"I followed up my dreams and I had a little bit of luck." I think what he said is what we all need to have in our minds. We need to be confident and passionate about our future, at the same time stay humble for a little bit of luck to come.

This was inspiring. As an older college student I must admit that I will be researching Starbucks as a possible company to work for upon graduation, if they continue to follow H. Shultz vision. This was awesome thanks for posting it.

They got lucky and had massive expansion just as Friends was making hanging around in a coffee shop trendy .

It's funny you say that - I've always thought Friends added to our coffee shop culture - sit in a coffee shop all day and it's sooo cool, haha. And because people are generally mindless they want to do the same as they see on TV. I'm sure Starbucks would not have had such huge growth if it wasn't for Friends. Well spotted.

Shareholders who work at Starbucks love it, and love Mr. Shultz. I think that speaks for itself.

All public forum venues need to be aware of the way they mike presenters. This video, like most, is 75% effective because people normally do not articulate very well. The few videos that do get the mikes right really stand out. Why are they so rare?

@tennis12456 It is very easy to blame other people for an individual's error and mistakes. What really defines a person is the willingness to take an critic's hate and discontent and prove them wrong. And being able to admit when the individual is wrong

I think the only reason people hate on him is because they are jealous of where he is at. This is a man of extraordinary vision, talent, tenacity, and creativeness. Even if he were the biggest scumbag in the world you can't take away those qualities from him

you need to understand one point here, it is not about coffee and high quality coffee delivered to middle class with good customer service, it about how much money they can suck out from this business, they will build zillion coffee shops as longs as they make profit, and nobody will (and already do not) care about quality and the rest, this was just mean (marketing strategy) to achieve result. they arn't worried if they will become another macdonalds or not, they even want it for more moeny

Hate to break it to you, but "queers" are not just welcomed but targeted by McDonalds in advertising campaigns. They actually spend money to try to get them to eat in their restaurants. They also have a programme for gay employees called "The McDonald's Gay, Lesbian & Allies Network". Where are you going to eat now? Your options are getting smaller every day.

I don't know how can you say that you value your employees and pay them min wage and hire them part-time. You discriminate older people and almost never hire anyone over 30 . On top of this your food is full of GMO, your milk is with rBGH, your coffee beans have cancer causing Acrylamide.
