Fern's other major advantage that was missed is her speed. Frieren's fighting style is to find the chance to make one, high quality attack. It's how she beat Denken, was the plan for her clone, same thing for Qual, and so on. Fern, on the other hand, believes that quantity has a quality all its own, hence why people she fights constantly remark about how they're being overwhelmed by the sheer number of her attacks. Even Frieren herself acknowledges that Fern is a casts far faster than she does.

You forgot the other Fern's S-class skill: Spoiler sniper magic. She can pierce a coin from three miles distance using a highly mana compressed zoltraak. So she is both a camper, a detector, an ambusher, a gatling firing and a sniper mage

Her fighting style is literally just "gun" but magic. Reminds me of Aoko aozaki, the only major difference is that Aoko will try to beat you up before she starts shooting

Okay one correction: Serie doesn't conceal her mana to deceive demons, it's so that she can have people around her without them being paralyzed or scared by the sheer amount of her mana

Her butterfly motif always struck me as a reference to humans' short lifespans compared to Frieren. Most adult butterflies live for only a few weeks; a tiny amount compared to the 70 years of so of humans. Comparable to that same 70 years put against the elves' thousands of years. Fern is mature. She is beautiful. She is Powerful. She is short-lived (In the eyes of Frieren).

She is definitely the most promising mage of her peers who also become mage with her. Without denken, wirbel, and maybe methode I don't see anyone giving fern much trouble. Land and ubel are very good mages but they don't have the range to fight fern if she starts flying around and spamming

@@mdtaj7563 Fern main problem is her almost complete lack of experience and lack of versatility. This is why Methode for example is by far better than Fern . What you call "long range", start "flying and spaming" - those are favorable conditions to Fern. But if situation get wrong way (just like in her battle against Mist user demon) Fern has nothing to turn the battle

Fern's mana detection isn't as good as Frieren's. The reason Fern detected Solitar while Frieren didn't, is because Frieren was too focused on analysing memories, resulting in her being unable to do anything else by herself. Frieren was the only one of the party to detect the mage watching everyone in the Imperial capital, admittedly only after Serie.

Anime only, but does Fern ever get a zoltraak based moniker? In Rurouni Kensnin, the titular character is called the "battousai" because he's so good at battoujutsu. Fern deserves a title like that considering her mastery of zoltraak.
