For anybody asking about the printer, he’s using the epson f570. You can see it for a split second. I just got the same one (upgraded from the f170 for larger sizes) and it’s amazing.

I did sublimation back in 2003. I should've kept at it. Sold off my printer and heat press and moved on. In todays market with the social media and internet, you can make some serious $$$ with sublimation. Back then, it was a struggle.

I have the same and it works amazing. I bought it refurbished directly from epson, $179 which includes free shipping to me. It came with the same warranty as a new one but since I converted it doesn't apply, but anyhow the point being that it works amazingly. I may upgrade to a larger one before long, but I love the Epson Eco tanks with refillable ink tanks because they are extremely economical, very affordable to purchase, and they work great.

Shirts have to have at least 50% polyester in them. The higher the poly count the better the image will come out. Lower polyester count will have more of a vintage look.

Needs a coating and it has to be white if you want the colors to come out right. I used to work at a print shop and I was operating the heat press doing all sorts of metal printing.

I don't know where HE gets his blanks, but Johnson Plastics Plus. They carry the actual ChromaLux metal panels, which are some of the very best quality. You def want quality when sublimating in metal!😀 Great company to work with as well!

When doing sublimation, when you put it on the heat press, you always want to cover with something such as butcher paper, and some people use the more expensive Teflon sheets for it. Personally, I used the butcher paper. It is used to absorb what is referred to as "blowout". When you press sublimation, it actually convert the ink to a gas that is pressed into the fibers of the poly coating on the material you are using. Many times, there will be excess ink, and when pressed it will "blow out". If you don't have the butcher paper or something else that you use for blowout paper, it will be blown out all over your project that you are pressing and it will be ruined. That's just a sort of simple explanation maybe not professional or in-depth, but that is basically what it is all about. 😊
