Today’s feature was given a lot of nicknames growing up, like Croatian Jordan, and super Mario, but the one that stuck with him was the Croatian Superman. He was called this because there was nothing on the floor he couldn’t do, and for his elite athleticism that had him flying around the court and taking off for dunks that in any league was guaranteed excitement. It’s not usual, especially 10 years ago to see European prospects with the athletic ability Hezonja had early on in his journey, which made him a standout prospect and on the NBA radar since he was 15-16 years old. At just 13 he played his first professional game, and since then the story on his potential was nothing less than the NBA. Prior to the NBA, scouts also raved about his perfect shooting form and sweet release, where he’d elevate using his athleticism and barely followed through resulting in all net from deep range. He was 6’6 and on offense he shined having an important role in the system and when he wasn’t he was usually one of those guys that showed flashes of what were used to seeing from American stars. Neutralizing super man was a difficult task in the magazines and movies, but for Hezonja , they love you depending how many trophies you can bring in. He was supposed to be Dirk, Luka and other Euro stars balling in the league, but for these reasons his Growth was Stunted. How The Croatian SUPERMAN Became The Biggest BUST! Stunted Growth

Mario had all the right tools to become an intriguing prospect, but when he got to the league those tools needed the ones he didn't have to set them up. It's nice that he's happy again and not missing the NBA.

Why teams pick these guys that average 4 points in Europe in the high lottery I'll never understand. If you can't play in Europe, you're clearly not ready for the league

Because NBA tries to pick up the best European prospects out of Europe. Doesn't want European players to come mature and ready to play from Europe. If that happens they don't want to give them a chance to play. Look what happens with misic.

It’s upside of potential in the league . Euro players are know to be coachable and come with a professional bag young
@lance8163
@lance8163 27 күн бұрын
Its like not guys are averaging 15 ppg, 5 asts, etc. The game is completely different. No defense 3 seconds, hand checks, 40min games, assists being counted differently, etc. Honestly, a young guy averaging 5pts in Euro isn't far from a player averaging 10-15 ppg in college.
@user-vw1vf5cw7d
@user-vw1vf5cw7d 27 күн бұрын
@@lance8163 in college is much softer than European competitions, less complicated on offense and most importantly great disparity of talent, while a European professional team almost always has a certain level of performance that make even "bad" teams good enough to compete hard

Man I thought he was going to be the next great Euro star. His main problem was the jumper. Not having a great handle isn't the worst thing but if you can't knock down the jumper consistently, you're useless. Plus his height and athleticism never helped him become an elite defender. He should be having a career like Derrick Jones, Herb Jones and Trey Murphy but oh well.

7 and 2 in Euroball, and gets drafted Number 5. You can put him in a San Antonio Duncan/Ginobli/Parker/Pop system, and more than likely will still be NBA wack!
@315giants
@315giants 15 күн бұрын
Luka averaged 7 points, and BJ averaged 3. The EuroLeague is a different animal; it's uncommon for a youngster to average 20-plus points. Jokić averaged 7 points per game in the 2013-14 season and only averaged 15 points because he had been drafted after the 2013-14 season. and that's only because the ABA League team built their entire system around him to develop him before he entered the NBA. It's much harder to average high points in the EuroLeague than you might think. It's a completely different game, and all the players who have played there, whether they are European or American, say the same thing: it's a completely different game being played.
