How The Bucks Can Recover Against The Heat In Game 2

The Bucks lost game 1 against the Miami Heat, as the Heat were led by Jimmy Butler's magnificent performance on both sides. In this video, I breakdown how the Bucks can counter the Heat with strategies to contain Butler and the pick & roll, and how they can score more on offense with Giannis and Middleton. Coach Budenholzer has a lot to do to have his team advance in the NBA playoffs.

Hey guys, I feel like at times I haven't stayed true to my core content, which is to breakdown only the most interesting X's O's aspects in basketball. I want to try to right that ship the rest of these playoffs, and hopefully this video is a good start. Big game for Bud tomorrow

I think you should make the videos that you want, no need to be hung up on things like the core of the channel. Your content is great, just have fun with it. About the video though, I think the Bucks could have some other action before going to the p&r, in most, if not all, of these clips you showed, they just do that without any prior action, that also makes it simpler for the defense. Or do you think that the heat's switchability would still prevail?

Thanks Pedro, but X's and O's insight is what I want to do! Making a video about the Lakers elite defensive personnel isn't as gratifying. And I agree they could use more movement and action before the P&R, but I think that's really hard to do as a one game "adjustment". Playing with pace and wearing defenses out is something you have to build up over the course of a season IMO.

@@Htiy The threat with Jimmy Buckets is in his name. Even if he's not shooting well he's still trying to score on how he does it well. And if defenses just want to be lax on him he'll take his 10+ FTAs and flip that to an easy 10 points to his name. The other part being the Bucks have NOBODY else who is a threat to drive and create shots with the ball. Maybe Middleton once in a while like game 4 but you asked him to do the same thing again for game 5, he's gonna fall flat.

Great breakdown of the game (also, pretty cool that you got a shout out from Thinking Basketball). As a Bucks fan, I'm nervous. Coach Bud has shown a reluctance all year to make defensive adjustments and the Bucks supporting cast is incredibly hit or miss. Guys like Donte and Planet Pat are so damn inconsistent shooting the ball. And as great as Giannis is, his free throw shooting is once again showing up as a major kryptonite in the playoffs. I've said it before and I'll say it again - his biggest flaw in his game is his free throw shooting. It'll be interesting to see how Bud plays Bledsoe when he comes back. While Bledsoe is superior to Hill in terms of playmaking, Hill is the much better shooter and overall a more consistent basketball player. I'm still holding out hope that the Bucks can make it through. Bud just has to make a few adjustments that you highlighted and the supporting cast has to play stronger defense and knock down the open ones.

Great video! Im learning a lot like I did not even notice that a tactic used is to force a player to drive a certain direction because of statistically and historically reasons. Not coach Daniel, but I think the Lakers would prefer the Thunder. Even though the Rockets don’t have the best answer to Anthony Davis, their shooting is infinitely better than the Lakers’ shooting, and they have 2 MVP-Caliber players as well. Thunder wouldn’t be as big of a deal especially because Lakers have size but CP3 might be a problem for the Lakers

@@Htiy I was thinking the duo of harden and westbrook would really cause problems for the lakers backcourt. At the same time though, the rockets won't be able to guard a lineup with mcgee/howard at center, AD at PF, and then LeBron whether he's playing SF or point guard. Overall, if I were the lakers I would probably want to play the thunder, but I think they matchup better defensively against the lakers than the rockets do.
@Htiy

John Smith Yea I agree. I think the Rockets are basically just a better version of the Trail Blazers in this matchup. I'd have to check the minutes count but Lopez did close the game, and someone will need to play center when Brook is out. They could play Robin I guess in game 2, though that hurts their spacing. C'mon, bucks can't leave good shooters open. When they get on fire it's game over. They should defend fast breaks better, but that's it. They lack of purpose and passion cost them such a difference in PiP and rebounds. Giannis is often dissapearing as a help defender. In my opinion he has to give more on the defensive end, especially that he is always limited in the offence against teams like Heat or Raptors. Btw Heat in 6
