Notes / Addenda: 03:15 The reason Lemming puts the skill slider back down is because of the fight at 17:00. 14:08 Earlier, Rakeesh will also stop you to sleep as he's escorting you to the Simbani village. 14:47 A point of clarification: you can ALWAYS run away, you just normally have to wait a few seconds until the worm shows up. Using the glitch featured allows to leave early. 22:08 It's possible to speed this up a little by increasing the skill slider back up to max.

It's fascinating that one of my biggest contributions to the QFG series has been through discovering a glitch that I almost never use because it isn't applicable to the categories I prefer to run (usually 100% for each class). I didn't see DDD's game-skipping effects immediately. In addition to the "not passing time" effect described in the video, it completely prevents you from getting random encounters. Devastating to a fighter 100% run, but even the other classes need to visit the lost city screen to free Manu from the cage. The total loss of random monsters prompted me to reset my run before fully exploring the consequences. We discovered the free trip to the Lost City when Misterprmiller played with the glitch later.

While this subgenre of youtube documentary is definitely getting more and more popular, you're one of the only people actively pushing the format forward by including the interviews. It's a detail that vastly improves the delivery and professionalism of the whole video, and I'm really hoping it starts a trend to get the subjects more personally involved in telling their own stories.
@OneShortEye2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'd really like to see more of that, too. I've watched some speedrun docs where I was having trouble keeping track of who was who because all I had was a name. To be fair, it takes a lot of time. For the three runners in this video, I interviewed each of them for about an hour. Then there's the time going back through it and finding the choice quotes, etc.

Maybe I misheard, but a small point of clarification. You can run away from the demon worm even casually. You just have to wait a few seconds for the game to let you. @MisterMiller2 жыл бұрын
We wouldn't use the fan-remake if it didn't have that all important limited-license that was granted by Vivendi/Activision at the time that allowed them to do it and release it for free. :) Because it has that license, it is approved for runs.
@LemmingRuns2 жыл бұрын
It's the faster option for runs through all five games, but I strongly recommend you check out the original QFG2's speedruns, so many great skips and VERY optimized.
@DavidKraftIshihama2 жыл бұрын
The multi-minute wait in Raseir is a major obstacle to QFG2EGA runs. In the best case scenario you're spending 5.5 minutes dealing with the fact that your inn room doesn't open until night, and it's hard for EGA to compete when the remake has that wait cut out completely.
@DavidKraftIshihama2 жыл бұрын
I missed your previous comment about the other character classes. For QFG3, the Thief is chosen primarily because of how little they have to deal with in the end game. Mike Tyson is their only major obstacle. The fighter doesn't have a way to skip the first blue demon fight AND has to deal with a gargoyle fight in the final screen AND is unable to use magic in combat. Fighter can deal with all of this but they do end up a fair bit slower in the process. And wizard. Poor poor wizard. The amount of creativity that goes into the wizard run is fascinating, but: The wizard can't beat the game without the Summon Staff spell. Which means they have to find the orchid in the jungle WHILE DDD IS ACTIVE, go back to Tarna and walk with Rakeesh AGAIN and activate DDD a second time so that time will pass until night so that they can dip the orchid in the pool of peace at night. They get their magic wood, go back to Tarna, get the Summon Staff spell, then walk with Rakeesh again and activate DDD a THIRD time.
