They didn't. They were hacked for passwords and email accounts. They sent an email telling you to change your password. What's funny is that this happens all the time with almost every other thing online, phone companies get hacked, banks, credit score companies. Your data is already out there.

Your comment doesn’t prove her wrong, though. The origin of the term “dead stock” is rooted in exactly what she mentioned: shoes that were never sold to customers and kept in either back rooms or basements. Check out the Complex Sneakers Podcast episode with DJ Clark Kent to hear his very similar explanation of this term.
@danieldanielson23245 жыл бұрын
What you’re thinking is deadstock “condition”. She is technically not wrong. Her definition implies something that is not on shelves and stored away in the literal sense. If said item is not worn, then it is in a DEADSTOCK CONDITION.

The sneaker resale market is something that I’ve been seeing more and more about (because I just bought a pair of Jordan 1’s). Applying their stock market framework (bids and asks) was not only good marketing and style, but it does create a de facto market value for the shoes. Even if some sneakerheads don’t like stockx, most of them now refer to the stockx price as the going rate of that shoe. Really cool way to improve the resale market of sneakers - or anything.
@Asharnof5 жыл бұрын
Ross Campoli - Leadership & Business Videos the problem is that it’s unregulated, and that none of the buyer/seller base have enough research or data to trend against for a long enough period of time to make any sort of forecasting or predictions like you would on the actual stock market. Instead, everything is predicated by hype and hype alone. This is where the quants are missing, and with that, any real shot of being taken seriously as anything more than a place where predatory resellers capitalize on those who missed out on bigger releases because they don’t have bots. Also, Stock X is a garbage business that has been breached MULTIPLE TIMES and still doesn’t go to great lengths to protect its customers. Just in case if you didn't catch it. Near the end of the video. The co-founder of stock X is basically saying is, if you think 200 dollars is expensive for a pair of shoes. If this guys future is realized. instead of paying the suggested retail price of 150 dollars for some travis Scott Jordan 1s, you would be paying the true retail/ market value price of 1.500 dollars. I never thought that sneakers may one day become a Luxury item only for the rich. But when you have people not of the culture, that does not give 2 F#$% about sneakers and is just there to manipulate the market and Drive up prices. These are the consequences.
@gilbertoflores73975 жыл бұрын
When Jordan's and kanye's shoes' MSRP is 200-250. Yeah they're luxury items. Shoes should cost that much, especially jordans, they're 30 year old shoe still being made with worse materials, and made in small quantities. So yes, only the rich who can afford to overpay for an average product will be able to buy certain shoes. That's how "the culture" has always been, the haves and the have nots. It's always been like that, its just more obvious now when only the rich are seem in the products, and you cant get them because they're sold out or too overpriced.
@LaidBackBill925 жыл бұрын
If StockX became the main "retailler" for certain limited sneakers then basically only the rich are gonna be able to cop them, that's what hes saying when he says "let the market decide" basically "the more excess money you have to spend then you will get every sneaker you want" absolute BS ! Let retail selling stay as it is because that way anyone and everyone has a chance of copping!!
@Unknown164 жыл бұрын
That's impossible because if there is a limited amount then you can't do that. Sellers will charge as much as they can get away with
@LaidBackBill924 жыл бұрын
@@Unknown16 I think you're missing my point. They are saying instead of retail being at a set price by the corporation at their stores, websites and retailers such as Footlocker and what not where they sell at the set price. That all shoes would automatically go into essentially a bidding war from the off, removing all probability for certain people to get the lucky W on SNKRS app or retail in general. Thats why I'm saying its BS.

The problem with this model and this doesn't really jive with the creators idealogy is that each shoe size can have wildy different pricing on stockx for the exact same shoe. Been using StockX for some time and while I like the platform, I have concerns. They have some serious privacy issues, selling fakes, data tracking issues, and transparency issues. Not too long ago, everybody's data was compromised. What was wrong with that was they took DAYS to notify everyone even though we all knew what was going on. And they didn't really say what they're going to do about it. When you look at how they verify sneakers, some of them take less than a minute authenticating them which is concerning. And that leads to fakes. 2nd, I look at the sales chart on the app and website which gives you the price and date of the transactions, it isn't accurate most of the time. How could I have the lowest ask at the time but then a sneaker gets sold for more than my ask? Also, it's supposed to be in chronological order so why am I seeing today's date then Nov 1, 2019 then today's date again? Makes no sense. Why I'm complaining is because this is a BILLION dollar company and I feel that these issues can EASILY be resolved

That statement about releasing the sneaker directly to them and "let the people determine the price" had to be on e of the most self serving statements I've ever heard in my life!!! Release it to them and it'll always be higher than retail SMH!!!

Seems like their end goal is a slippery slope. Letting the market decide the price. Soon you’ll have $130 sneakers that will now retail at $700 Then all of a sudden truly no one will be able to afford these items except the upper class.

What is meant by the sneaker market being worth 2 billion dollars? Like do all the outstanding sneakers being sold add up to be worth around 2 billion dollars?

I hate josh's idea in the end when he said that demand would set the retail price for the items in the future. that destroys the whole sneaker culture and only rich people who don't know about the shoe would cop
