At the end still all testing. Example of a problem. We should not be detected when hidding behind rocks or inside holes. Currently system ignoring all that. And components with base line number when offline. Thats another stupid thing. Finaly see someone making a video about . Being flying a eclipse without guns or Shields for months

Has CIG ever discussed wether planet environments will affect stealth signatures? BTW great video!

Can't remember if they've discussed it specifically, but it seems like a logical step based on what they've done so far.

Do the coolers affect IR emissions? I know changing them does nothing on performance or EM, but nobody says anything about IR 🤔

Not sure if that's always the case, but we've seen that Suppress IR is lowering your IR signature on your MFDs, but other ships targeting the suppressed ship were viewing different IR values (like it's not suppressed). It may be a visual bug where it activates it for you but doesn't really do what it should do.

I had a lot of fun testing this out back in 3.9, I used an Eclipse without guns and with upgraded components though I disabled my shields to minimize EM. While not moving my EM was I believe like 299 so I would barely register to enemy NPCs. The only bounties I had trouble with were Sabres because I would have to get in closer to target lock on them, and they could catch me a lot faster than I could get a missile lock and I was done. These formulas are great!

I am not a fan of the new stealth model. The stealth fighters (Ghost and Sabre) seem like they are too easily detected. Most fights are going to happen within 5km. But once they are within range, the military ships can easily pop them. The shields don't hold up to combat for very long and if the stealth ship cant drop off the radar fast enough, it's game over.

Wow, okay. So they need to make pinging a server side thing then. Something like hey server please load the ships I _should_ be able to see in my ping area.

I got a Sabre Comet, love that ship. I have 2 different loadouts for it. One for Stealth and One for Combat. Stealth, once they get the finder details worked out will definitely be an advantage. 💯👍

Hmm... What's the effect of multiple radars on board? Also, from experience on my Gemini, I can detect small and medium fighters at like 5-10km range, usually NPC but think there might've been some players as well. However, small and medium fighters only have these values at around 2 000 or so, right? So I shouldn't be detecting them before they're at ~1.5km by that equation. Unless... Gemini has 4 radars. 4x0.75 = 3, 3x2 000 = 6km so... radars are just linear?

The multiple radars don't matter. In each crew station you can only use one radar at a time. We believe each turret is given its own radar.

Stealth mechanics dont make a lot of sense to me because i feel like every1 would run stealth loadouts on stealth ships with laser cannons and be able to shoot down most enemies at around 3500 range and they cant even target them until they are within 1900 or 2900 range so why is this not happening? I went on erkul and used your formula to do a complete stealth build with fixed S3 Quarreler that are not over clocked and the EM 3903x.5 = 1954 or x.75=2931 so 1st shot with 1296 + 2 size 4 pathfinders IV 11757 = 13,053 on alpha strike i dont even think a arrow can survive that even if he does you have at least 1 more shot before he can even see you to close the distance. Am i missing something would love to see this in action i cant play SC right now because im waiting on new joysticks and mounts to arrive so please indulge me a little and explain why this is not the case.

What Erkul fails to really shed light on Stealth is the IR portion of stealth. As the video states the detection range is based off the highest of your ER or your IR. IR is much harder to lower compared to EM. Most Ships tend to have a minimum IR of 5000. As well as the fact that your EM and sometimes IR jump up when your firing weapons/ So everytime you shoot your EM jumps up making it easier to detect you.

I can see how the current Stealth mechanics are greate for an alpha strike ship like the eclipse but id love to see a video showing how to effectivly use it during a dog fight in a sabre or ghost. can we constantly drop in and out of radar? how easy is it to use stealth to win fights against single or multiple targets? can we drop our target lock so they loose theres? im worried the sabre will get a great first strike in the first 5 secs of a battle but then lose all of its advantages once the ship has you targets with your low shields and armor HP.

From what we can tell, stealth is largely used more strategically rather than on the tactical level. What this means is, that, with the exception of the Eclipse, it's less about direct combat application and more about the bigger picture positioning of forces, etc. Hard concept to explain. Think less MMO rogue, more RL stealth fighter.

One question that still lingers in me: Does the "stealthyness" influence the detection from NPC-law-enforcement? Are we less likely to get scanned down for illegal cargo if we are stealthyer?

I did notice that I could no longer see bigger ships from 40k away. Your note of a change in game client does explain the change. I've spotted a npc hammerhead from 18k away in 3.9, but that may have been an anomaly.
