While I believe in the biblical account of creation, and I love Stuart Burgess (he is a reason I watched the video), I detect what may be a weakness in his argument. 12:05 On the table shown at the above reference point, one of points he makes is the human hand was designed for writing with a pen. But isn’t the opposite true? That pen was specifically designed to be used by the human hand to best write with, not the other way around. Unless, perhaps, there is something that I’m missing in my understanding.

No, you have a point if you take it direct and literal… but you could extrapolate or deepen or broaden the point (whichever it would be in this case) by saying: “The human hand is extremely adroit, able to make precise, key movements thanks to the muscles being in the forearm to reduce the bulk of the hand itself. You have the choice in joints as well, where the knuckles have a lot more flexibility but further down you have just up-and-down motion thanks to a genius sort of pulley that helps the finger curl up. So… while mankind created pens, their hands were adroit enough TO create. Try giving a duck a pen for its webbed foot, or give a panda (who also have opposable thumbs) a pen, and while the panda may have somewhat adroit hands, its hands are not as capable and flexible as ours and its hasn’t been granted the mental faculties that we humans have been granted in order to think to create a pen for the purpose of expressing language in a more permanent and portable way.

Also his point about the pen was directly that the human hand is very flexible and skillful (adroit was the word I used, but it means skillful). He didn’t actually say that the hand was made for the pen, he said the hand is unique in its performance capabilities, with the finest movements and sensitive interactions. When he said you would expect our adroit hands if God created, this is because it’s an extremely elegant engineering design, an extremely versatile and compact and beautiful member of the body itself, and extremely beautiful to reflect out Creator by giving us the capability to create in a way that bird nests and beaver dams cannot come close to!
