Harpy eagles are an amazing keystone species, and they need to be protected! 🦅💛 According to a new study, the Harpy is struggling to feed its young in parts of the rainforest that have been stripped of trees. About 17% of the Amazon has been destroyed over the past 50 years, and losses have recently been on the rise. Considering that harpy eagles have the slowest life cycle of all bird species, they're running out of time. This is why the great conservation efforts of Projeto Harpia are more important than ever. Please consider supporting their work by sharing this video, visiting their website 🔗 www.projetoharpia.org or by spreading some love for the conservation team on their youtube channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmS8hWd4esyYbpY

We (as Brazilians) used to see more of those beatiful birds in the past... Nowadays you need to stay days in the already scarce deep jungle camping, just to be able to find one (and this kind of tourism was a hype in the Amazon and near neighbor States where they still have somekind of conservation area)... The statistics says that we lost only 17% of the rainforest in the past 50 years... but why it looks and feels like we lost SO MUCH MORE? The aftermath of deforestation is dire and its not just "trees that have been removed"...When you remove trees, you mess with a BIG part in the equation and bad things starts to happen...Sandy and dry nutrient poor soil, dry and dusty air, poor water quality... Polluted rivers... ALL of that near or between "protected" areas... Extensive agriculture is KILLING IT just by having its activities near(because of toxic agrochemicals and many other things) Its just not a wide spread information in here and because the population in this country really does little to protect the nature... They are too busy watching football (or soccer, you call it)... And of course, soap operas aired on TV almost every day. Sad...

I agree with you. There are a lot of research (from great Universities from Brazil, like USP and UniCamp ) which shows how fragile is the Equilibrium of the Amazon Rainforest. This incredible ecossystem do relies on its enormous area to exist. Thus, its fragmentation is a big problem for Brazil, even to the agriculture, because it depends of the humidity that is provided by the Amazon Rainflorest.

It's not true that the mother has most of the responsibility. The father is continuously hunting for food to bring back to the nest for not only the chick but also the mother, whilst also feeding himself. No matter where you look, even on a KZbin video about birds of prey the fathers role is always downplayed whilst the mothers get extra respect for her role. Why has the west become like this? This attitude is the reason why human mothers are given priority and bias when it comes to family courts, leading to many good fathers being kept out of their childrens lives, causing the children to become disfunctional adults who can't contribute to society. I'm just so sick of it. One day soon, western society will collapse because of it and they'll deserve it.
