Next time, let the material in contact with the egg be a soft surface, like foam.
@SMUPhysics7 жыл бұрын
Nope. Too hard to clean up afterwards! : )
@SupremeSkeptic7 жыл бұрын
I am quite sure the results will be different. But, you are right, I guess it is a hassle having to clean foam pads.

@RByrne3 жыл бұрын
That's much different from using your hands. The soft surface makes the contact patch much larger, reducing pressure. Using wood or hard material focuses the weight to a tiny point, increasing pressure exponentially. Same way a pin could poke through it with very little effort.
@SMUPhysics3 жыл бұрын
Yes? We never mentioned hands?
@dinesh5147j5 жыл бұрын
Hey bro i am sorry to tell this. You done a little mistake in this experiment, that's in the ring .You put it to make egg stable. But the ring make force on a short area. So the egg broken fastly .But it's a great experience.
@parvbhardwaj19974 жыл бұрын
By how much would that affect the sustaining capability of the egg?

considering that people who could close a 100lb handgripper can't close an egg, it's kinda a big deal
@parmeshrana9013 жыл бұрын
Yes u re right Coz with both my hands I applied a force of at least 15 kgs or even 20 but still the egg did not break. Thank you for the explanation.

Thing is, it would pretty much be unbreakable if you had the egg have equal force on both ends

Its breaks because only one side has force.. it doesn't breaks in hand because both side had same force..
@SMUPhysics3 жыл бұрын
Newton's third law says there's equal forces on both sides. If there was only a force on one side, the egg would accelerate along that direction.

The egg's ovoid shape is stronger under pressure along its long axis as compared to its shorter axis. It all comes down to the shape.

Nope. Eggs is strong. "Eggs are strong" doesn't sound as funny. (See other comments. The title is intentional)
