For shovel/spade care, my Grandfather always kept a bucket of sand saturated with mineral oil that he would repeatedly jam the metal into to clean and sharpen his tools. His shovel never got rusty and was always sharp for digging! He never put a "dirty" shovel away.

The repetition of tasks in videos is a great reminder of the reality of gardening 😂: many of us can’t clean out our beds in a single afternoon. You demonstrate how smart and satisfying it can be complete one bed at a time instead of doing all of the pruning in all of the beds, then doing all of the cut backs, etc.

Thoughts on redundancy; Life goes in cycles, and this is the glory. What I love to watch is updates and even if you are doing the same thing in a certain garden, I want to see the current progress. Don't change your style, it's what we have come to love. 🌲

Oh how I wish you could talk your Mom into another quick update on their remodel. I just love the process and seeing how rooms come together and the reasons for choices being made. We went through a remodel of our home which was built in 1850 and had to remove knob and tube wiring, asbestos, etc. So many factors involved that you never think about, such as shipping delays, out of stock items, injuries etc. The end result is always worth it but what a process 😮. God bless you and your family for sharing your beautiful lives with us.

The comment of being excited to show Aaron your work made me laugh. I do that with my husband too. I work from home but usually do a variety of tasks at lunchtime and before dinner. He comes home around 6pm, so I usually start with "Did you notice ...?" He has pointed it out to me a lot and finds it cute/silly. We have to be proud of our accomplishments big or small! 🪴

No plant will flower if it’s not getting enough sunlight. Citrus requires full all day sunlight. It might get enough light to maintain foliage but if it isn’t blooming then it’s not getting enough sun. I am a horticulture major from Texas A & M University. That’s one of the things taught about citrus.

Great video as usual! Please try the Pampered Chef garlic press. I have had mine for probably 20 years. It’s very sturdy and does a great job. It’s rare that I mince garlic for a recipe. I plant a lot of garlic to use fresh but, I also freeze a good amount to get me through the winter. I break the heads apart and freeze the individual cloves in a bag with the skins on. I take the amount out for a recipe as I gather my ingredients and let them sit for a few minutes. When I get ready to use them I just squeeze them through the press and then toss the skins. I love it ! None of my garlic goes to waste from sprouting and it’s so convenient!

The BEST garlic mincer that I’ve found are the ones that are circular with the handle one side of the circle and the other side has a flat area with lots of holes. You basically just roll it over the garlic clove a couple of times and the crushed garlic is on the inside of the circle and the skin stays on the outside. You just scrape each side with a knife, one lit into your recipe and the other into the trash and it’s done! Bonus is they’re REALLY quick and easy to clean, no fiddly bits just a flat area of steel with holes in it! You can thank me later 😉😁👍🏻

As someone who is about to buy fruit trees and turn them into espalier trees this spring, that question about spraying when they're close to flowers was super helpful. I plan on planting a bunch of native flowers plus strawberries as a groundcover in my mini orchard, I didn't even think about the spray and those plants, I will go with your suggestion in covering the ground when I spray and see how that goes thank you :)

I have native honeysuckles, lonicera sempervirens, growing on each side of an arched arbor. I cut back 1/3 of the thickest stems to about 12" from the ground every 7-10 years. My strategy is to cut down 1/3 of the thickest vines every few years while maintaining a few of the thick ones. This way, I keep growth at the top while regenerating growth at the base. I love my red-flowering lonicera sempervirens as they start blooming in my z5b gardens in late spring and continue blooming through October. This provides food for the early hummingbirds and also for the stragglers at the end of the season.

Downward facing hellebores look great in hanging baskets. You can see all the detail at eye level.

This is the most I have laughed with/at you guys. I loved the lemon joke Aaron. Laura I made the carrot cake to take to our churches luncheon. It was very good and no left overs. Thank you for sharing. Also I would live the mock drinks.

Garlic press - I bought off Amazon a Zulay brand (it shows up as the Amazon choice). The cleaning brush that comes with it is crap, as is the garlic peeler. The tool itself is the best one I’ve owned. We harvested 150 heads of garlic last summer - my garlic press gets a workout! I keep a toothbrush by my sink to clean it well.

The Natures Willow pain creme has been a game changer for me. Quick relief and lasts quite a while before having to reapply.
