Anthony Davis one of the best NBA Players and Centers in the 2010s. However, before all of that, he was the top player of the 2012 NBA Draft Class and considered to have All Time Potential coming out of Kentucky and was trusted with the keys almost immediately to be the savior of the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans. As we all know, he is currently enjoying his time in the LA Lights winning his first ever championship in his first year there and constantly competing for a championship every yea. But Anthony Davis was meant to be the Hero of New Orleans. However, for 7 Years of Anthony Davis potentially wasting his talent, only making the playoffs two times, watching his Front Office make little moves towards success until the 2nd half of his time there, and a lot, and I mean, A LOT of losing despite owning a All Time Talent. In this video I want to discuss all of the moves made during AD’s time in New Orleans and just see how the New Orleans Pelicans Failed Anthony Davis

@@Alvini_Linguine he never had what it took to be the best player on a contender. Lacked the leadership, drive, and availability to be a number one guy. LA as Bron's number 2 was his best case scenario. People say he couldn't win with Jrue as his number 2, but Giannis did that like one year later. Us being a small market and not able to attract superstar running mates will always be an issue, but there are key pieces we had that went on to be key players on other playoff teams. He just didn't elevate them and the media wanting him in a bigger market made it easy to scapegoat New Orleans and say they failed him, but honestly he underachieved. When Bron retires and he has to be the best player on that team the world will see that him as the best player on your team is a play in team. Ironically enough, even though it took a few years to get going, we're starting to see the Pelicans future is a lot brighter than the Lakers right now. Glad he got his ring tho.

@@JoelHolmes2397 As important as Jrue was to that bucks team he was NEVER the number two. Giannis won with Middleton as the clear number two. Also yes the pelicans have a better outlook on the future but the lakers got another championship through that deal which makes them the automatic winner of that deal unless the pelicans manage to somehow pull that off. Biggest problem I saw recurring was they had mula but lacked the desirability of a top franchise for free agents. They get a top tier free agent and I think that would’ve made AD stay; especially after the Portland series (can’t recall if that was the lackluster free agent class where GHayward was the best option or not off top) but hey he got out and won a 💍. That’s forever going to be the main problem for anyone who stars on a small market team. That’s what made what Giannis did so impressive. They were aggressive for so long and took risks that worked out. Jrue Holiday, Brook Lopez, and Bobby Portis. And then they swooped in and got Khris from Detroit. They really made that work! But you have to do that, either get a FA and hope he works out or have assets to trade for pieces.

What made it so crazy was that the Hornets/Pelicans, Lakers, and Rockets had a better proposed trade deal than the Clippers would give out to the Hornets/Pelicans for Chris Paul. They would have actually had a better roster for the future and a core around Anthony Davis to compete with if "basketball reasons" didn't happen.

Speaking of those "basketball reasons," that does raise a question: if the first Chris Paul trade is allowed to stand, the players that the Hornets/Pelicans would be getting (Lamar Odom, Goran Dragić, Kevin Martin, et al.) actually were decent enough to field a semi-competitive roster. But would they have been in the kind of position to be able to draft AD as a result?

@@Alvini_LinguineI wasn't coming at you neither. But this narrative about the Pelicans "failing" Anthony Davis is false. How is it "failing" a player by actively making multiple moves? Most of those guys including AD "stayed hurt"? Anderson was a (MIP/16 ppg), Gordon (whenever he played 22 ppg), Evans (ROY 15 ppg), Robin Lopez (good rotation player), Holiiday (All Star, eventual second best player on Bucks Championship team), Cousins (All Star and 25 ppg scorer), Rondo (champion Top 5 PG of his era), Randle (All Star) and (Mirotic). Most of them dudes missed lots of time as Hornets/Pelicans. Whatelse could the Pelicans do? Davis himself is injury prone. Also they ran into the Warriors twice in the playoffs after once sweeping the Blazers. The only season he stayed healthy was when the virus shut the world down for 4 months and in the Bubble. That was ONE TIME. I like your channel but this "failed" narrative is inaccurate and lacking nuance. Also when LeBron, Rich Paul and LA called AD was going to go like when Shaq to LA or GS to Durant. Both the Magic and Thunder gave those players good enough teammates to win but these players didn't get it done. It's not the organizations "failing them" they failed to take their team to championships. AD hasn't (for the most part) led the Lakers. Were there some mistakes made with the Pels?? Yes. But every organization makes mistakes. It's not like AD has been stacking ringz in LA neither.

@@CodeineAbdulJabbar Eric Gordon and Ryan left. They traded Tyreke twice. You have a top 10 player of the decade in your hands and you let players leave for nothing and not being aggressive with moves that can change something. I applaud the GM getting Boogie for change on the dollar despite his health issues and Mirotic right after because that’s what you’re supposed to do. But expecting Ryan, Eric, and Tyreke (who was used the wrong way his whole career btw) isn’t doing anything. Especially considering when two leave for nothing. They had pieces to trade for much more early and no one developed. So they made something happened later, but none of it was retained. Just like how Lebron was failed by Cleveland, AD was failed by New Orleans in the same way. Which is why both went away. Also calling him glassman when he played at the least 61 games is wild. Honestly speaking, him not leaving for nothing is what saved the team long term. At the time he was on a contract year the next season and could've just left and forced to team into a massive rebuild starting in the 2020 Draft. Unlike Lebron who left, AD allowed the Pels to use his value in exchange of what the Pels have now. Things could've been MUCH different in that circumstance. And I wouldn't say this new era has surpassed AD yet, for obvious reasons. But they sure can with many years of Zion and BI ahead.

For me to say the organisation failed him. Especially when I see what Giannis is doing and how great he is. It mil didn’t win one and Giannis left. I could lean toward them failing him. But AD when he was in NO never had the impact as a number 1 that giannis had. Hell AD as a number 1 never had the impact as a KG had. If I cannot convince y’all that New Orleans AD was a monster and a top 10 player of the decade then I have failed as a NBA creator. He was routinely a defensive and offensive juggernaut and dare I say he could win a chip as the best player. Even tho I didn’t go into detail he rose in both instances and tried his best personally. But in the West where over half of the conference could be a 50 win team he needed more help to jump into that next step. Giannis is fortunate to be out East. Because the 2010s Western conference was much scarier and harder to deal with. Giannis Bucks was also a lot more aggressive about getting him help. We only saw the real aggressive actions when Boogie was traded for and Mirotic after the injury. I don’t see where people get that AD can’t lead a team. Sure maybe not to a point of a Lebron James with the 06 Cavs. But ADs circumstances were much more brutal to deal with and that’s why they failed him. If he was in the East and he had the same teams this conversation would be much different.

That right there told me why he never won anything in NO. He’s just not that guy I would also argue that MIN Kevin love was just as good as NO davis at this point. But as you said if he was a top 10 player for his tenure in NO I think with the pieces that he had. He should have had that team in the playoffs more times that he did.
