas, and shady deals with oil companies from Venezuela.

Spain has 5 nuclear plants built in the late 1980’s one was just closed recently. By 2035 all of those plants will be closed! I hope they have a replaceable energy source to replace those plants! Cuz rebuilding new plants needs expertise and billions of money! And many years to build one! Imagine to dismantle a plant it took 10 years!
@arnoutbolman507020 күн бұрын
@stevenhombrados1530 thank you for your reply. In the 80 ies, the nuclear technology was quite different from now. These days a "plant" the size of a big suitcase exists. That can run on nuclear waste even. Without heat ! Supersafe, supplies 10.000 homes. Or a big factory.. the price is something like 1 -2 mln. Rwanda africa is being supplied today with these things. I would so much like to see something like this in Spain. Factory name is Nano Nuclear energy. Nu energy or Nucor (?), bmx and rolls royce and Oklo also devellop some seize bigger small nuclear installations. This can put Spain in front in Europe. Without medieval windmills and sol panels. Manufactoring hydrogen will be easy and desalination of seawater as well. They can be built in a few uears and get cheaper by the day..
@stevenhombrados153020 күн бұрын
@@arnoutbolman5070 I agree, but it took 30 odd years to brainwash people to think nuclear is bad. It would take another 30 years to tell the contrary that nuclear is now good for the people. Besides from the standards of political mediocracy the “Peter principle” and corruption they will find ways that it will cost the public coffers billions. You know some types of politicians have high standards of living, since they have no skills or talents after their stint in power. And they prefer living on some remote paradise island!! lol

I was fortunate to be a project manager for an alternative energy desalination project in 1988 that brought me to Tenerife. Sadly, with Brexit, the British contribution is lost. Spain, Greece and Germany are benefiting from the early research.

I can not believe anyone is happy with the rise of these fast "food" chains in Spain. 19 chemicals in 1 portion of fries... These chains take out all the money out of countries, pay almost no tax, deliver all kind of nasty diseases longer term... And the tax paying traditional restaurants are belly up. Spain is starting to run backwards. Also with these non performing "green" projects. Disturbing the energy house hold. Trying to become the next Germany ??😢

5 nuclear plants to be closed by 2035! One already closed in 2023! To rebuild a Nuclear plant it takes billions of money, and most expertise has been lost! So yup same direction as Germany. Btw Spain is the biggest client to Russia and Venezuelan Gas and oil, since Spain lost all access to the Spanish Sahara, oil. And pissing off the Algerians wasn’t the best idea of Pedro Sanchez.

Hey Stu, appreciate your daily effort on these videos. I’m moving from Melbourne to Spain in a couple months. Several factors including your recent list vídeo are making me think Madrid is a better fit over my original plan, Barcelona (which has a few pretty obvious red flags). Especially considering my passion for improving my Castilian Spanish, Madrid is better on paper but is yet to fully click with me. I think my Aussie brain is struggling to comprehend living in a hot yet very landlocked city, I’d be curious to know if you’ve ever felt “trapped” in that sense. Keep up the good content 👍

I think property prices usually reflect the local job market and facilities. If you see an extremely cheap property you might not want to live in that area

Spain is getting fatter; US fast-food is not going to help. However obesity is Spain is 22% versus 35% here in the States (assuming I can trust Google). Weight reduction medicine (injections) are a cash cow for drug companies here. Sorry I missed the live stream. Merry Christmas 🎄

This is why you should avoid AI when it comes to translation: "the upward trajectory" is a literal translation from the Spanish phrase "esta trayectoria a la alza" - if it was a human interpreting the text, it would have been rendered as "the upward trend"

To anybody who says that green energy is not the way forward, they should volunteer to have a fossil fuel power plant built right beside where they live.

I lived by one for 15 years, the only bad side was the smell of the water treatment plant that the refinery had to treat the water. Sometimes the bacteria that eats the oil spoils over ate, and died. …. Now that refinery has closed, and 70 million loss of taxes to the city infrastructures which meant another increase of taxes of all sorts amounting to 15% more in taxes. Increases in car licences increases on carbon taxes on fuel, increases on transport taxes! Electric taxes… just more taxes… and the land turned into luxury condos!! Wait when the poor idiots that bought their condos for 800 K that in ten years the polluted soil shows up! Lol

That's quite a reductive statement. Its not the way forward but I'm not volunteering for anything.

Spain is not a Green Power Powerhouse. It might have loads of solar panels and wind farms but look what's going on at a local level. People dump all their crap into any bin regardless of the instructions. Recycling is nothing. Fly tipping is all over the place and people really don't give a damn. I've driven all over Spain and I see volumes of wind turbines not moving. In Andalucia the river bed is the local rubbish dump.

Where I live in the Asturian countryside, there's a nonprofit offering a cheap co-op WiFi. I work online and it's suits me fine. I know there are plenty of similar organisations throughout the country and they all communicate together in order to make rural areas affordably connected. Also, I've used Starlink in some exceptionally isolated areas overseas and it worked brilliantly, even in dismal weather. Regarding transport, there are plenty of schemes from Spain and the EU to purchase electric bikes and electric motorbikes (moped style). No driver's license required and very handy. They're also fun! Let's face it, this country's weather suits that type of transport, even up here in Green Spain. Plenty of options for those deal breakers. You can make it work ☺️ Merry Christmas everyone! Stu, you're a legend 😊

Boutique coffee shops were the best before STARBUCKS came into being. I remember requesting a certain kind of coffee bean to used for my particular coffee order “Jamaican Blue Mountain.” Now this is next to impossible with these McDonalds of coffee shops popping up everywhere!!!
