@@primitive_froot2527 It’s puzzling how a coach who saw the value of high powered receivers such as moss and welker could downplay the position value. Give Mac jeudy or waddle on that team. They’d be better. I don’t think it’d matter tbh. Bills and phins seem destined to battle this time for the east.

The 12th pick wasn't our original pick. We traded down from 1.3 to 1.12 and then back up to 1.6. However none of those were our original pick. With our original pick we took Jaelan Phillips at 1.18. The 1.3 was via Houston which we got as part of the Tunsil trade.

Dolphins fan here and there’s two parts I disagree with: 1) The idea that there was this 50/50 split on the Dolphins choosing Tua or Herbert. The media and fans alike were basically all on Tua. 90% of people were for Tua over Herbert. 2) The idea that Tua starting his rookie year was a good thing. He was still recovering from an injury and IMO, that season would have been better spent with him learning from Fitz on the bench.
@JGFR19
@JGFR19 11 ай бұрын
Exactly. People speak well of Herbert now, that he has demonstrated quality in the professionals. But when he was at Oregon, scouts didn't give him good analysis. It's like I usually say, now it's easy. And don't forget that in 2020 the pre-season practically didn't exist due to covid-19. 2021 was Mr. Tagovailoa's first truly full season. And there's another important factor: Brian Flores almost ends the young QB's career. Thank God this gentleman was fired.
@damedan9389
@damedan9389 11 ай бұрын
1. Him saying it was 50/50 was in terms of the two players availability, not how many people or who wanted to draft him. 2. What would Tua learn from Fitzpatrick in terms of PLAYING THE GAME? Fitzpatrick's play style would get Tua killed. The playbook wasn't even used his second season. The ONLY reason he should have sat out his rookie season would've been to rehab his hip. For the record, the two times Tua was pulled and Fitzpatrick was put in, Fitz is 1 - 1: the first game Fitzpatrick didn't have better results than Tua AND threw a GAME LOSING pick in the endzone. . . The same pass and route he threw interceptions in the previous three loses. He didn't do much better in the Raiders game either; people are over hyping that ONE PASS. It was Miles Gaskin that won the game for Miami; he had a TD from both QBs and the one from Ryan, was an 8 yard dump off that Miles ran through the entire defense then went 56 yards for a TD.
@synstro6198
@synstro6198 11 ай бұрын
@@damedan9389 I think he should have sat not to learn from Fitz but to fully heal. A large part of his weak arm narrative comes from the severely under powered throws he made before he fully recovered his power in his hips. People still think he has Chad Pennington arm strength even though he is back to league an average nfl arm.

I agree with this.. also I’m a chargers fan and I didn’t like the Herbert pick.. I was actually hoping wed draft Tua instead.. of course herbert ended up being an amazing pick but we’ve had the most incompetent coaching staff in the nfl completely mismanaging a top 5 roster lol.. but yea my point is everyone was hyped on Tua even so much so that us chargers fans wanted him over Herbert too.. I also agree you guys should’ve sat him for a year.. give him time to recover and develop..

As a Pats fan who watches a lot of the AFC East, you see over the years how these high draft picks add up. The Pats were at or near the bottom of the draft for pretty much 2 decades, and in the last 13 years haven't drafted a great offensive player. But the Dolphins, Jets, and Bills have been near the top of the draft that whole time and have been slowly building up teams full of great 1st round picks. Jets never found their QB, they've had plenty of chances but they used them on Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson. And the Pats are sitting here with a team full of average players today. To do a rebuild you really need several bad years, so you can stock up on high draft picks
@kenrichards4838
@kenrichards4838 11 ай бұрын
Seems true. Though Mac could still become great adding a couple good offensive weapons to combine with an already championship defense. Idk. Bills are tapped. Jets are…well. The jets. Anything can happen. I’m honestly waiting for other foot to fall as phins fan. We were 3-0 last year and we know how that ended. Good luck. Wish all opposing fans were decent. Good luck this year and future.

It just wasn't the Dolphins being bad (they were) but a great trade of Tunsil to Houston is what set Miami up with the draft capital. It also helped a lot the 1st round picks Miami was able to get through trades of other teams who also did bad helped a lot 😁😇

@@klan6769 King Tunsil may have saved Griers job imo after the Tannehill experiment failed and Flores’s attempt to corrupt Tuas career. Of all the talent we’ve had in the past with no titles or significant playoff success I gotta think Mike McDaniel was the greatest pickup possibly. Praying for good health on every team. I want the truth even if we ain’t it.

@brandonunderwood7668
@brandonunderwood7668 11 ай бұрын
Not true, although it helps, what is important is getting lean on your personnel so that there’s no large unnecessary contacts. Need to get value picks which can happen anywhere on the draft board. Excuses on being bad is just that. There were players on the board that NE could have drafted each year that were better than they have. Also developing players is important too. Nfl teams are pretty bad at developing players generally but developing players is important not just to get great star players their breakout season but to get capable backups. Then you can trade the capable back ups to move up the draft board if needed. It’s all about getting each level of the team straight. It’s not easy, but it’s not impossible. NE keeps signing lame ass big names that don’t give you any value for what you paid. Like Juju smith, like Elliott, and a few others. Those players aren’t even liked because they’re annoying so it even hurts your image as a team. Basically you guys paid premium prices for discount items. Mac Jones is okay but isn’t gonna be the answer. Also the patriots need a better OC, the patriots always have had their offense hindered by their OCs. Even when they were good with Tom Brady, that was Tom making a middling offensive scheme look good. So yea, NE could have been more competitive but the people in charge of personnel are kind of screwing you guys. Also the OC isn’t great, your defense will always be pretty good.

Their defense has to improve if they plan on being contenders for the playoffs. Fangio is more of a one on one guy with the only pressure coming from 4 rushers which gives teams with good protection a long time to throw the ball which in turn lets the receivers get open. I have seen this in all the games this season. Dolphins are bending but not breaking, except when they played Buffalo. We'll see what happens against the Eagles this weekend.

He was not clicking with the franchise QB they spent an ever so valuable top 5 pick on. Why WOULDN'T the Dolphins want to go with an offensive minded coach? Most fragile QB room😂Niners are the only team who’s defense gets bad when they’reQB gets injured apparently.

You should’ve mentioned, Miami passed up I’m breaking the NFL 70 point record by choosing not to go for a field gold and they easily could have.

If they stay healthy, I think they go all the way, but then lose to the 49ers. #1 offense vs. #1 defense, #1 defense wins. Deebo Samuel gets Super Bowl MVP.

Never get too high or too low. Such is sports. Every NFL team is one snap away from a big injury and a fall from the top. The week prior to Washington's 72 point game in 1966, they had scored only 3 points against Cleveland. That year, the Redskins finished 7-7.
