Increasing taxes wouldn't see a revolt in the streets as Australians know all to well that protesting about government on masse would bring an equally draconian government response with all the people protesting being labeled as Far Right. So they can only vent their anger at the ballot box which makes little to no difference because which party out of our duopoly ends up getting into power they govern for themselves, their multi national overseas owners and their billionaire friends not for the voting people of Australia. Australia doesn't lead the world in anything for Australia follows the world with it's corrupt and bought politicians of the duopoly.

It's got nothing to do with any political party. It's just part of the economic cycle. The cycle will continue until the system changes. Tax the land, not the labour of the individual. Australia is propped up by immigration. The natural birthrate is in decline actually freefall. The elderly nearly 5mil people in Australia pay minimal tax they're in retirement they pay GST but they aren't feeding a bunch of kids of paying for children so their living costs are less. Very soon the bust will kick in. The thing to watch is wages and credit creation. Let's see how creative credit gets before the next bust

Surely they can tax or claim royalties on the resources we export(oil, gas, iron ore etc)... currently giving most of it away for free...hundreds of billions of dollars that can benefit Australians annually (free uni, better infrastructure, build houses etc). Be like Qatar or Norway or we will end up like Nauru. Also income tax was brought in to fund world wars in the past, but they never rescinded it...why?

Yes, the property prices are debt financed, and as such will fall with the weak economy. To maintain price growth, we'd need a strong economy, which we don't have at the moment. Everything can be turned around, but we need smart people in power, not Labor or LNP. Vote fresh, learn about the preference system. Vote small parties as No 1 and the your next choice. Vote smart!

A per capita recession is not that we're getting poorer, it's that the work we do doesn't generate as much value to the economy as it once did. So many Australians are at jobs that are menial and boring, whereas other countries are manufacturing / designing / on the factory floor which makes their economy a powerhouse (if the products sell well).

I’ve seen NDIS programs whereby they have workers come to cook/clean for the resident - only thing is there’s nothing actually wrong with the client, they’re just taking advantage of of a loophole and the service provider don’t bother checking cause they’re getting paid 🙄🤦‍♂️

Please stop preaching raising property prices. Don't overestimate the rate cut. You cant compare 1990 and 2008 to the current situation. Back then we had a much better economy, these days fundamentals are not on our side. The debt levels were much different. Wedge growth was much higher. Back then the property market was supported by stron economic findamentals, today all of the property gains are supported purely by government policies and debt. This cant go forever, because without ecpnomic greowth, the prices cant go up forever. So you only increase debt. We need to start investing in innovation, diversify from property and migration as the main source of economic growth. Use our matural rwsources as leverage for our economy. Incentivise foreign business investment.

It's why we need to tax the megawealthy (billionaires), large corporations and put an end to tax evasion in the top tax brackets. Where the super wealthy don't draw an income we need to legislate other ways to tax their assets. There are those that are so wealthy they really don't know where to go with their money. Would like to hear your opinion on the movement started by Gary Stevenson (book "The Trading Game.) He's a UK economist turned activist. He says if we don't stop the wealth tranfer soon we will lose the middle class and the way to do it is to tax the mega rich.

Unbelievable. You equate inflation after COVID with 'quantative easing' (printing money) when there's no evidence that happened. The largest influx of government funds EVER to hit the economy, with zero growth (and bugger all activity) produced lower inflation, CPI, and GDP growth. So much for the Chicago school fallacies. There were supply side issues (duh; the world shut down and stayed home) which meant production could not meet demand, ergo the cost of goods increased. If you cannot get even this simple fact right, I understand why your other predictions are just fiction. If you think Governments with a fiat currency like Australia need to 'increase tax' to provide jobs, you've also got the cart before the horse... creating government jobs does not stimulate inflation.... unless of course you're claiming there's a bunch of private sector corporations who are clamouring to provide services on a non-profit basis for e.g. aged care homes. Seriously?

@VideoAssociates luckily most boomers are self sufficent as they started working a lot earlier, but in future we will have a lot of people leaving the work force early due to obesity.

"In 1990, the interest rate was 18%, which was roughly half of the average yearly wages for most people. Currently, interest rates are around 6-8%. and that’s 97% of the average income now With this significant difference, it's unlikely that home values will increase substantially. The dynamics of the market have changed, and in some areas, home prices could drop by 40 to 60%, rather than just 5%."

While home prices may rise further from their current levels, a correction is necessary first. Many people can no longer afford to buy a house, and cautious investors are proceeding carefully. Reflecting on the 1990 recession, home prices decreased by 5-10%. Back then, people were still able to manage with wages that were half their earnings after an 18% interest rate If we were to see interest rates rise to 10% now, the housing market could crash in an instant. Currently, at a 6% interest rate, many are dedicating a significant portion of their wages to home payments on minimum average houses. A correction could occur between 2026 and 2030, but it is on the horizon unless wages increase to $200,000 a year.

IF a correction does occur, you have to ask why? The masses don’t have cash flow? Why? They don’t have work? So they they can’t buy anyway. Again who will snap up bargains? Investors
