@@codexhunter7836 what most people forget is server and laptops market. You think ryzen is better than Intel on desktops? Check the Ryzen 5 4500u vs the i5 10600u. The Intel looks like it's 2 generations old while it's brand new. Sure, Intel is, kinda fine, but investors have been pulling from Intel for some time now.

@@haralabospap7091 I don't think you have thoroughly read my comment so let me repeat myself. I said that intel is a multi billion dollar company and it will take more then maybe 2-4 years of low sales to kill them off. Sure it might teach them a lesson, but they would not be forced into bankruptcy so early. That being said, I believe intel would take more then 4 years to even catch up to current gen AMD, let alone catch up to AMD in 4 years.

+Michael Tan I'm tired of seeing this excuse, like AMD is stretched so thin and is juggling both at once. Yes they make two product types, but that also means two income sources. Nvidia doesn't have to worry about CPU research sure, but they also don't get money from CPU sales. Is it really that hard to have two different divisions of a company doing two different things with two separate revenue streams? Can't they each have their own personnel and operate somewhat independently? All your argument seems to imply is that management is too incompetent to handle two divisions at once.

It's OK. You'll feel kind of dirty, like you slept in your clothes, pretty soon with that Green Goblin GPU in there. I know. I felt that way after a month with my last nVidia GPU, a GTX670 2GB. I sold it and got a 7950 3GB card soon afterwards, and saved $60 to boot. Looking at the benchmarks now, I'm even happier that I ditched that 670 for the 7950. The 7950 has held up really well, and runs DX12 games great, but the 670 looks like crap in modern games. I just gave the 7950 to my nephew for his first gaming rig (he's only 10), and that 5 year old Gigabyte 7950 looks brand new and is still running like a champ.

Subi_fan Yes they did. The only chip thats worth buying from Intel now for just gaming is the i7 7700k and I still wouldn't buy one because an r5 1600 with higher clocked memory can give extremely high frame rates as well. You're also stuck on a dead platform if you go for kabylake. The newer i5s will be faster then the i7 7700k for sure and the upgrade path for ryzen is insane. If you go AM4, you'll get next cpu's up to 2020 which is really good.

WarmSoftKitty Most of the X series processors are actually slower then ryzen processors. The only Xseries processor that is faster is the 16c/36t one that just came out but it's 2000$ and it only outperforms the 1950x by 5% and it's double the price. The newer i5's will be faster then the i7 7700k because they'll have higher clock speeds and will have exactly 6 cores. They'll have more multi threaded performance and single threaded performance. Ryzen 2 may even be faster since to moving to 7nm and comes out sometime late next year. Ryzen is most certainly better to go for over the i7 7700k. Also, the 7740x is slower then the i7 7700k and cost way more... X299 is a joke.

WarmSoftKitty Hardware unboxed did a video on the 7820x and the ryzen 1800 trashed it in every benchmark and the r5 1600 even managed to beat it. The 7900x is slower then the 1950x and the 1950x is cheaper and has more PCIE lanes... The X series processors that are similar to their normal desktops counterparts are slower then their normal desktop parts. The ryzen 1600 beat the 7820x in gaming and multithreaded work loads. Look up hardwareunboxed's channel for proper information. X299 processors are over priced, the lower end ones make no sense which is why x299 processors are a joke and that's most certainly a fact. Also, look at the cost of Intel's X series processors vs AMD'S normal desktop lineup of processors and you'll see which one is better.
@strikepaw1
@strikepaw1 7 жыл бұрын
WarmSoftKittt That processor literally marches the r7 1800 and it cost twice as much if you add on the additional cost of an expensive X series motherboard. It does not beat the r7 1800 in price and barely bears it in performance. You're really starting to sound like an Intel shill at this point.

If your going to compare intel x vs ryzen 7 / threadripper, you compare the chips at the same price point (eg 16c tr vs 10c x series at $1000)

Don't assume anything from what you see in the video. The grubby fingerprints of marketing types are all over it. I do not know if they were intentionally being deceptive at the time but what you see is not what you get. For example, when Threadripper was being discussed, we saw a single large die that looks similar to photos of Vega dies I've seen, and we know that Threadripper consists of four small, separate dies (two functional and two not).

Grew up with AMD, stuck with AMD as long as I could but had to go Intel/Nvidia in the early 2010's, you guys couldn't keep up. I'm pleased you're back in the game and I built a beautiful Ryzen/Vega tower. It runs like a charm! Your prices are so good, I didn't lose much on selling my intel/nvidia build on the used market :p

@@dissident5179 Oh my gosh! I completely forgot I made this comment, that's awesome. And yeah, Linus' video on the intel fab, and especially the video on the actual engineering process was just as awesome as I'd imagine. I guess there's little chance to do a fab tour, since AMD outsources that to TSMC and GlobalFoundries (as far as I'm aware). But I'm still keen to see if we get some sort of walkthrough from AMD, be it assembling or engineering.

I really like your background music AMD! ;) Of course the background music would be nothing without the great products you're creating - and I strongly hope that you'll continue this strong lineup and become even stronger and stronger with every week, every month and year until no one has any doubts about AMD is at least equal, if not even superior, compared to Intel. PS: I myself own a i7 4790K - but if I'm going to update my hardware someday in the future - there's no doubt that I'll get an AMD CPU like maybe a Threadripper ^^
