I'm hoping this past season was a one-off. There was no confidence in the D coach or new system. There was no confidence in JoJo when Vasy was out. No confidence in the defense when Sergei was out. The guys need consistency with each other and hopefully now have more confidence in themselves as well as each other

As a rookie, I liked left guard Lilleberg. Mistakes are there, but with the right environment and coaching can grow into a decent defender. Didn't like Raddysh at all.

I think theres a few things at play here for Tampa, the first being that they've played a ton of hockey over the last 4-5 years and its hard to ask athletes taking that physical punishment to play into June year after year it wears you down, the next thing is obviously the cap and Tampa fans are seeing how success leads to tough decisions in terms of money, if they can figure out Stamkos and Duclair and add some bottom 6 forwards that can come in and maybe play above their contract the Lightning will be fine this year and in contention again

well said. although you might be making too much sense for casuals. the main assets are still good. like you said, if they can add pieces and get some good value contracts, they have a chance to compete for a deep p-off run.

@@carparthero I just think when a fan base is used to so much success (2 cups and 4 finals appearances in the last 10 years) that when things start to not go your way they overreact it happens with every fan base, the core the Lightning have in tact is still good enough for another run or two i think Stamkos is gonna have to take a team friendly deal which i believe he will I don't see him leaving Tampa

The only thing I see is that the last two years every game they come out flat in the first period and fall behind or they come out get the lead and take the second period off and try to turn it on in the last 10mins of the game. Got to play a full 60 mins. That’s my opinion.

We really need retool. Whatever players we bring in should be young enough to stay with us for about four years need to be big fast and physical, especially if we get rid of those four players not just plug and play for the year.

When Stamkos signed his first major deal, Yzermann , realizing that this was an idea team in an ideal location with no state income tax, offer Stamkos 8 million which was probably comparable to 10 to11 million in a town like LA , San Francisco or anywhere Canada where they seem to highly tax their professional athletes. Stamkos took the deal Knowing this and witnessing it first hand, BriseBois for some reason give Sergachev 8 million for 8 years instead of stepping it up like 4 mil, 5 mil, 6 mil 7 mil each year ?? That is confusing to me. Sergachev would probably have taken that realizing they team needs the money to replenish it with quality players. BriesBois really needs money this next year and the following year. He is out of cap money and trade capital and draft pick capital and the team being as successful as it has been will never get a top 5 draft pick even if they had one to use. I believe they have given them all away and only have a handful of leftover picks thanks to the over spending for Jeannot. There is no hope for a elite type player like a Connor Bedard type player you can use to build a winning team. anymore and left overs is what BriesBois has to work with. It is like being the last person in the buffet line. I wish him good luck and hope for the best.

I'm a Tampa fan, but listening to this idle chatter is impossible. Why don't you suggest names for the roster?. No specifics on UFA, RFA players that could be brought to Tampa. Water. Water.

Well if you listened to the whole episode you would’ve heard the point be made that Stamkos and Duclair are first priority targets and anything else afterwards can be filled in. Those won’t happen until a few deals are made to free up some cap space

You're so obsessed We need depth in the lineup. Now! How are you going to do that? That's where we should be discussing the team, not whether we need Stamkos Now or whether we could do it differently Now. If that's the case, what players could we use now? Will Stamkos, Duclair give us depth? If not, who will? That's for you to discuss! Names...discussion of those names. That's something I don't hear on the blog. I'm a Tampa fan from Russia

It's a franchise altering loss if he leaves and the whole complexion of the franchise changes so all that other stuff you're whining about is irrelevant right now because the biggest question mark from now until July 1st for the Lightning is will Steven Stamkos still be the face of the franchise
