The Modern Martial Artist

Күн бұрын

Errol Spence Jr. is one of the great boxers of the modern era. One of the fighters that dominated all competition to the point where they develop an air of seeming invincibility for years and years. And that’s why it’s so incredible that he soon will be finally facing the man who can be said to hold the exact same accolades, Terrance Bud Crawford. This is one of the biggest fights boxing has seen in decades, and some time next month we will get to see one of these warriors taste defeat for the first time in their professional careers.

I disagree that there is an air of invincibility surrounding Errol. He always had vulnerabilities it's jut that he's always so dominant that nobody has really ever been able to capitalize on the slight but noticeable mistakes he makes. It's not just has inactivity and accidents that make Bud the betting favorite. Bud is absolutely the guy to make Spence pay for any minor hiccup he normally gets away with because he's so strong and tough.

@morgangreen2601
@morgangreen2601 Жыл бұрын
You can say the same for Bud though. Bud is a slow starter as he picks up on the opponents' tactics and divises a snap strategy. This opens him up to losing rounds against a improvisional and combo heavy volume striker like Errol. Now, I wont ignore Bud's great footwork, but Spence will likely be advancing out the gate putting Bud on his backfoot, and possibly frustrating Bud into a war that Spence is ready for.

I don't think Bud is a slow starter. My point is more that he starts taking big risks right away and that gets him caught more than usual. Mayweather was actually the same way imo, he had a harder first few rounds than necessary so that the rest of the fight would be much easier.

Crawford gonna fimd the holes Spence. Spence reminds me of Duran with arm frames like Foreman. Crawford going to wait for that jab frame for counter. He is going to slip inside and catch Spence because he is used to loading his punches.

Countering off a frame is a very valid tactic. It's how Dekker's beat a lot of those Muay Thai fighters and how a lot of them have been getting slept the last several months against western fighters. That's a very good point and you may be right, I'll be watching for that now. But Spence does have the skills to quickly back off and turn that same frame into a sweep or parry. The more I think about this fight the more I have no idea whose going to win haha

The sad thing is that there are plenty of great potential matchups in boxing right now. This is probably the best of them. This will be a great fight . But people need to know that when two great fighters fight , it becomes a game of patience , often times can be a boring fight ti those who don’t get the mindset part of a fight . I predict that Spence will apply pressure, which will be to Crawford advantage who loves to counter punch aggressors, Spence will adjust and let the fight come to him and we will see his greatness unlock . Overall I don’t know who will win , but I can predict a win from who ever is more patient and adjust fast.

No one is talking about the potential size difference in this fight, when they are standing next to each other in the ring it very well could 2 or 3 weight class difference. Which is all fine and dandy if Crawford is that much better than Spence and if Spence wasn't a banger who doesn't mind getting in the trenches. But Spence loves being in the trenches, he relishes it and I don't think the skill difference is that much. I think Spence's love of battle and size win the day, the skill is too close to call.
