Ichigo's true bankai has the power of mugetsu but with the ability to combine all the powers of the races as Hikone does in the sequel novel "Cant fear your own world", with the abilities he fuses he can literally double or even triple the power of his techniques; unlike mugetsu where he reached the maximum of his power forcibly, with true bankai this does not happen because it was achieved with training and self-awareness, Ywach rope ichigo's bankai and absorbs his powers because in a fair duel he could not win . Unfortunately when the bankai is repaired the powers of ichigo do not return so we see a weakened version of the sword, an empty shell containing his old regressed shikai, in fact when ichigo disintegrates ywach behind it is a plot hole forced by the author who for unwillingness wanted to end it all too soon and had to make some things happen before ichigo regained all his power, a normal getsuda with a weakened sword could not harm ywach, if not even the Great rey Getsuda could do it, when Ywach is cut the second time, he had become a mere human for a few moments thanks to ishida's arrow, so it was easy to kill him. In the sequel novel it is specified that only after the death of Ywach ichigo does he regain all his powers, in short we have never seen the real bankai in action.

@@CaptainHavoc To see the power of the real bankai of ichigo, a new saga would have to be made ... but you have no idea how unlikely it is to happen, because the author no longer wants to draw, even the bleach spin-off "Burn the witch "will go very slowly, about a volume will be released every 6 months ... and unless another author with the same drawing style of Kubo decides to take the reins of the series we will hardly see other manga on Bleach, the most likely hypothesis is that a writer and mangaka like Narita is commissioned to do another seuqle novel (probably about the saga of hell) but until the bleach anime comes out in 2021 and you start talking seriously about satisfying sales, all this remains a dream .

@@AlexESR71 basically (for an in depth answer) ichigos bankai is a "armor/wearing type" you know how when he goes bankai his outfit changes? Thats because the outfit is part of his bankai. It said that because bearly any of his bankai outfit was left thats how much % wise of his energy was left. There are ther examples of characters that wear their bankais like toshiro and basically all arrancars ressurrections are like this. Other types are bankais that create an entity (the zanpakuto) like kisukes, sajins, and mayuris. Then there are those that just buff their sword so gin.

if u think about it some more, Ichigo's bankai attack power is beyond planetary becuz Everyone ichigo has fought had multiple layers of defenses (reiatsu acting like a force field, steel skin, and even blood hardening techniques) so imagine having the power to literally slice the moon (lol) and then needing to put more and more power into ur swing against stronger and stronger foes like 2nd state Ulqiuorra, Aizen, Vollständig Quincies, and Ywatch. And with a foe like Ywatch who has the power to destroy all of Soul Society, Hueco Mundo, and the human world. so depending how u look at it ichigo will have to be Universal or multi-universal level to even be able to go toe to toe with an Almighty, omnipotent, omnipresent god, that feared his bankai so much he had to make sure to destroy it TWICE before ichigo could even use it...but that is debatable due to the rushing to end the series.

Tensa zangetsu is not speed, but rather compressing his reiatsu to smaller compact form, not only his speed increases but so does his physical strength, endurance and senses. The smaller form is also more energy efficient as ichigo could probablt stay in bankai for years before running out of reiatsu to maintain it

My assumptions were always that his original bankai was mid tier, it had strength and speed but he was vulnerable to hax abilities. Then after fullbring training zangetsu was less able to inhibit his real power, hence the changed look, putting him in the middle of high tier where someone would need power and overwhelming hax to take him out. Once he got his true zanpakuto he was put at the very peak of top tier, able to take out the majority of the cast solo even all at once.

An attack being light-based differs from actual light. It certainly shines like light, but at the end of the day it's just reiatsu/reishi, a type of energy which properties change according to the user's level: it may be slower, equal or faster than light. If we were to assume it's velocity just based on appearance, then all Ceros, Kidous and Heilig Pfeil would be the same speed either shot by Hanatarou, Dondochakka, Äs Nödt or Yhwach. Because they're "light", and light can't be faster than itself. Since this obviously isn't the case, we need to be open minded to the plasticity of reiatsu and use other examples to stablish more accurate results. And this rule works for any fictional universe that deals with spiritual "shiny" energy. I think the best reference we have in Bleach is the databook statement of Tensa Zangetsu Ichigo being lightning speed during Byakuya's fight. From that we stack Zenkais and transformations and scale to other characters, forward or even backwards.

To quote another Bleach KZbinr, Clyde, that statement appears to have been more "poetic" than factual, especially with factors like the Negacion and Ceros being light and Ichigo, even in his "fake Shikai" state at the beginning of the series, being able to react to a Menos' Cero.

Clyde also uses A LOT of Head Canon. Like saying DBZ style Zenkai boosts exists for all Bleach Characters even the only one who gets a boost is Ichigo. And it’s not even DBZ style, Ichigo literally unlocks his power when he’s battling his inner power. We see Ichigo can easily lose everything he’s gained like in the Full Bring Arc. Clyde isn’t the gold standard lmao, he’s good in some sense and terrible in a lot.

At least with that theory, there’s evidence: - Oldman Zangetsu leaving - White taking over - Spirit Energy changed from Blue/ White to Red/ Black - Rukia says Ichigo spirit energy flows like a power water of faucet - After SS arc Ulquiorra says Ichigos energy is now fluctuating sporadically sometimes “stronger” than Ulquiorra sometimes insignificant - Bankai Ichigo barely being able to outclass Privaron Espada weaker than the weakest Espada - Ginjo stating the Substitute Reaper Badge restricts rietsu and that Soul Society was planning on killing them. I could go on, but I haven’t seen any evidence of Zenkai boosts besides the one made up by Head Canon.

Ever since bleach brave soul got the final ichigo and it say “true zangetsu” I wanted ichigo to have a second bankai since arguably that’s just ichigo United soul shikai because I really love the slick small katana bankai than what we got since a sheath sword since the whole point is f ichigo training is don’t fight with restraint.
