Thanks for tuning in. Hidden Strength unveils the stories of resilience within the informal economy of Juba. Through expert interviews and local business owners, the film demonstrates how honest livelihoods can be forged even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below. Please remember that any hateful and appropriate comments will be removed.

The development of a country starts in people ‘s minds, and it is a slow process that needs patience and hard work . South Sudan may be among the poorest countries in the world today . But it is growing slowly. Its citizens are resilient and resourceful. The developed countries that enjoyed great wealth today came a long way. South Sudan is a new country which has a potential for greatness. As a South Sudanese who lives abroad, stories like these inspire me and keep my hope up. Those small business owners are strong individuals with positive outlook to life. I wish them success and good health. I hope all young South Sudanese will follow that path instead of causing destruction with guns. Wealth is something that doesn’t come naturally. You have to create it.

I am so proud of my people, they are working hard to make it, it’ll get better. At least, they’re free to start their businesses, not like in other countries, you can’t even think of starting your own business.

I met Manute Bol at Jomo Kenyatta Airport in Nairobi on February 14, 2008. Very nice gentlman who was kind enough to indulge the NBA fan in me. I had some South Sudanese friends when I lived in Canada, good cats who have been through unspeakable trauma. Best of luck South Sudan

The situation is the same in: Mauritania, Burundi, Sudan, Yemen, Central African Republic, Syria etc. The informal sector is the main engine of the economy and what's feeding most people.
