Young activist, Chris Huriwai, takes on the giants of New Zealand’s multi-billion-dollar dairy industry. His journey uncovers alarming information about the industry's impact on the environment and our health, showing that we're on the edge of the biggest global disruption of food and agriculture in history. An international story told with a local eye, the film also points to what we can all do to change our fate.

I worked and lived in a dairy community on the Oregon coast..... Tillamook. All of the cows waste is collected into huge concrete holding tanks and is eventually used as a fertilizer. Some of the tanks have a big cover over them that collects the methane gas which powers a generator that gives electric to the farm.

@rjthomasindyusa I'm glad to know that. I frquently buy Tillamook products-butter , ice cream, and occasionally cheese. ITheir products taste very good- especially the ice cream.

@@dawnalawrence6584 Tillamook gets alot of rain. The Pacific Ocean is a few miles away on the West coast and it is surrounded by a dense forest on the East. The grass grows long and the cows have plenty of space to roam on most farms. Many of the farms have machines that scratch and massage the cows. The USDA does a pretty good job in Tillamook.

@@UnkoHoloHolo lol... Yep. I was living there during a 500 year flood. We were without power for almost a week. All of 101 was under water. I go back every few years to visit friends and unlike Portland.... Tillamook doesn't change much. Tillamook really is a magical place..... I think about it all the time.

@rjthomasindjusa Same where I live. Still, this “natural fertiliser” enters the soil ➜ enters the groundwater ➜ reaches the waterways. Moreover, biodiversity is diminished by cutting down trees and any kind of fertiliser. Methane emissions keeps being a huge problem. Worst of all, the cruelty towards the animals persists. In short: if we think keeping cows for meat and dairy can ever be sustainable or ethical, we’re kidding ourselves.

It is pity what you can not see solution - shift from obsolete nature destructive Ag to regenerative Ag which mimicking natural cycles in wilderness where cattle represent it's ecological role and improve stability of the ecosystem. Precision fermentation itself has an issue regarding obtaining material for fermentation process from destructive Ag

What environment? This is a scheme to hoodwink people. Promotion of synthetic foods by the industrial complex isn't the wise way to move. Leaving the minority rich to have control over the sources of food will be detrimental to the whole universe. They are after the middle class and are keen to kill their sources of livelihood. If this leftist climate cultists are allowed to control the food sources they will control us. I say no to synthetic industrial foods.

At point 46:16 the point was made that there isn't enough "clean" water to make Oatmilk. However they also made the huge point a bit earlier that growing crops instead of dairy farming the land took a lot less water. So are they feeding mastu eater to cows or is there something I am missing. Either there is water for cows or for plants to make plant based milk.
@CaroAbebe
@CaroAbebe 18 күн бұрын
They were referring to specific regions where the polluted water would end up in the plants, hence the oatmilk.

I was working on the roof of a huge slaughterhouse in Sioux City for a couple of months, the thousands of bulls that are standing around all day watching their friends get murdered turn gay. Guess they're just trying to get the rest..off. Everyone thought it was hilarious taking videos when they could. I do think the addition we were building was for soft music and air conditioning before...then someones dinner.

Read what Allan Nation, Joel Salatin and others have done and are doing. The knowledge of grazing or natural pruning of grassland by herbivores is more productive than most think and in multiple facets of our environment. Its good to see both sides and should be easily known especially if we know our food, meet your farmers and put your eyes and ears to know how the operation is functioning. Go further in researching everyone as it should be normal to seek knowledge.
