Mitch Wishnowsky put on an absolute show and was a huge reason that they beat the seahawks... it's one of the most amazing performances by a punter in a long long time.

Wishnowski is the bomb. He is so good. I was a bit nervous when we lost Andy Lee but mitch has surpassed lee in my eyes as the best 49er punter ever.

Definitely. Andy was just a fucking cannon, man. He could pin the team back on their twenty kicking from the goal line. You could hear it echo through the stadium. But Mitch is a sniper with deadly range and accuracy.

As a Chargers fan, I used to watch Mike Scifers do the same thing. He was the best player in the league for a little bit because he could punt it from anywhere and put the other team in bad field position. Ever since then, special teams has been the most interesting plays to watch for me

Special teams is 6 parts. 1-kicking a field goal 2-trying to STOP (block) a field goal 3-returning a kickoff 4-kickoff and kick coverage 5-punting and punt coverage 6-returning a punt If you are at or near the top in all 6 disciplines while controlling the line of scrimmage both offensively and defensively, and you dont turn the ball over....you will win over 90% of the football games you play in. It is a statistical certainty. I've seen the math and it doesn't lie. I know everyone gets hyped about all the running and gunning, and all the skilled players, but any coach worth his salt knows that the game is won and lost at the line of scrimmage. It's always been this way. Thank you I will be here all week.

It's not just a thing for him as a Punter but for all Australian Punters... the "Banana Ball" style kick is the predominant type of kick of the Australian Rules Football League.... there are, if I remember correctly, 5 or 6 Australian Punters in the NFL and they all kick like this. 😅
@owenbarnes7737 ай бұрын
not quite ... the drop punt is the most utilised kick in Aussie Rules because it is considered easier to catch the banana (or checkside) which is the crossways spinning ball, is used primarily in goal kicking from a tight angle ... the sideways spin causes a curve in the trajectory (which is what is making it difficult to judge and catch in the NFL) the torpedo (which is the Aussie Rules equivalent of an NFL punt) is only used for distance - and then very rarely - because it isn't as accurate, the ball isn't really made for that type of kick/punt (as opposed to the pigskin) and is more difficult to catch than a drop punt
@R-vl9ue7 ай бұрын

But since about halfway through last season he’s been Mr. Consistent. He’s definitely the best player on special teams. Mitch will punt it 60 yards and then everyone else gives up a 50 yard return so Mitch will tackle the returner to save a TD. What else does this guy have to do!?
