The Red Shadows resurfaced in G.I. Joe. Apparently "The Devil's Due" story arc in the early 2000s reintroduces them. I have not read it myself, but I thought you might be interested in it. Nice video series. I have been enjoying it. Great job!

@@Randomgijoecollector Yeah. The Red Shadows looked cool. I envy children of the 80s that got to play with Action Force. Red and Black are my favorite colour combination. A toy company called Super7 recently made a Red Laser figure.

The Devils Due G.I.Joe series was the worst G.I.Joe run ever made, but by far the worst story in that run was the Red Shadows arc. That storyarc made that run completley irridemable! I strongly encourage you to avoid those comics all together. Edit: If you want better usage of the red shadows, I recomend some issues from the original a real american hero comic run from Larry hama, it was during the IDW era. They debuted in issue 188.

I prefer the Larry Hama version because that is the one I grew up with. The Action Force origin would actually fit with the IDW origin of Cobra Commander. Before they continued the Marvel storyline IDW had a new continuity of G.I. Joe and in it Cobra Commander was revealed to not be one person but serial through out the years. This was revealed in the G.I. Joe: Cobra when Chuckles killed the current Cobra Command. That lead into a storyline where several agents of Cobra agents (include Baroness, Dr. Vargas, Major Bludd, Oda Satori, Tomax, Krake, and Raja Khallikhan) competed to be the new Cobra Commander. The Cobra Council (who selected each Cobra Commander) chose Krake to be the new Cobra Commander. Krake latter killed the Cobra Council to solidify his power base. Since Marvel's series is the basis for G.I. Joe how much of the new continuity is kept remains to be seen.

Yeah., I'm with agree with you the action force origin is great For one it keeps Cobra commander mysterious and larger than life figure. Larry Hama gave us a personal and down to earth Cobra Commander which work for the stories he's in The Cobra-La origin was very out there origin for him (not saying it bad just not a great way to incorporate a reveal)

I really like the Red Shadows to Cobra (kinda explains the Crimson Guard look). My beef with action force was actually the Action Force toy line. They were just really crappy compared to the Hasbro stuff. Excluding the sick flying skull tie fighter lookin thing.

Yes they were not as cool as the gi joe stuff, but there were some good ones like you say the robo skull, and I always liked the sealion.

Probably nostalgia, but I prefer Cobra Commander to the Baron. That Chrome face mask and helmet is just dang iconic. Best Commander was definitely the Marvel comics one from the 1980s/1990s. But man do I miss Chris Latta's Cobra Commander voice acting from the 80s cartoon. Charles Adler did a decent job in GI Joe Resolute. Dang shame it didn't continue as an ongoing show or video game. Baron's Shadows are neat. Think the Crimson Guard mixed with your basic Cobra trooper.

@Random Gi Joe Collector, Probably for the 80s cartoon, not so much for the Marvel comics. Wish that got adapted into a show or video game. GI JOE Operation Black Out was terrible. I don't dislike Cobra-la, I disliked them retconning Cobra Commander's backstory to include that. I think they did bring back Cobra-la in the one of the recent GI Joe comics and they did them much better. And yes, Chris Latta was the original voice actor for G1 Starscream as well. He also voiced Gung Ho in the Sunbow GI Joe cartoon too. Sadly he passed away too soon in the mid 1990s.

Honestly hearing all that I like the Action Force origin...having a Cobra Commander who is already familiar with military strategy and creating an organization from th geound up makes more sense than a car salesman some how hecome a world feared terrorist

I like the Cobra La origin story better. I heard that G I Joe didn’t even have an enemy until Hasbro looked at Marvel’s Hydra 🐙 and decided to call their enemy organization Cobra 🐍.

To be honest the Baron Ironblood story is lame. The truth is that many of our bankers and politicians are controlled by a second species living on the Earth called Homo Capensis. The reason for all the monarchies and emperors of the past was Homo Capensis has been ruling the world in secret for eons. The birth of freedom and republics are a threat to Homo Capensis rule. All the wars of the 20th Century were banker planned with Homo Capensis manipulation. The idea is to see how easy it is to take over Vietnam 🇻🇳, Iraq 🇮🇶 and Iran 🇮🇷, so they can collect data and learn how to conquer America 🇺🇸 eventually. I notice Cobra La had bulb 💡 headed occupants, like the writers were hinting at the Homo Capensis presence. The Cobra La origin makes more sense. If you look at the Rothchilds and notice how long their skulls are, it makes more sense. Homo Capensis operates under Vatican 🇻🇦 City and manipulated every government on Earth. Look up Karen Hudes Homo Capensis. Homo Capensis wants the world as dumb and as controlled as South American and African nations. All these expansionist political movements are Homo Capensis funded for the re-enslavement of humanity. Cobra 🐍 in the GI Joe context is just an amalgamation of them all. However don’t get it wrong, Homo Capensis has an underground city, and they are a threat to humanity’s freedoms and survival.

@@Ultron71 Yeah I can see why Marvel turned that down. WW2 was waning, Hydra was the Red Skull’s thing. I don’t know if they would have had Captain America join SHIELD or not but the thing about GI Joe that makes it great is no super powered beings. GI Joe 🆚 Cobra 🐍 worked because it was an amalgamation of fascism and communism. Red Skull was fascist. Omega Red was Communist. Now even in the Marvel-verse the Red Skull and Omega Red seem like antiquated villains 🦹‍♂️.

Well I saw your 3 Stroy about baron Ironblood red shadow to cobra commander an cobra organization for British Your story lines of Action Force was Damn good I grew up with Gi Joe an I read about cobra commander an how he was made was very poorly run story line but your story was more realistic to me I think Action Force story lines was a lot better an should been the prime for GI Joe Stroy lines... I saw your story 5 times an I going to keep it on my phone it is the best.. It's sad the movies would been more better with Somthing like This an also have very much better and realistic cartoons Of GI Joe from the Begain of red shadow to cobra organization would be a very great Cartoon an a real movie or Seasons Of movies... Sounds like to me you British was the first to make GI Joe it would been Somthing if everything was different if it was your way.. I never read Action Force seem Interesting but sad No longer around... Well last thing this was a great way of knowing the real cobra commander but I see he The Baron Ironblood was already 50 years old but when he was cobra commander an built Cobra Organisation he was I guess 70 years old an lost his mind but I also heard about the cobra Council was made that voted to put in a man to rule cobra for i think 7 years or Somthing now I think the real cobra commander ak Red Baron Ironblood new he was not going to live for ever so would it be more realistic to build a Council to vote in a cobra commander to rule cobra organizations his way for 7 years if he does well he get voted in 7 years more but fail after 7 years a new cobra commander vote in but don't matter it was very intrastating..

Yes it's interesting to see how the Action Force and gi joe stories are so different, like you said I always thought the British version to be better as it was a bit more gritty than gi joe, I was lucky enough to visit family in the states during the 80s, and came across hasbros version of gi joe, and it was a shock to me how different they were and you even had a cartoon, which we never really got here till later. As for the movies, we'll what can you say, there is so much history and back stories to draw upon, the mind boggles at the direction they took, transformers managed to do a decent first movie so why not gi joe??? Although I have heard at the end of the latest transformers movie that there is a gi joe easter egg? So who knows maybe we'll get a gi joe and transformers cross over? That's interesting about the cobra council, and yes it could have tied in with the Baron due to his age! As always lots of opportunity's missed!
