Russians buy a tree not for Christmas but for the New Year. Christmas isn’t that popular in Russian at all, which is mainly for religious people. It would be good if you did a better research, otherwise some things sound simply ridiculous.
@plomben
@plomben 14 күн бұрын
Do some research yourself! Christmas is already becoming very popular again in Russia, and it's a part of Putin's plan. He wants the "traditional values" back, and religious festivities are an important part of that. Way more Russians celebrate Christmas now, than ten years ago.

so there was this period in my life when i kept attracting the wrong people, wrong opportunities, everything just felt…off. i couldn’t figure out why it kept happening. then one day, a friend mentioned a book called Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, saying it helped them see the patterns they didn’t even realize they had. i decided to give it a read, and wow, it opened my eyes to how much my own energy was shaping my life. seriously, this book is something else.

@@maxblanck123 You’re missing some basic economics here. Paying someone to dig a hole and fill it back up boosts GDP but adds no real value or benefit to society. The same applies to weapons-produced only to be destroyed-which make up a big chunk of GDP. In Russia’s case, without military production, their GDP would actually shrink by 4-5%. Food for thought

I hope next year the councils can no longer afford Christmas. anything for the Russian people to tire against there anti western views and realise like there former comrades that this is all a lot of nonsense! For understanding price is rising. For example, bread cost 80 cents, and now it costs 1 dollar. But the price of the most important products remains the same and for understanding, who says that a normal standard of living is only in Moscow or St. Petersburg. This is not true. In the regions, the wage level is lower, but the products are cheaper and the living space is also cheaper. Most Russians have their own apartments. The state supports families. The rise in prices has hit more vulnerable groups of the population such as pensioners. You don't need to ask the young about the rise in prices, they work. Salaries have also increased by 20-30% over the past 2 years and more than cover the rise in prices.

Pathetic. The UK has similar issues, with economic growth forecasts being recently cut and high levels of debt. 2025 is already shaping up to be a difficult year for Britain. Earlier this week it was reported that the yield on British 30-year Government bonds - or “gilts” - had risen to their highest level since 1998. At 5.22%, the current yield on a 30-year Government bond is now higher than when the markets experienced a convulsion after the failed tax cuts of the Liz Truss government in 2022. The last time that yields were this high was because the Bank of England needed to raise interest rates dramatically to stem the bleeding from the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Because this was an external problem, 1998 is not a crisis year in British memory. But today the yields are high simply because the markets are becoming less interested in holding British public debt. The problem is that the British Government is still borrowing heavily with a budget deficit of 4.4% of GDP. The rise in yields reflects the fact that the Government is having to issue very large volumes of debt into the markets. Analysts are saying that the market demand for these assets is mixed with the recent auction having the weakest oversubscription rate since 2023. Labour will now be forced to continue risking ever higher interest rates or engage in even more austerity, likely by hiking taxes. This is a precarious position to be in. In 2023, the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) registered its concerns that the share of debt held by foreigners had doubled since 2004 to around 25%. Britain has been running enormous trade deficits in recent years, contributing to the changes in the share of debt. The only way that the country can live far beyond its means is to sell financial assets to foreigners. The UK economy grew 1.1% in 2024, but debt is expected to equal 4.5% of GDP. This contrasts with Russia, whose economy grew 3.6% and whose deficit was 1.9% of GDP.

The high inflation that the Russian economy is dealing with includes the cost of war, higher wages for the conscripts going to war, the high salaries of millions working in military factories, and sanctions. However, once the war comes to a halt, as eventually all wars do, there will be millions who will be out of high paying jobs, including providing tax revenues back to the state. Thus, inflation, subsequent unemployment, and lowering oil prices will be issues that will continue to drive down the Russian economy and provide a slow, if not a stagnant, recovery. So, even if Russia wins the war, which is doubtful, it still loses a decade of growth. JUST SAYING...

UK inflation is 2.6 per cent. Russia claims its inflation rate is 9 per cent but few economists believe this figure. Bank of England base rate is 4.75 per cent, following two reductions in recent months, Russian central bank rate 21 per cent and would probably be higher without the Kremlin's interference. Get your facts straight before you comment.
