Please watch: "The Life Of Marius de Romanus (Vampire Chronicles)"
• Video -~-
Despite his horrific crimes of torture, murder and overwhelming oppression of muggles and muggleborns, what’s most memorable about Lord Voldemort is his unnatural, and abnormal appearance. The Dark Lord’s once handsome looks, which allowed him to charm and captivate so many of those he encountered in youth became nothing but a distant memory and one he cared not to remember, not out of sadness, but out of callous as he simply didn’t care. It was always worth it for the reward of achieving immortality, and achieve immortality he did. Many, if not all Harry Potter fans are aware of what a horcrux is, and how a young Tom Riddle split his soul to bond himself permanently to the living world. What Tom didn’t count on however, was just how adverse the effects of splitting his soul would have on his physical human appearance. In todays video, I’m going analyse and investigate, horcrux by horcrux, the declining stages of Tom Riddle’s appearance from his very first horcrux at just 16 until his last, Nagini, his snake. With that being said everyone, if want to join me in my investigation on exactly how Tom Riddle’s appearance changed, stage by stage, horcrux by horcrux, then stick around, you won’t want to miss this.

KING KARNAGE That's one of the flaws I thought was the most noticable with Tom's character. Rowling is a great writer when she wants to be but she never showed the slow descent into why Tom believed in Wizard Supremacy. We're just supposed to believe that he woke up one day and ever since then he's been evil simply because he can't comprehend love. She never fully fleshed out his character. Not to mention how incompetent he was when he wasn't the mastermind orchestrating events behind the curtain. It would've been nice if Tom had found a note or something that expressed how much his parents didn't want him, and his hatred of Muggleborns was built up from bullying, or something.

But that’s the point of his character. Contrary to popular theory, flawless characters are not interesting. In Voldemort’s case, his whole personality revolves around the desire for absolute control. he has the Dark Triad of personality. Narcissism, Machiavellianism, and psychopathy. His need for control extends far greater than a normal human. The symptoms manifest in childhood and get worse as one get older. In this case, creating the horcruxes not only damaged his body, but I would argue his mind as well. In this case, he was already on his way to becoming evil through his desire for control. It didn’t help that his damaged mind pushed him further in that direction. He really doesn’t need more fleshing out, as his Dark Triad would have him do similar things over and over again. It wouldn’t be that interesting. Also his incompetence when not in control is also a trait of the Dark Triad. He build everything around himself, so naturally everything fell apart when he wasn’t around. a show depicting his rise to power would be fun to watch, but it shouldn’t be focused about fleshing him out.

I think that Tom Riddle also embraced his serpentine looks because he thought that this was a true reflection of his magic"ness". It reflected the death of everything that was human in him. He really hated his half blood status so, he probably saw this is the death of that half promoting him to be full blooded in the wizard world.

Is everyone forgetting that Riddle had his physical body destroyed by the rebounding Killing Curse he cast on Harry? The body that he "acquired" was a magical construct. Is it not completely possible that Riddle's mangled soul would have, in turn, mangled the magical construct in the process of possession?
@a2isha
@a2isha 4 жыл бұрын
That is a great point but technically he did have that fetus body, after being put in the cauldron maybe the spell just made him stronger?
@azerdraco3146
@azerdraco3146 4 жыл бұрын
@@a2isha I am unable to directly quote from Book 4 about it, but I do believe that Riddle likely gained that "fetal form" from both the possession of Quirrel in Book 1 and having Quirrel drink unicorn blood to strengthen him. Quirrel took the physical damage and degredation while Riddle absorbed the magical power from the blood and drained Quirrel of whatever he had remaining at the end of Book 1. Riddle states that he possessed snakes while in hiding, and that they "never lasted long". Perhaps the infusion of magical energy from Unicorn Blood and Quirrel gave Riddle enough presence that he was able to "haunt" the old Riddle house in secret between the end of Book 1 and the start of Book 4. Once Wormtail and Crouch returned to him, he possessed a large snake and used its body as a temporary shell for that year until the ritual was ready. In Book 4, we never actually get any clear description of Riddle's body other than as something repulsive. A decaying and seformed snake would definitely fit that.

I think I gave a theory that as he mangled his soul, his soul became less and less human and more and more animal-like. Notice that he displays many snake-like traits both before and after creating the Horcruxes. He camouflages himself before sneaking up on his prey to strike with deadly speed and precision. He's relentless and cunning in pursuing his goals. And he can't help but bite those around him, even those that showed support and kindness like Professor Slughorn (The Farmer and the Viper fable). Maybe other wizards that created Horcruxes displayed other animal traits based on which they resembled?

Something I always wondered was how Tom was able to go out in public without anyone questioning his altered appearance, but it just occurred to me that he could’ve easily gotten away with just saying it was some sort of medical condition. Even Dumbledore had his moments of less than stellar behavior. Even if he wasn't a result of a love potion, I don't see him being good. If he got discarded by his father for any reason, I believe the resentment would have turned him. Since his mother wasn't the strongest, at the point she would have died I believe he would have become bitter. The potential abandonment issues would have turned him against his parents. The only save that would have not turned him would have been a good marriage between his parents and them being good parents. Since most people don't have perfect marriages or become great parents.....

One can kind of say Voldemort could be considered at least in the same category as that of a lich. Like Voldemort, liches tether their souls to an object in order to cheat death. The only real difference is Voldemort's physical body was for all intents and purposes still alive, while a lich's physical body is biologically dead after the process is complete.

Artfully done, and insightful as usual. It was even handed of you to acknowledge not only Tom's unfortunate upbringing, but the fact that none, much less himself were even aware intricacies of this spell. None knew what would truly happen to one who succeeded in completing the process as written. To dive not once, but seven times into such an unknown? Regardless of one's opinion they'd be forced to acknowledge, even admire, his resolve to do so. To distance himself from his world by removing his form, his soul, really. A testament to how frightening it is to always feel "other". Perhaps, had he occasion to learn more, he would have focused upon his initial goal of mastering wizardry, rather than doing everything he could to distance himself from those he felt were only ever out to shackle him? Fantastic job with this one, Sir. Cheers.

My question is... In the books, it said “Killing splits the soul” so...does that mean everyone who has ever murdered has a split soul and the Horcrux process is just a method of anchoring a certain piece? Or can one only split their soul with the intention of creating a Horcrux?
@nessycyrodiil
@nessycyrodiil 3 жыл бұрын
It is only when you intend to make The Horcrux, the creation of which on itself requires a very dark and a heavily masked ritual made beforehand. Voldemort had mastered the ritual, so by the time his 4th Horcrux was created he didn't even notice his soul ripping apart, because his soul was already damaged enough. Which explained how he didn't even know Harry was his Horcrux all along. Otherwise we'd have lots of Death Eaters running around looking like lizards with their souls stitched inside every random thing on the way.

Right?! It's so vague We know that you need to kill someone to split your soul, but if that was the only requirement then practically everyone involved in the War would have at least one Horcrux. And if the process is such dark magic then how did Voldemort ACCIDENTALLY do it? How does one accidentally complete such a dark and secret spell. Does it require a word (like most of, if not all the magic in the Wizarding world) such as expelliarmus or stupefy? Does it require a particular wand movement? Additional materials? Who knows? My theory is that it was much easier for Voldemort to split his soul by the time he undertakes to kill Harry, because his soul was already so unstable from being split so many times. That would explain some of why a piece of his soul inadvertently split off and planted itself in Harry. But even then, that doesn't explain how such a dark and hidden piece of magic could occur without the intent or knowledge of the caster! It's so fascinating but Rowling barely explores it at all!
@xerxesriddle1821
@xerxesriddle1821 4 жыл бұрын
From what I read, to make a horcrux you have to kill someone as it is the most evil act to ever be done it will rip your soul, so by killing someone a piece of your soul is fragmented and you have to encase that piece into something. Which is what Voldemort did by killing mrytle and the fragmented piece of his soul he encases into his diary. In the case of Harry Potter he is a pseudo horcrux, which isn't really a horcrux because it doesn't contaminate the host with darkness, when he used the killing curse on the Harry, because his mother shielded him it rebounded back onto Voldemort which fragmented his soul and looked for the nearest host which happened to be baby Harry.

Rowling has stated that the method for creating a Horcrux is too vile to even speak of, so there is no way to accidentally create a Horcrux if you haven’t made one before. That all alone implies that the method of doing it is not just a random spell, it would require a ritual of some kind.

Interesting analysis. Me and my friend were debating the creation of Horcruxes a few weeks back. We were discussing that too create one could it be that the person has too sacrifice a part of their body in order to bind their soul to an object. The best example of this is the Locket. Before Ron destroys it you can see an eye in the open Locket. Could this be Voldermort's eye which caused his eyes too bleed red?? Could also explain how in the Philosopher's stone Voldermort is shown too have a nose whereas when he emerges from the cauldron in the Goblet of Fire he only has a slit for a nose. During this time period he creates a seventh Hocruxe in the form of Nagini.

Is murder really all that's necessary to create a horcrux? Don't get me wrong, murder is bad, but it's such a common crime, and considering saying "Avada Kedavra" is sooooo much easier than the muggle forms of murder, I don't understand how something so simple, something so many Death Eaters have done, can lead to a horcrux. I always thought cannibalism or child sacrifice (like, Satanic-gory stuff) would be involved. Considering you're saying horcruxes are the "darkest of magic" and "taboo", murder alone seems pretty tame, granted it's murder in large quantities. By that logic, more real-life murders are a threat than Voldemort; hell, I'd take Voldemort over Jeffrey Dahmer or HH Holmes anyday. The killing curse is one-and-done; what those infamous murderers have done to their victims is beyond worse. BTW sorry for the rant. Also, sorry if I got too real there LOL

I agree I wish they'd had that scene with Voldemort and Dumbledore when he came back. I wish the movie would have included more scenes of a young Tom Riddle. I don't think it will ever happen but I wish they would make a official film series of a young Tom Riddle. I would've rather have seen this over "Fantastic Beasts".

The meeting between Dumbledore and Voldemort is probably the best scene in the whole saga. However Michael Gambon's portrayal of the headmaster is so poor that, if they included the scene, definitely Voldemort would be the most charming, respectful and polite of them 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ok but by the time of order of the Phoenix and onwards Gambon made Dumbledore a lot less intense in his acting by then.

4:25 Myrtle wasn't the first victim. He was in his final year at Hogwarts when he opened the chamber and killed Myrtle. He had already killed his father and grandparents by the time he was 16 (6th year)

Lol Voldemorts appearance reminds me of Darth Plaquis. So that means Harry is going to be Palpatine when he gets older. Respectful reputation on the outside,but very manipulative in secret.

I think he was also secretly glad, since he so desperately wanted to shun his connection to his father. His looks, although good, bore resemblance to his father's, a filthy muggle who abandoned him and his mother.
