How the FBI can Seize Bitcoin

On May 7, 2021, DarkSide ransomware hit ColonialPipeline. The hackers demanded 75 bitcoins (approx. $4.4M), and Colonial complied.
BUT, the hackers' mistake? Using crypto exchanges for transactions.
The U.S. government tracked the movement, and with the FBI's coordination, the funds were frozen on the exchanges.
Crypto exchanges have control over Bitcoin wallets. Had DarkSide used an offline ColdWallet, the FBI's task would've been way tougher if not impossible.
