This is fantastic! The reason it wouldn't work for this new show is because this intro is all about MacGyver, not 'Team MacGyver' (which is what I think this show should have been called). Had I never seen the original, I would think this show is fine, but having watched every single episode of the original numerous times over the last 30 years I'm disappointed in how Mac gets lost among all the other characters in this show, and when he does get some screen time he comes across (in my opinion) as fairly two-dimensional.

Yes, guys we all want the intro to be like this because we're nostalgic! I'm a child of the seventies myself so i watched MacGyver in the eighties and part of the fun of the show was the damn cool intro! When you heard this catchy tune accompanied by MacGyver's accomplishments and then that awesome climax with the bombtimer ticking down and the name MacGyver exploding on the screen, hey, guys, movie magic! It still impresses me to this day and i'm 42 years old so i say FUCK YEAH, to this intro! FUCKING AWESOME!

Jack needs a disguise for a costume party (secret mission). Wilt suggests a fake mustache & pilot's cap. [The camera angle switches to a behind the back shot] Jack says, "I look ridiculous." Mac retorts, "Yeah but can I guarantee that nobody will recognize you." Wilt tilts his head and says, "Something's missing...I got just the thing!" Jack slides on the jacket while he approaches the full length mirror. We see now him in all his classic 80's glory. Jack frowns and replies, "I look like my dad." [cue the music]

Yes! The show seems cool, if you never seen the old Mac. But Pete is now Patricia, so that friendship that they had isn't there, Jack Dalton uses a gun, and expects MacGyver to use a gun. Pretty much, I think that CBS should've made him like a grandson, or nephew of RDA's MacGyver. Thankfully I haven't seen him use a cell phone.

As much as you would like to try to make the CBS MacGyver a continuation of the original ABC series, it is impossible simply due to the character of Jack Dalton in it. This is the same Jack from the original when he was younger and not a troublemaker yet. If the CBS show actually continues for one or more seasons, we may see Jack quit or get fired from the Phoenix Foundation and become the sketchy character we knew on ABC. On CBS we see Mac and Jack are cool with other... on ABC their relationship was on and off - and he always lead Mac involuntarily into trouble.

Yeah, I had the thought that RDA could be Angus's grandfather Harry Jackson. I think he'd have fun with the role (with his real life quirky sense of humour), plus in the original Mac learned a lot from his grandfather, like passing down the torch (or Swis Army Knife). As for the 2016 version, I am honest getting into it now, like Lucas Till in the role. Waiting to see the first appearance of Murdoc (who now is probrably gonna be female). Scorned character in love with Mac but obsessed (over the top I know!)

I personally have to say that I appreciate the subtle music cue at the beginning of the new intro calling back to the original, but I must say that I would much prefer one closer to this. Maybe even take the old theme and update it using modern techniques for instrumentals. But all the same, well done! and so soon after the premier! Color me impressed.

The 2008 G3 Knight Rider intro sequence and music sold well, but the plot was a total train wreck with the new driver's origin story as being nothing more than the son of Michael Knight and Jennifer Traceur, a completely new team with unfamiliar faces other than KITT the Ford Mustang and devoid of G1-and-G2 season returnees like Bonnie or Erica, the difficult-to-replicate-in-toy-form multi-mode transformation effect, the shift of the series genre from crime series to more of a spy procedural in the style of Jennifer Garner's Alias and Keifer Sutherland's Jack Bauer, and KITT's evil twin brother KARR as the only definable villain for the entire run.

Some shows today don't even have a classic theme song intro, like Agents of Shield, largely I think, because the minute used for the theme song can then be used up by the episode itself. And with the high amount of commercials standard in a "1 hour" show; I can't say I blame them.

Generally speaking... YES. THIS is exciting to a kid that grew up with the old Mac! Maybe even with a SLIGHT modernization of the theme to not just repeat the 85 version... Else this is already as good as perfect. ONLY.. the new series is not just an RDA vehicle but has four pretty much equally featured "heroes"... so the sequence between the "lucas Till" screen and Producer Peter Lenikov should definitely show a few scenes with the other three Phoenix agents and give their names.

I see what they did there, but, as I said in multiple videos now: The original show had 48 minutes long episodes (as torrented), while new show has 42 minutes long episodes. It's a standard in modern days. They call it hour-long episodes but after you strip this "hour" of comercials, you're left with 40-42 minutes of actual watching material. So. Can you really make a minute long intro for a show that has -6 minutes per episode? Not really. You want shit to go down outside of the intro. You want to push the story forward. The show is less about nostalgia, I think they want it for next generation - for people who aren't familiar with the original show.

That would be a valid point, only that most people are dissatisfied not with the lack of resemblance of the video material to the old intro but about this weird "half copied / half new" intro music hybrid style... it wouldn't have hurt to do all of the 20-30 second intro that way... And "they want to push the story" sounds much less stupid when you don't usually waste 90-120 seconds on absolutely pointless "cold intros" that do not help the rest of the story a single bit. What is cool in James Bond movies seems a bit silly in a series that already has very little plot to its episodes (and they have also mostly cut the "invention / macgyvering" bits out of their scripts, so.... yeah ultimately a double length intro with proper music would not have been too disruptive to their precious story.
