As a combatant, Ace is insanely underrated by the One Piece community. I'd chalk it down to how haki is poorly portrayed pre timeskip, but we know he was able to clash against fighters like Yamato and Aokiji and before his time with Whitebeard also fought Jinbe for days with seemingly no haki and won. And the Ace Novels gas the heck out of Ace but people can never agree with themselves whether to take it into consideration or not. Side Note: It really annoys me that the guy always carries around a sword but NEVER uses it

Personally I felt like the Paramount war was a soft-intro to haki, as people were constantly hitting/interacting w the logia admirals. Ace definitely wasn’t a push over, in the Ace spin off he literally straight up uses Future sight to see that if WB hit him he’d be knocked out and dodged him instead and according to thatch Ace relied on Armament and his fruit in the grandline and new world until he met them which imo says volumes about Aces Armament Haki, he was also just casually clashing with WB which that alone says enough, he’s definitely in the right hand tier of fighters which Was why him being defeated was supposed to be so crazy

I've had this theory for the longest time that haki had elemental properties. We know ace's did not sure about others, but it would kinda explain why things get goofy when Luffy is around. To my knowledge no one has described luffy's haki yet. I can't wait to see if this "elemental" theory of mine is true or not.

I've stated before numerous times that Ace must have imbued his haki into his flame abilities, but people would call me crazy or in my head canon. How else is he able to make his flames solid to the point of an actual fist crushing through things. It's the only way that he was able to clash with Akainu as well.

Right, he was able to predict WB attacks and glimpse into the future if it would kill him or not lol. He was really strong. It was stated to be his weakest haki type as well, with his strongest aptitude being in armament haki. They even said he was reliant on it while he was training them before his WB fights. At the end of the day he was a second division commander putting him at the very least being around the level of queen and other number 2s of a yankou crew. He was the number 2 with the most potential though as other yonkou commanders are old. Would not really be surprised if he made yonkou following the timeskip had he survived. He was probably one of the people with the highest potentials in the series, hence why the government really prioritized him, fearing that blood line. His quick rise was what clued them into him being rogers son, which is a testament to how quick his growth rate was even when considering the fact he had a logia.

Very late reply but yes the first time Ace awoke Arnament Haki was when he first arrived to Sabody as the Spade Pirates Captain (probably still in his first year of piracy). He used it unconsciously against a Vice Admiral when his flames weren’t working on him (because the Vice Admiral had Haki) and defeated the Vice Admiral.

i think the description of his haki being like flame isn't because his haki has elemental effects. If you look at how Issho the blind admiral sees Sabo is flames in the shape of a human. Benn Beckman's haki was strong enough to see Ace's devil fruit nature is my take from that. What should be noted however is that Beckman would have just mentioned Ace's a flame logia, the fact that he went to extrapolate how flame like Ace's haki really was is more a testament to just how much control Ace had with his devil fruit and his power from it, as in Ace probably fully awakened his logia powers already, which would then explain the change in weathers in both cases, since logia awakening can alter climate.

I once had a debate against a guy because he was saying that Gaara from the 4th ninja war, could beat the current crocodile, the problem here is what if the opponent of the logia can control the element he turns into, for example gaara who controls all types of sand, so crocodile every time he turns into sand can be controlled by gaara, or so it is presupposed, and even so if gaara could control crocodile's sand, this would really give him a great advantage or even the victory by that fact alone, I have seen animations and debates on youtube and several place crocodile as the winner because he has his other ability which is to dry everything to death. I would like you to make a video about that (of course if you haven't already I really am new to your channel). about what would happen to a logia if their opponent can manipulate their element, like say characters from boku no hero who can control ice or fire, or characters from avatar the last airbender who some can control magma. that would be the only way a logia would be threatened in another manga universe.

undrestand this: BB is 2nd comander level without a fruit (he refused the position) and he was also able to scar SHANKS who was on guard PRE FRUIT (the feat by default couldnt have been when they were children cause shanks wouldnt bother to warn WB if he was weak). furthermore as a rookie he is seen clashing with yamato who has COC/RYUO and besting jimbei only to furhter get up and chalenge WB. he is the strongest second comander by far and away no second comander even comes close to aces dai enkai, queens strongest attack is a wallmart version of kumas lasers while smothie is borderline garbage. ace himself states the rest of the worst generation are nothing compared to him which is proven seeing as it took law/kid YEARS to reach sabody while ace/luffy did it in a few months, he is also the only person besides the MC/NIKA that the WG are willing to go to war with a YONKO to kill. the most powerfulll/important people have gassed aces power and potential which is why his death changed the entire storys dificulty level for luffy.

Ace is the same level as the admirals. Off course the minority one piece fans who think admiral = emperors would disagree. He has all three haki, logia devil fruit and it's fire which is crazy strong, clashed with aojiki and won that clash. Fought with yamato who is dangerously powerful and made kaido bleed with a BLUNT weapon. Plus he would get stronger as the series continues. So if yamato can fight with kaido but will lose then ace should be able to do the same but at that point would be stronger than yamato.

I think if Ace wasn’t deprived of food and badly injured before the War of the Best he would have been able to walk out of there. In all honesty it was Luffy being gassed that stopped them from escaping if Luffy was just a tad bit stronger it would have gone off without a hitch. Tbh I think Ace didn’t take Blackbeard seriously enough in their encounter and didn’t realise how much the darkness was diminishing his strength until it was too late for him to do anything and Blackbeard even though he may have been weaker or close to Ace’s strength at the time took advantage. I’d say Ace is comparable to Sabo or stronger but unfortunately we never got to see it. He needed to die for the story to continue.

Jokes aside, despite multiple characters pointed out how powerful and talented ace was pre time skip (and pre devil fruit), his fighting strategy basically boiled down to 'throw as many flames as possible at your foe'. Which didn't work well against blackbeard that can nullify df power, or akainu that can straight up eat his flames for breakfast
