American sports leagues have a monopoly on the certain sport so they can set it up like this. if a football league in europe tried to impose a salary cap then all the best players would leave for another country. Only way would be a universal fifa or uefa cap which obviously isnt happening

Yeah the difference is association football actually has multiple leagues that can offer competing competitive salaries to top players. There are the European top 5 leagues, (English, Spanish, Italian, German & French) That all have had top players playing in them. Now add onto that u have Saudis blowing up offering insane salaries, china at some points as well that often dwarf the euro league salary offers. And even some American mls teams now can offer competitive salaries. Now go look at the average salary in the CFL or J1 league and compare it to NFL. for all intents and purposes the NFL has a monopoly on gridiron football.

In football there is "salary cap" called FFP but unfortunately UEFA only applies this whenever they have an interest on doing it... For example, while all the premier league and PSG are allowed to spend millions some other teams like Barcelona have struggled to use their money even if they have been at least top 3 most earning team for the last decade, just because the president of their league applies this FFP rules very rigorously (and to his convenience) while other leagues presidents pretend nothing happened when their teams spend humongous amounts of money

@@fabianvantilburg6154 if you start a team tomorrow you can enter any league in europe, ( theoretically, practically you can't cuz you will suck at football ) but you can enter if you want, and it happens all the time you can't do that in the US, they block you, only teams pre chosen no matter how bad they are can play every year, so how is it '' socialism league '' if it only helps a few chosen teams at the top and it stomps every smaller team, that you don't even know the name of because of this, i gues that is kinda like socialism if u think about it tho

Most people are watching multiple games at the same time. while one is on break for (injury, halftime, timeout,) people are watching other games that they care about, especially leading up to the playoffs where what happens to other teams will affect your team. But if you want to just watch one game it sucks.

Never been a fan of the salary cap. It makes the NFL way too cyclical. Teams suck for a decade, get lucky by drafting an elite QB with a top 5 pick, then they're good for a decade, then QB leaves or retires and they suck again, Rinse and repeat. At least in soccer there is consistency with the same teams usually being good. This is also why I prefer college football instead of the NFL.
