@@peppy619 First you find glitches by doing wonky stuff for fun, eventually you find something that works. Then you start going around the route of the run and see if you can apply that odd glitch you found somewhere. It just comes down to how you approach a game. Most people would just go about the game as intended, more or less, while others like to see what they can do to break the game.

LOL, I ultrahanded the recall shrine clock thing during my first casual playthrough, so when I was watching the speedruns, I didn't understand why they weren't ultrahanding it, because I thought it'd be faster that way.

It's not that they didn't think to, it was that with their current speed, the clock was too far away to be grabbed. Only when they were able to go fast enough were they able to get the cycle at a point where they could grab and align it.

For the ultrahand shrine it actually has gone through a lot of change just to revert back into the old strat. Also the intro section was cut from the run for a few days because it was intended percent and then the new skip was found so now the intro is back in the run. The evolution of this speedrun has been very interesting. I thought the intro had been settled, but then a new skip is discovered. I don't think TotK will ever get close to BotW any% times, but I'm clearly capable of being wrong.

From what I've gathered watching these runs, the very last hit on the dragon is also a potential ~10 second time save/loss. If you finish the fight while standing on the dragon, the screen fades to black for substantially longer for some reason. Runners have to land the last hit while backflipping off the dragon's head to avoid the time loss, which is not easy.

Yeah. It would be cool if you loaded the game, did some complex mix of button pushes, warped to Ganon, then did some exploit to 1 shot him. But on all seriousness, I start to dislike when the speed runs get so glitchy that they are nothing like just playing through the game quickly. Instead they just glitch around the game.

Something not mentioned - most speedrunners will try and stay full HP so that on the final dragon hit, they'll backflip off and use a sword beam to finish the kill. It saves an 8 second load time according to Player 5.

I'm pretty sure I saw a 44:33 earlier today, which given that this video claimed the WR is 44:48 means that it was slightly outdated _before it was even uploaded!_ Most things were just better optimization, but the Demon Dragon fight had a really cool strategy that was attempted in that run, but didn't quite succeed, and that this video never mentioned, which is to skip the final cycle by backward-jump-slashing straight from the final of the 4 targets straight to the dragon's head.

I'm pretty heavily invested in this speedrun and actually the player who got the wr (player1) has held the wr pretty consistently and has improved the WR twice since gymnasts 44:48. First he got a 44:43 and then he got a 44:33. There's a new wr every 1-2 days its such a fun community to follow.

My favorite part about these speedruns is that from an in game perspective, link wakes up and goes and kills ganon within like 2 days, i can just imagine raurus bewildered expression as the severely injured 25 year old whom he gave his arm to annihilating the foe he was sealing away for millennia in a span of less than 48 hours, violating every law of nature set forth by the goddess in the process, all without even wearing the complimentary pants that he left in the cave

Rauru is the first king of Hyrule and an ancient godlike being who still failed to take down Ganondorf with the sages on his side and could only imprison him. Link wakes up after a full arm transplant and in less than an hour slam-dunks Ganondorf twice, then clowns him again in dragon form *which is said by that very race of gods to be a forbidden ultimate form of their power* And then spends the next 400 hours of gameplay committing war crimes against Koroks who just want to play with their friends Speedrunner Link is infinitely more terrifying than anything Ganondorf could ever dream of

Hi! Wanted to share an autobuild tech I found. Normally, you can only rotate an item in 45 degree iterations. I found a way to get custom angles. If you bend a build (say attach stablizers on it) and attach something an attached edge is bent, it’ll save at the current angle. So the next time you autobuild it, it’s default angle will be bent. Probably not useful for running but it’s cool. Lmk if this is helpful or if someone already found it!

Dont gotta be over water for bomb dupe. If you are on regular ground or even mineru, just do two at a time. works for me everytime.

I do like watching speedruns and I was really curious to see how speed Runners would do the final part where you go through the whole underground to eventually fight the final boss. I don't know why I wasn't expecting them to clip through the wall. I kind of wanted to see how they would do it if they didn't clip through the wall but I guess I'll have to wait for a 100% run to actually see that. But its cool that it's been only two months and the speed run is already this low. :)

I believe you're looking for a no major glitches run (NMG), if that helps with your search Though I doubt that's going to be a priority for any of the routers or runners for a loooong time. Maybe an early speedrun would do it, but if you're looking for optimizations I'm not sure they've looked for any. Maybe just skip through with bomb shield jumps?

I mean being based so heavily on BotW it was never going to be difficult for people to find glitches as a lot of the setups are very similar with same functions and similar powers. So sick, 250hrs in and I see no reason why I won’t be putting 6-800 into TotK like I did BotW, would just be nice if master mode came sooner than later

3:20 this is not the normal pressing of Y+B at the same time…? cause I tried this earlier (on 1.1) and can’t do it. was just ridin on a wing and instead of duplicating extras, it was dropping them off the wing & I would have the same amount I started with. it doesn’t seem like this is the same as the one done while paragliding?

I‘m kind of unhappy that main speedrunning doesnt focus on the latest version. Imo speedrunning was always to get the best time with what the devs intended to use (so not other tools). Staying with one version opposites that thought, because the devs wanted to patch out stuff. Following this logic you could just break any game if you have your hands on some alpha or beta versions. Also this somewhat excludes new runners, as it is hard and expensive and becoming even more harder to get your hands on first release cartridges of the game.

So..., Sorry in advance if this has already been found, and I'm not sure how helpful this could be for speedruns (if at all,) but I haven't seen anyone talking about it, (though to be honest I'm not very in touch with the Speedrun community.) I found that, by holding out a weapon that you can spin attack with, (or a one handed weapon) and then spinning the left stick 720 degrees, (or two full circles (similar to making Mario spin for a spin pound in Mario Odyssey,)) and quickly pressing the attack button, you can activate a base, level one spin attack, without charging it up (yes, this still takes stamina, but in my experience it is marginally quicker.) By chaining this together in quick succession, you can enter a state where you are constantly spin attacking, or at least until you run out of energy. Again, sorry if this is a repeat tech find, but thought I'd mention it just in case it hasn't been found and documented.
