@@doomnotron @DOOMNOTRON Game 7 would not have happened. The series should have ended at 6. The kings were really terrible at the line in that series. Especially in game 7 which I said, should not have happened. Game 4 was the kings fault blowing a huge lead I admit that. Game 5 Lakers got robbed? Smh. I don't think so. But you cannot compare that last play of game 5 to all the terrible calls in game 6.
@annsy83644 жыл бұрын
@@doomnotron @DOOMNOTRON I gotta agree with that adelman situation. The last time I saw him choking, he was coaching the rockets. Yes that's how kobe and shaq plays that is why they are one of the best 1-2 punch of all time. I can't deny facts about them. Webber was a choker his whole career and im not a big fan of him. If the you're talking about the screen of webber against fisher, that's not an offensive foul to me. But 27 free throws given to LA, offensive foul on webber in the last 3, minutes, the elbow of kobe to bibby for just that last play in game 5? Not a good trade for me. If lakers won game 5 and kings won game 6. Then game 7 should have been a different story, the lakers can win or the kings can win. Just what could have been. Doug Christie wasn't the "worse starter", he entered in the league being a slasher and then, when he started playing with bigger stars, he became a defensive specialist and a reliable 3 point shooter. He was smart enough to back off and let the more talented players lead the game, while keep contributing for the team. Who do you think had the task of guarding Kobe Bryant in that serie? Stojaković was effective only on the offensive side of the court, so I put him at the bottom of the King's starting five.

They basically ran a slower tempo of what the Warriors currently run. Kings only weakness and it was a small one but they didn't have a SG who could get his own bucket when needed. That's what separated the the Spurs from the Kings during this period in the NBA. Spurs had a young Ginobli who could get his own shot or create and at the very least draw a foul. Kings had Christie( a defender) Stojakovic(sharp shooter) neither could get their own shot which put tremendous pressure on Bibby to carry the scoring load in last 2 minutes, same personnel bug derailed the Clippers the past few years.

Blackwatch honestly kings would have beat Lakers had their shooters been more reliable. Every1 in kings can pass well but not everyone can shoot. Even their greatest shooter, arguably peja can disappear and is just a spot up shooter. Bibby maybe the second best shooter is a mid ranger . There were many well passed shot that were missed. Gsw plays similarly where they split the d and everyone plays hot potato and use the extra pass without playing iso Ball but gsw can hit buckets

The biggest to learn from this team is that having the best process doesn't always give you the best results

The most important things in basketall : conditioning,communation and effort on defense,passing on offense. If you have these 3 things covered then you are winning games.

This WCF was the most rigged series in NBA history (especially game 6) David Stern was not about to let there be a Kings V Nets NBA Finals
@olivierkepo8 жыл бұрын
my only problem with that argument is that either series was being won in 4 by both Kings and Lakers. The NBA don't make the money off of ratings. Its all about selling ads. If they wanted a longer NBA finals (therefore making more money off of tv deals) then surely they would have rigged this series for the Kings ? The Nets had no chance of getting a game off of Shaq and Kobe. They had a better chance of stealing a game off of the Kings (although I don't think they would have)

Mark Keppel hell nah its not necessarily about length. they want VIEWERS. NO ONE would watch Kings v Nets finals, except local fan bases and obviously some basketball fans. Nets were based in New Jersey back then, a small market, and Kings in Sacramento was a tiny market. They NEEDED LA to make the finals, otherwise they would have no viewers. No one really know the people on Sacramento (Bibby, C Webber, Stojakovic, Hedo, Vlade etc…). Everyone knew about Shaq and Kobe who had already won two straight championships, and could three peat, they were tryna be like Jordans Bulls of the 2000s. NBA would do ANYTHING for Kobe and Shaq to get a chance to three peat. More intriguing, more money, more viewers. LA was basically the biggest basketball market back then, since the Knicks were trash.

again, my problem with this is that viewership doesn't affect the amount of money you make that year. It will affect next year's price no doubt when it comes to making the deals for the TV rights and ads, but for the 02 Finals more viewers doesn't mean more cash. All the ads are sold ahead of time so the NBA was gonna make the same amount of money either way. The only way they could have made more money is by having a game 5, 6 etc which aren't guaranteed beforehand. Those games are basically printing money for the NBA, so if they were gonna rig the series, the would have done so for the Kings seen as the Nets had a better chance of stealing a game from them. Finally, while I agree that game 6 was rigged, game 7 wasn't rigged at all. The refs lets the players decide the game and the Kings blew it at home.

Mark Keppel game 7 was fair but thats not really the point game 6 was so rigged, that NBA had to make sure game 7 was fair because everyone saw how badly game 6 was officiated, and they didnt want to lose any credibility. conspiracy theorists everywhere claiming the NBA was rigged, Stern was prolly freaking out lmao and made sure the refs were fair. also, game 6 was a closeout game. The kings had that game, that was the game they needed to go the finals. but when you get your heart ripped from you by the refs like that, its hard to overcome that. they had to play more timid.
