Jirachi was not avaible in US copies of the game. Instead, we in the US had a bonus disk with a Jirachi download on it can can be done at the start of the gen 3 games.

At the start of the game? That's even better. I do havd Channel and havd 'beaten' it. Now all I need is to finish Ruby and Sapphire, but I'm not going to shiny hunt Jirachi. Maybe RNG manip one day.

@@skoottietv@TheCommanderFluffy The Entei Movie had the 1st special where Ash's Pikachu met up with the Pichu Bros. and they hung out for the day. I think there was another Pichu Bros. Episode in Pokemon Chronicles but that was much later. The special featured in Pokemon Channel is different and the final part is actually a refined GameCube tech demo

Carried that on into my adult life and finally got my jirachi a few years back. so to my understanding you dont have to beat channel again to send another jirachi, but the check to decide whether it is shiny or not is already set(I could be wrong on this), so to reroll for another shiny you would have to play it again atleast from a save before beating the game, you may be correct, but this is my assumption based on the information I found
@heiknbacon5758
@heiknbacon5758 10 ай бұрын
@skoottietv Are you saying that the Jirachi personality values are already determined in Pokémon Channel and not when it's transferred to Sapphire?
@95josh95
@95josh95 10 ай бұрын
@@skoottietvthat’s not correct, you can rng manipulate the jirachi to be shiny (im a blisy has video on it), you only need to complete channel once but need to restart ruby/sapphire and complete the elite 4 to get a new jirachi, however it’s been found that you can manipulate the gba save to remove the jirachi along with the flag and can receive another one.

before everyone else comments this, jirachi is technically a mythical, not a legendary theres a few differences, completely negligible as they both are quite powerful but theres a classification between them
@skoottietv
@skoottietv 10 ай бұрын
thanks for clarifying :)
@thoopsy
@thoopsy 10 ай бұрын
The classification difference is more recent than Generation 3, so even if Jirachi is a mythical now, it's not incorrect to call it a Legendary in this game. As well, all Mythicals ARE Legendaries. It's a Square Rectangle situation. I argue that a correction is not required.
@135forte
@135forte 9 ай бұрын
Previously, the primary difference was that Mythicals were distributed via in person events, this was the reason given for banning them in VGC even when normal Legendaries were allowed. A lot of Mythicals are now catchable without special events, let alone in person events, so that distinction isn't relevant anymore. Iirc, they aren't even flagged differently in the game files, unlike Ultrabeasts, which are flagged in a weird not-Legendary-but-banned-if-Legendaries-banned way in some of the games.
@polocatfan
@polocatfan 9 ай бұрын
honestly the difference between the two is so slim these days. mythicals used to only be distributed or obtainable via distributions/spin off games. but recently multiple ones have been obtainable in games like with Deoxys in ORAS, and a lot of them in Legends Arceus (and Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl I believe.)
@SgvSth
@SgvSth 9 ай бұрын
@@thoopsy It is more complex than that. The Legendary and Mythical categories existed from Generation I in Japan, but for some reason was combined to just Legendary outside of Japan. It took until Generation IV for International releases to start to split them in side games, but it didn't actually happen until Black and White released worldwide outside of Japan.

@8:00 when you are wondering what was going through the devs head when they made this game... I have a pretty good idea I think. 1. Hikikomori's. What do they do all day? Basically nothing but watch TV, play games maybe, collect things they bought from those series. What do you do in this game. Exact same thing. It even comes with that 'fateful day when hikikomori is actually needed and only they can help.... trope'. The game is literally made for pokemon enthusiast hikikomori's. 2. Children. Believe it or not, they aren't all that intelligent. Problem solving is not their strong suit all the time. Some kids, frankly, are just dumb. But they need something they can enjoy too that resembles the games their slightly smarter friends and family might be playing. So, you give them Pokemon Channel. A game that they literally cannot lose at, or shouldn't at least, and allows them to be useful to their friends and family due to the pokemon they can trade from succeeding at the arbitrarily easy tasks. That's about the only way I can make sense of what you are talking about in regards to making sense of whatever was going through the Dev's head. It has to be one of those two things, or both. I think probably both, because the hikikomori similarities are pretty 1:1.

These are the kinda games that should be app games not neutering a game like DMC and chopping up bits for monetization and diluting the OG experience. I remember getting MvC2 on phone and it was just the game. I’m sure now it would be “MvCrevenge with only 6 characters at the start with a gatcha and like 28 gear slot system and 7 in game currency’s.”
