How the CIA Created a Cocaine Dictator | The War on Drugs

In December 1989, 25,00 US troops invaded the small, Central American republic of Panama.
But this was not a war against some communist regime or terrorist group - this was a drugs bust, aimed at arresting Manuel Noriega, the dictator of Panama, who was wanted on trafficking charges in Miami.
Awkwardly for the US, Noriega had been a major CIA asset for decades - even as they knew he was becoming massively embedded with the cartels flooding the streets of the US with coke.
This is how US intelligence shielded Noriega, even as he trafficked cocaine and laundered cartel millions - and also how the War on Drugs came to replace the Cold War as the central feature of US foreign policy.

Yup its just whites on top in the end - just like the Democrat and Republican parties. It may be a POC like Obama leading, but it's whites on top in the backroom (American elites) and in thr front majority white politicians. The USA needs a 3rd major political party in the USA led by and mostly made up of POC. Ideally 5 different political parties.

Its been significantly safer than pre invasion, dont get killed or sliced up into pieces for talking against the government. Panama stopped being an ultra nationalist cocaine dictatorship. In Panama City, near an artisanal market, there was an anti America mural on the wall. American soldiers firing a bazooka at civilians hoisting the Panama flag. Yeah it's sad that vice has the reputation that it does in pop culture because for years now they've been a news outlet with a very high degree of intellectual integrity. It's undeniable that it's left-leaning, but American discourse has gotten to the point when we can't differentiate partisan from == bad unless it's my viewpoint. Like fox news broadcast content and commentary is ridiculous, but if you actually read the articles on their website, they're definitely conservative leaning but the actual journalism is solid.

Here is another thing to discuss regarding Panama 🇵🇦 when the US had bases there and owned the Canal. The US Military was clearly allowing South American cocaine to go through the canal. I am 100% sure that there were American Soldiers stationed in Panama during the 70s, 80s, 90s that were taking bribes from drug smugglers and helping the drugs go through.

The largest issue your missing when you refer to "Peaceful, good People" is that those are the ones that predators feed off of. I understand your point of view that sometimes innocents get caught up in issues between Law Enforcement and Addicts, but given the addicts associations with the "innocent (Family Members) there is no way to differentiate that if the Family can't differentiate it. A very sad situation, but a very real situation. Nobuddy wants to turn in their brother.
