In the second half of the 900s, the Vikings return to France, but this time they choose unification over robbery. With a political connection, this paves the way for the Duchy of Normandy.

This channel has some of the most interesting and fascinating documentaries on anywhere. I use KZbin a lot when I'm working sometimes I listen to audiobooks sometimes I just listen to the documentary and don't even watch it. So I just want you to know that I appreciate it and I get a ton of enjoyment from watching them. And there is nothing more interesting then the history of Normandy and the Vikings and the plantagenets. You couldn't write a better movie script then the events that took place in these people's lives. With all the Espionage and Intrigue and murder and Sons betraying fathers, Brothers betraying Brothers, Queen betraying her King which was unheard of at the time. It's just a really interesting in European history. I'm from the US our history is very short just like our memories 😂 but I'm fascinated by all these countries that have survived for so long and been through these perilous times. And it makes me hopeful for the future of the United States that one day we will have such a rich history as you do

This channel is run by a production company that relicenses already existing documentaries (they don’t make them) and put them on KZbin for others to see outside the native releases. They’re called little dot studios and they’ve got quite a few channels on here! Wonder, On the Move, Odyssey, Paths, Timeline and several others all of which have just as many documentaries available albeit with quite a bit of overlap. Just incase you’re looking for more content like this! I treat them like audiobooks as well depending on what I’m doing so having as many options as possible has been great

@@Butane-lj6tr The American Continent has a long history; the US only goes back to the late 1700's. Before then we were colonists and our stories were British, French, German, Dutch, etc ... I was watching a Wired video series (3 in total) on the different accents across the country, and something that gave me joy was the fact that Native tribes are beginning to envelope their children in language and culture, reaching them when they're small and impressionable, their minds capable of growing and developing with the knowledge they take in. To me, it was like a reclamation from what the Settlers did in pulling the Native children out of their tribes and forcefully indoctrinating them in English. We can never go back and re-write history, and there will always be parts that are forever lost to us. We cannot cast the blame of our ancestors on those living today, but we can take note of our past and seek ways to make bridges and try to reclaim some of what was lost. That's part of why I love history videos like this. When we have a better understanding of what went on in the human aspect of history, we have a better capacity for revisiting the past and actually learning how to redirect our future towards a course that is beneficial to all involved.

Its fascinating stuff. The Japanese as of prior to ww2 were up there as well. Vikings are definitely my favorites. They didn't die off, the evolved and many people don't seem to understand this. They also took Russia, lost it to the Mongols, then drove the Mongols out permanently. No one has taken "Russia" (viking name) since. The history of how the Vikings took Russian trade routes from the Persians is fascinating as well. I also find the cold war history especially interesting. Good stuff!!!!

His name was HROLF (meaning wolf), not "Rollo" - He was actually nicknamed Hrolf the Ganger which in Norway, where he was born, meant Hrolf the Walker, because he was too tall and large for a horse to carry him so he walked almost everywhere. Hrolf agreed to be baptized a Catholic as part of his deal with King Charles in France who gave him land to settle, later known as Normandy. As part of the deal, he had to also take another name which was ROBERT, also known as Rollo in Latin. But he never went by that name; only as Hrolf and he continued to be a pagan. Wish historians would stop calling him Rollo! Hrolf was my ancient ancestor through his descendant Guillaume, Duke of Normandy, who conquered England at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 and was crowned William I, King of England.

In our youth we read W. Scott - "Rob Roy", "Aivengo". Maurice Hewlett - "Richard the Lionheart" and many others, these works contain the spirit of nobility inherent in the Aryans. However, the base of the language rests on the Edda. From the English God to the mainland Gott and other languages and from there has a connection with Troy. This line is traced by other researchers. Past, The present, Future. The Elder Edda Norns are three sorceresses endowed with the gift of determining the fate of the world, people and gods. Their names are Urd (past), Verdandi (present), Skuld (future) "Norns they came to predict fate, ... they judged that he would be glorified by the best of the kings ... They brought the golden thread to the sky, tied it to the chambers of the moon. " (First Song of Helga ...) Veda "…I know everything that has happened in the past, all that is happening in the present, and all things that are yet to come. I also know all living entities; but Me no one knows"(Bhagavad-gita 7, 26).

Leading up to the 20:00m. When one is impressed with becoming Christian it does not mean ignoring all other aspects of life. More like, "there! That is what I want to *learn* (not take or replace)". When I learned bodywork, I did not stop believing in the existence of grocery stores and automobiles. I appreciate the two latter, but I do not get excited about learning cars or food. I should be a better human by learning cars and foods. Their existence and significance do not negate my occupational calling. Anyone else see this not as either-or here, but, "help me learn a new" even if a faith conversion?

They fought the Battle of Hastings with him and won, making William the next in line for the throne of England.. My Ancestors stayed with William in England while other members of the family went to the New World with one of the Ericsons.. They came through Canada into the New World.. It was 800 years before Columbus came to the Islands off the coast of So. America.. Columbus never arrived in America.. My ancestors in England became Nobles and Lords.. From Vikings they became Knights and gentleman.. There is a lot more to the story, however and I will finish this later.. Nite !

Vikings are not a religion, especially a modern props for Vikings. It is necessary to awaken that good beginning, which is in their language in the field of mythology. This the mythology is the same among the Germans, Scandians, and other peoples. It is rooted in the Indian Vedas. If you raise this layer, it will be of great help to the ideology of the future. I am surprised that this topic is being raised and this is very good in all respects. If on a planetary scale the Vedas take the first place, then their second reflection is Sumerian, and the third is Scandinavian mythology. Oddly enough, there is a close connection between them.

1. It is possible that the Germans did not call themselves Aryans for nothing, in addition to having a common root, they have a very similar mythology. The questions of Norman DNA theory cause, for a number of reasons, bewilderment. R1a as well as R1b has come a long way and can be traced back. However, this theory has Scandinavian halftones. Germanic-Scandinavian legends repeat Vedic stories. ...Surt rules the fire giants. On the day of Ragnarok, his hordes will move northward "like the south wind" to fight the Aesir gods. In the battle, Surt will kill Freyr, his sword will cut down the world tree Yggdrasil, and this will be the beginning of the death of the whole world. The Grove of Hoddmimir will remain as it is the place where his fiery sword loses its power. Also, the palace of Gimle will survive, in which righteous people will live at all times. (Scandinavian epic). Veda “At the time of devastation, when Lord Anantadeva desires to destroy the entire creation, He becomes slightly angry. Then from between His two eyebrows appears three-eyed Rudra, carrying a trident. This Rudra, who is known as Sāṅkarṣaṇa, is the embodiment of the eleven Rudras, or incarnations of Lord Śiva. He appears in order to devastate the entire creation."(Srimad Bhagavatam 5.25,3). 2. German The river as the border between the world of the living and the dead. Scandinavian stories The Huhl River. After the death of the god of spring, the son of Odin descended after him into the kingdom of the dead and came to this river. Ambassador Hermat is the son of Odin. Veda "A person who is born into a responsible family - such as a kṣatriya, a member of royalty or a government servant - but who neglects to execute his prescribed duties according to religious principles, and who thus becomes degraded, falls down at the time of death into the river of hell known as Vaitaraṇī. This river, which is a moat surrounding hell, is full of ferocious aquatic animals. When a sinful man is thrown into the river Vaitaraṇī, the aquatic animals there immediately begin to eat him, but because of his extremely sinful life, he does not leave his body. He constantly remembers his sinful activities and suffers terribly in that river, which is full of stool, urine, pus, blood, hair, nails, bones, marrow, flesh and fat."(Srimad Bhagavatam 5,26,22). In other sources, this river is known as Leta and Styx.

The heavenly city of Amaravati and the heavenly Asgard. Asgard. Rainbow Bridge - connects Asgard with the earth, it is guarded by Heimdall, the guardian of the gods and the world tree, the son of nine mothers. The abode of Odin, the head of the gods, Heavenly Asgard, in the center is Odin's palace with a large hall, the hall of feasts. Palaces of the demigods. "Asgard stood unprotected ... - I [Svadilfari] can build a wall ... that will stand for a thousand thousand years" (Edda, "The Great Builder"). Amaravati "... Matali soared into the sky, and my gaze, O bharata, saw the land where the wise and heavenly chariots live. Matali, the driver of Indra, happily showed me Nandana and other gardens of the gods. And then I saw Amaravati, the city of Shakra, decorated gems and (seated) with heavenly trees, bearing whatever fruits you wish. The sun does not blind here, there is no heat, no cold, no fatigue, there is no dust, no dirt, no darkness. There is no here, O king, no old age, no sorrow, no sorrow, and paint is here do not lose their brightness. "(Mahabharata, ook Forest ,164). The capital of Svarga is Amaravati, the kingdom of Indra, the king of the gods. In the center of Amaravati is Vaijayanta, the palace of Indra. This beauty was erected by Vishvakarma, the architect of the gods. Whatever you say, it is easier to understand the Vedas if the basic cultures coincide. The paths to Amaravati run through impassable mountains covered with snow and ice to the very top of Meru, and then along the star road. This heavenly path can only be passed by those who serve good, fulfill the law.

Veda " Ūṣā, the wife of Vibhāvasu, gave birth to three sons - Vyuṣṭa, Rociṣa and Ātapa. From Ātapa came Pañcayāma [day], the span of day, who awakens all living entities to material activities." (Srimad Bhagavatam 6, ch. 6, volume 16). "1 The earth holds on to the truth. The sun keeps the sky. Adityas exist by law (I) Soma [Moon], arranged in heaven. "(Rigveda. X, 85..107) .

The Christianity introduced to northern Europe was only "partial" in that tradition and policy of the Church nullified the original principles.

Correct. If they had the full gospel and old testament they would have known that. They would have faked it for the catholic church and became true Christians in the meantime. There are many similarities between Odin and Christ. Also the mother maiden and the crone, via the three Marys. I'm sure they saw this. Vikings were in the Americas also during and after this period of time. There are Viking crosses in America.

false english rewrite of history. They weren't vikings but a mix of gauls and not really scandinavian anymore. They had Latin genetics and passed that onto england to this day. England is more latinized than it is germanic and you especially see that in the cultural customs of it's higher classes but also middle class who opt their children learn French if got the means.

It's so empty & vague to hear secular "academics" dismiss the importance of Christianity in history. They always have to make it some kind of fable that someone could find salvation in Jesus Christ. They cannot muster the faith to believe, so SURELY they cannot allow me to believe either.

@@willbe5994 Okay. If they were being objective, that means they should be unbiased, correct? Then, why not include that some the Vikings were motivated by their salvation and desired that type of culture and not that they were just playing along with a game to be able to trade in a particular area.

@@abelincoln95 it’s my guess that if they had any written evidence to that effect, such as letters, journals or writing from monks like the one they discussed they certainly would have talked about that as well. Also it’s impossible for anyone to be 100% unbiased so yeah I’m sure they saw the writing from that one monk and maybe lean in that direction.

Really? Isn't there someone, not a French-speaker at the U. of Denmark, that speaks English and can tell about the research? (Of course, there is...) I came to watch the scenes, the actors, the scenery; not read sub titles! I exited this English language-compromise at 10:48.
