My Mother watched this movie two years before I was born , inspiring her to name me Kira Heart. Kira the Gelfling with wings, it also means light , to her I was her light, up until the day she passed a years ago. Now I choose to lighten the hearts of all the people I encounter in my life. Shine bright for you are a star. As regards to this video ya'll made, I feel some parts of dark crystal that should have had some light shinned on it. Like Ayghra trying with all her might to reconnect to the once again to Thra. she had spend so much time exploring the cosmos she had lost her ability to communicate with Thra or the beings that Dwell upon her. Only when Ayghra sat under a old tree and centered her self was she able to reconnect once again. If given more time I'm sure ya'll can go deeper this movie is FULL of spirituality. Good job guy

Really enjoyed this breakdown. That thing Ogra says about Jen's master is literally my favorite line in the whole film, and for sure in my top favorite lines from any movie. The Dark Crystal is a beautiful movie, and easily in my top 5 favorite films for not only being an amazing, imaginative exploration in filmmaking and puppetry, but also for the deep seated commentaries on spirituality. It also has incredible cinematography, and most of the effects are so enthralling that I often forget that it isn't a living world. Not to mention that the soundtrack by Trevor Jones is on par with John Williams' Star Wars, without all the cribbing (wink). To add to what you had mentioned in this video: it's implied in the film, and was part of the original treatment, that the Crystal itself is an effigy or facsimile for the planet Thraa. Much like how we draw our strength from the Earth both spiritually, and in regards to resources, the Skekis exploit this power. They are also able to literally suck the life essence from living beings by learning from the Crystal, like how people's life essences are used to sustain the gears of industry. They message is that we have to heal our connection with the universe & nature, and to relearn how to be the shepherds of the land, and not its overlords. The beings that eventually became the Skekis and the Mystics aren't from Thraa, and the implications of Indigenous & Ancestral Spirituality are also represented in Ogra, the Podlings, and the Gelflings, who are all native to the planet / carry a profound respect for it. Heck, every one of them could talk to animals, with some Gelflings being able to command them. Brian Froud, the designer, even made them all look like them look like they were drawn from the soil itself. If you want some insight in to the world that The Dark Crystal was made, or at least the mindset a lot of intellectuals had at the time, you should check out the documentary Koyaanisqaatsi (named after the indigenous [Hopi] word for "life out of balance"). Jim Henson was a very spiritual & intelligent person, which is commented on by the people who knew him in the special features for the making of the film. The things he wanted to say in this story are as relevant then as they are now. Sadly, I don't think many people really saw the movie for more than a "Muppets flick". I wouldn't necessarily characterize Henson as a "hippie", but I would definitely say that he was a radical, and hung out with a lot of radicals and artists. He was kinda like the Jesus of Puppets, and like Jesus, he was killed by the very system that he was trying to change. With Jesus, it was a fascist dictatorship, and with Henson, it was a work schedule & the many livelihoods that depended upon him (i.e. Capitalism). That might seem a little extreme, but Jim Henson helped change the lives of many, many people for the better, so they too can go on to do the same. The themes of this movie are pretty clear when you look past the goblins and alien landscapes.

Being a child of the Eighties, I was very fortunate to have seen The Dark Crystal on the big screen. Jim Henson and his Crew were unsurpassed, Creature Creating Legends! But I also grew up on a lot of Star Trek reruns and this episode’s theme reminds me of The Enemy Within. A Transporter malfunction splits Captain James T. Kirk into two separate parts of himself: The brave, confident, decisive side the gentle, compassionate contemplative side. As the episode progresses, Compassionate Kirk finds himself hesitant and incapable of making command decisions while Confident Kirk, without his softer side, grows increasingly arrogant, ruthless, even violent. William Shatner has received a lot of criticism for his unusual delivery of his lines in those days. But I honestly think he did an excellent job conveying how literally torn Kirk was. Compassionate Kirk despised Confident Kirk’s animalistic behavior, but came to realize that without him, he was unable to function as ship’s Captain. Just as Confident Kirk realized that he couldn’t exist without Compassionate Kirk’s kindness and altruism. The two halves would die if they weren’t made whole again. Whew! That was more of a tangent than I planned originally! But since The Enemy Within aired in 1966 and The Dark Crystal was released in 1982, I can’t help but wonder if Jim Henson had perhaps watched that particular episode. 💚🖖😁💚

I was seeing the pot(I thought it looked like a blue octopus without the top half of its head hovering over the water)in the middle of the lake last summer . My mom only seen a triangle and a rectangle black and white. When I seen the sculpture was at burning man last year , it all made sense . The first time I noticed it was actually a picture someone else had posted . After that I seen it multiple times in person . Heard the weeping woman of the lake at the lighthouse also🌬 . I just had to let that all out . I dealt with friends and family telling me I was crazy and that I shouldn’t talk about any of this . Having the eyes to see can be scary and lonely at times not many understand . I am so grateful for everyone of your videos . This was really profound for me. There are some beings that embody mostly dark. And those who meditate in caves. But I think most of us, have spiritual connection and practice, as well as, practices that attempt to fill us from the physical realm, but don't. My point is that we are both. Which is what you pointed out. SO I was thinking... is it better to continue to try to discard the desires that cause more need (like unfulfilling relationships, alcohol, sugar etc) or to just learn to find the joy and awareness in them, and stop the battle. I mean, how perfect do we have to be, to have a rich, 5th dimensional, Divine connection, while being Human? I love these videos! Thank you for all you do!!!
