How The Mandalorian Lost its Way

The Mandalorian Season 3 was not the audience pleaser seasons 1 and 2 were. Why is this? Well, it basically threw away everything that made it work.

It's hilarious comparing how many survivors there are on Nevaro with how many people show up to Maarva's funeral on Ferrix. One looks like and feels like a real town full of people. The other one feels like a handful of extras in the volume.

I just cannot get over the helmet thing. They could have made it work. "You don't take your helmet off around outsiders." That simple. It would have made the Din and Grogu's parting more significant. "Oh my god, Din only takes his helmet off around family. Oh my god, Din considers Grogu family!" Do parents even know what their children look like or vice versa? It's insane!

I'm getting the feeling that there were a lot of things they didn't think the whole way through. I've read fanfics that switched the rule around to make it the way you described and it makes so much more sense. If they actually explained the mythology behind the constant wearing of the helmet I might have a different opinion but no, they wear it ... just because. Many relgions in the world do thigns that seem crazy out of context but there is always a history behind rituals and practices. I don't think the writers have one.

I watched the the first episode of season 3 but after that I immediately lost interest so I just didn't care to finish it so I don't what happened after the first episode .

I'm happy to believe that the story ends at the end of season 3. The Mandalorian doesn't matter anymore, it's just a springboard for whatever universe they want to launch.

​​​@@whyitdoesntworkforme9206 I understand what you mean I try my best to lower my expectations whether it's an adaptation or a continuation of something I love, it's sometimes difficult especially if the creator's blatantly disregard or drastically change stuff not to improve the original story but to serve their own needs, but it's something that I need to learn to get over. And after watching a lot of your videos I know you have similar sentiments.

Big up sister, I'm still at work so I'll watch on the way home, I liked it though for engagement. I've always enjoyed the channel and the content though I never commented(sorry). I subbed way back in the video where you went after Aquamans mother and how she treated Orm in the animated New 52 Film. No one criticized that character but you did ad ever since then I've binged all that I can watch on the channel even stuff I'm not a fan of just to hear your opinion. I hope the channel reaches the heights you intend for it, keep it up.(PS Aquamans mother still sucks:))

Happy to have your comment. So glad to hear that someone else dislikes Aquaman's mum as much as I do. People really lean into the whole forbidden love, she just wants to be with the man she loves. Aw dear. What people are failing to see is that she is a freaking queen. Not being able to marry a person of her choosing is the least of the sacrifices she should be making. Her running away could have literally cost lives. It could have started an international incident at least and a war at most and we are just supposed to say, 'poor wee queenie, she doesn't get to marry for love.' Then she just decides that the son of the man she actually wants is the best choice for king because ... she loved his dad. Yeah, people always say Aquaman sucks and I've always agreed but I've always had different reasons. These are it, Atlanta is a selfish child and a terrible mother and Arthur shouldn't have even been on the short list for king. So glad your enjoying my videos. I'll be back to comic stuff now that Star Wars has kinda lost me :)

@@whyitdoesntworkforme9206 Let me explain, In both cases we saw a loneranger taking care of an unrelated Baby, but in Elle's Case we saw her growing up, learning to talk, walk & it feels earned, Grogu's abilities in contrast amke him an empty shallow since he doesn't grow up & therfore is just a doll to sell toys, The show could work if they focused on how mando ages while grogu doesn't but at this point is pretty obvious they WON'T

Honestly season 3 just exposed the fact that there were never really concrete ideas in place for what The Way actually meant to the helmet-mandalorians in the Covert. They hinted that there was more, but kept it vague. They only rarely became concrete. I call them helmet-mandalorians because that seems to be one of their only defining tenets. Which they seem to take overly seriously to the point of absurdity. I expected we would learn at some point their founding mythology, the deeper principles of this cult, new aspects and rituals to give it all context and meaning. For example, why isn't there an established ritual for two cult members to take off their helmets in front of each other in private, so that they can experience human intimacy? Failing that we are left to assume they even wear their helmets during sex? But no. There was never any substance or meaning behind any of this, and The Way now seems mostly like a convenient plot device that served to set Mando on his quest to reunite Grogu with his people. That quest is done now and we are left with nothing

@@MercerCreate I mean the bigwigs making the decisions. Andor was given less prominence, less importance and therefore less oversight. So the artists were just able to do what they wanted. It was the same reason the Mandalorian was a sleeper hit. It starred a new character, in a era unknown, with a new story. Now that Mando is a face of Star Wars, there is meddling. They care more so the quality is less
