I always assumed the speed stat to be more like initiative (how fast you can start moving), makes more sense to me and doesn't contradict the dex entries having absurd comparisons with jets and so on.
@jeffmatrachisia38274 жыл бұрын
ChaosN that’s what I always say but people try to argue with me. Speed isn’t literally speed, it’s better described as... reflexes? Reaction time? A high speed stat doesn’t always translate to fast, it translate better to agile. Otherwise, yeah, the speed stat is completely inconsistent with how fast each Pokemon supposedly is.

i think that bellsprout would be interesting. you have bulbasaur 2.0 but also can go other routes and maybe do some interesting cheese with wrap instead.
@N120154 жыл бұрын
Not having body slam will hurt, but level 1 calm mind and vine whip, as well as level 18 sleep powder and level 13 Wobblin... I mean Wrap. I have a serious existencial question: Is Bellsprout better, as good as, or worse than Bulbasaur? Because ultimately a tier list are decided in how stuck a pokemon can be in the adventure.
@AzureKite4 жыл бұрын
Dude I'm doing a monotype grass run in Blue, Victreebell is the goddamn MVP. The combination of Toxic and Wrap is so broken. I'm sure Bellsprout is gonna be good, maybe the early game will be a bit rough but by the late game nothing can stop it... once it has enough levels under it. I think it'll be in the same tier as Bulbasaur, maybe better, but we'll see. Excited to see that one.
@nihildwo48744 жыл бұрын
@@N12015 exactly my thoughts. my prediction is that bellsprout is at worst bulbasaur tier but potentially better, but i could be completely wrong and bodyslam turns out to be more valuable than wrap due to safe accurancy and instant power. maybe having lower def and a little less speed will outweigh the higher special so bellsprout will need a bit more levels over bulbasaur. maybe the bulbasaur strategy isn t optimal. i mean you could try toxic + wrap or even go swords dance. i mean jrose was originally wrong about pikachu. on a side note - if he decides to do this it would be a nice easteregg to name the character kaoroku or jeanette after the girl from indigo plateau with the bellsprout.
@OmegaTyrant4 жыл бұрын
@@N12015 Bellsprout just outclasses Bulbasaur; it has all the caveats Bulbasaur has but even higher Special, very good Attack for an unevolved to mix attack well, access to Swords Dance, and Wrap, all in exchange for just slightly less physical durability and marginally less Speed (40 base Speed instead of 45 won't make much of a difference). Bellsprout should be a top tier contender and possible candidate for minimum battles.
@N120154 жыл бұрын
@@OmegaTyrant Say that to the bug catchers. He'll have more problems in early game because almost everything resists grass at the beggining, and he'll have issues with ghosts, but so has bulbasaur. I'm curious about how good Wobbling/Wrap will be over body slam because that's the main difference (Higher attack is not that relevant without a reliable physical attack, and the other stats are almost equal), and if the IC move is overrated or well rated in RBY. Will it be Poliwag tier, Bulbasaur tier or Charmander tier? Only time will tell that, but i'm sure that he'll not be worse than charmander.

I started a Rattata run. So far he’s doing really well. I beat brock at level 14, right after learning Hyper Fang, and Rattata also has access to great moves such as Thunderbolt and Dig. I feel like if you want to do an easy run, Rattata is a good way to go.
@OmegaTyrant4 жыл бұрын
With Rattata's abysmal 25 Special, Thunderbolt isn't going to be that useful on it. Its Normal STAB will definitely outdamage it against everything weak to Tbolt except for maybe Cloyster and Gyarados, and even against them I would be surprised if Tbolt did more. Same goes for the rest of its surprising Special movepool. Big problem though is a lack of any boosting and status moves on top of being so frail, at the end it probably won't be that much better than Pidgey.
@lizzerd51124 жыл бұрын
@@OmegaTyrant You have a point. What I was planning on doing was teaching it dig. Hyper Fang and Dig would carry me through the game, with Thunderbolt helping out against Gyrados and Charizard.
@OmegaTyrant4 жыл бұрын
@@lizzerd5112 Body Slam would be better than Hyper Fang, it has 5 more power and full accuracy, and that 30% paralysis chance would be better than the 10% flinch chance. And either of those moves will definitely hurt Zard more than Tbolt would. Can be worth trying against Gyarados if you have the moveslot open, but in Lance's battle you'll probably want to try Mimicking Hyper Beam off it, which with STAB is going to be extremely powerful for Rattata. One special move that would be useful is Bubblebeam against the Rock/Ground types, as their equally bad Special and huge Defense will have that outdamage Dig, but they're usually not much of a threat for that to matter much.

@13:55 It's LIEUtenant because that's what we say in America and Lt Surge is the "Lightning American". It's also Lorelei like "eye". ;p
@ryapowa4 жыл бұрын
