I believe, this is the most accurate translation of Brit and Zal's vision and their intentions. As a person who lives in Asia who practice non-duality and spirituality, I am often in awe of Brit and Zal's mind and the way they have perfected the contrast in this physical duality realm and turn it into a beautiful story. And thank you so much for translating it for us to understand and appreciate. I just watched the finale of A Murder at the End of the World, and I really missed the OA so I searched to see if there was anyone who have mentioned the connection between these two series and I am so glad to have found your video. Fantastic video! One interpretation of calling one’s self the OA is the realization they are seeing the dimension as if it were the first time. For the unintegrated version of themselves it’s all new, for the integrated version they are aware of the scenario on a meta level. So whenever the character says “I am the OA”, that is the integrated version realizing we are watching the unintegrated versions experience in that dimension. The viewer (unintegrated) however has no idea what that means and that ok because the audience isn’t supposed to know - but if any of this made sense, we are the OA or the “Original Audience“ so to speak. 😂 One example is when Old Night finds out the Nina in front of him is the OA Nina (unintegrated) and therefore kills her because Nina never had an NDA and that is necessary to both integration and the story as a whole. Thank you for sharing and all the work put into this video. I love how the dimensions play out in parallel, concurrent, circular, and linear fashion all at the same time. Take care and I hope your journey is kind and full of love. 🎻❤

I showed my girlfriend this show, and at first she was so aggressive about not wanting to continue until she started watching episode 3. She finally understood why I loved The OA. Here’s the only problem with the show- society can no longer digest suspense any longer than the timespan of a movie (2 hours of length at most). People do not want to use intellect to watch anything, they want it solved for them and shoved in their face, all while bitching and moaning about that. This would have been a great series, one that would always be discussed about, we as a society just no longer have the patience for it anymore sadly.

I read an article saying that Brit and Zal could have finished this in 3 seasons. Netflix offered them a movie but they declined and asked to finish it with 1 more season. Not sure if they just would have modified the story or what.
@deepcut7788 Жыл бұрын
Yes they were offered a six episode third seasons, or a 2 hour movie with the same budget. They declind because they need 5 seasons to tell their story (Though Zal once indicated that 4 would be enough, and i Theorize that 'season 5' would have taken place as a single episode at the end of season 4 if they didn't make it to season 5.
@jenjenagain3427 Жыл бұрын
@deepcut7788 - first I do enjoy your videos very much. This comes from a recent article in the Hollywood Reporter, link below. Zal Batmanglij: "The OA ending was unexpected to me, but they did try to get us to wrap it up with a movie and we said no. So I didn’t feel burnt because of that; I felt more puzzled. If you’re Netflix, why don’t you just finish it with more than just a wrap-up movie? Why don’t you finish it with a third season? It would force us to bring the three [remaining and planned] seasons into one and close it up, and then you could outsource it to Max or Hulu or wherever. You can do so much with it if it’s finished. This idea of all these unfinished homes littering their platform, I just don’t see the economics of it. It’s much better to have a finished thing and then license that thing and make money off that thing for the next 10-to-20 years." www-hollywoodreporter-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/murder-at-the-end-of-the-world-creators-oa-misfortune-fueled-their-next-series-1235676817/amp/?amp_gsa=1&_js_v=a9&usqp=mq331AQIUAKwASCAAgM%3D#amp_tf=From%20%251%24s&aoh=17032608789087&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&share=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.hollywoodreporter.com%2Ftv%2Ftv-features%2Fmurder-at-the-end-of-the-world-creators-oa-misfortune-fueled-their-next-series-1235676817%2F

I honestly just didn't have enough time to do the Saturn story justice, there are entire books on the subject and that is kind of the idea of the show is that it is designed for people who have studied it to see the symbols very simply and for those who haven't to either remain unaware, or to have an interest sparked to look deeper in and see just how deep it goes. She said they thought of the story like the pleats of an accordion and if there were 5 pleats or /\ in a circle you’d have a 5 pointed star. In a circle a pagan pentagram . There are 5 forces or natures in this model. I bet the 5 characters correspond to these. You are welcome …….,!!!!!
@dwightyokum37009 ай бұрын
Air, fire,water, earth, and spirit. Not sure it’s a perfect correlation with the boys and the teacher but the original 5 that were trapped it works pretty well. OA or prairie is spirit, Homer is earth strong and masculine, Cuban woman Renata? is water, sexual, fluid and open, druggie guy is fire, impulsive and emotional, in one scenario her family dies on a boat. and other woman Rachel? is air she doesn’t talk much in first season and is mute in second season. Sorry I’m bad with names but this model works, those are the 5 types associated with the pentagram.
@dwightyokum37009 ай бұрын
Britt/ prairie is the spirit rising transcending, Hap is the grounding and nullification of that transcendence, they are linked and are the fifth point of the pentagram which also includes Rachel air, Renata water, Homer earth, and other guy fire. This show helped me predict the big arcs in Rick and Morty. Spoilers: -I felt like the Rick we mainly followed wasn't from the reality we started in, and had been searching the multiverse for someone, before giving up and returning back to one version of his family. It's why he still comes back and puts up with Jerry. -I suspected it was either Diane, or the Rick who killed Diane, that he was searching for. -I knew someone would try to leave the larger Rock/Morty universes. I always thought of the "echoes" of this show, how they'd always be surrounded by the same people in every universe, and you'd have to somehow leave the echo before you'd be around different people. I suspected the Rick and Morty universes functioned similarly, and that someone would figure out how to get out of it. But i didn't know who that would be.😁

@EpicMusicAdmirer11 ай бұрын
So maybe as a result the actual season 4, being the darkest yet for The OA, is her admitting she has to be the one to let Hap live his evil life, mirroring season 2; if the Elias in S1 was Karim in S2, travellers perhaps don't need to share the same body, and OA becomes Elodie (representative of old Fola in the house???)

The writers claimed it was just one version of homer experiencing the dreams of another version of homer, it being based on a real dream Zal had. I imagine there is secretly more symbolism in this, and have previously theorized it alludes to a dimension 4 where homer forgets himself (Since he has the second and fourth movements carved in his skin in OAs story). it may not be what dimension 4 really looks like but could be symbolic of him being lost in a dimension where he is wandering trying to even remember her, just knowing someone is out there like her that he can't remember.

This show was so... FREAKING GOOD! Totally sucked that it was canceled. Would really love it if it were to somehow comeback, whether that would be on Netflix or somewhere else.

With Apple+ forging the way with great science fiction, it would be great if they could pick up the mantle of OA and finish the story. I'm sure an absolute no go with all the legalities behind it but also the time that has passed, aging and actors moving on, the loss of momentum. A genuinely sad missed opportunity for Netflix to withdraw their agreement of 5 seasons. Garbage, which Netflix is grotesquely replete with, keeps getting the green light where thoughtful, soulful, and truly original content gets hacked to pieces. This genuinely cut when Netflix cancelled it. Don't love any show on Netflix. The executives lack heart...and it shows.

Loved this show so much, wonder if you've watched "Sense 8"? thanks for such an awesome deep dive. your a wealth of knowledge, the amount of research that went into making this video is astounding
@deepcut77887 ай бұрын
Right now I’m watching it again to see if there’s some sort of video I could make about that down the road, but my primary focus is a series of mythology and Bible videos getting into subjects like in this video. So far we have about 14 videos 20+ minutes long written and we’re starting editing this week.

HAP recognised The OA in 4 notes, 3 having gotten off the train (the first unheard on the carriage with earphones in), thus a connection between Hap and Nina's father?????????
@tammybenaytv463111 ай бұрын
Yes, he asked her is she playing Russian song? Her vision lead her to NYC. And then she meets HAP. There is definitely a connection there. Nina's father was a wealthy man who made his money mining precious metals. HAP takes her to a mine (supposedly). Nothing we are told from Nina's/Prarie"s point of view we can believe to be true. We have no idea what happen in those 7 years she was gone.

Sorry, I didn´t watch all of your videos, but what about Homer's dream in season 2, where he is in a medieval like place, with long beard, looking for The OA? Where does it fit into this explanation? Thnks!
@deepcut77888 ай бұрын
According to the writer Zal, that was just One homer having the dream of another Homer sharing his body, and meant to be confusing. I used to think it was a vision of a future dimension, but that does not seem to be the case. it likely would more simulate dimension 4 if nothing else though.

There’s a scene in AMATEOTW where Zoomer (which sounds similar to Homer) has a toy ambulance that crashes. This seemed too coincidental not to be a nod to the ambulance imagery in the OA. Anyone else catch this?
@deepcut778811 ай бұрын
I had seen this but but it’s one of many I don’t include in the video.
@SarahDrInTheHouse11 ай бұрын
Forgot to ask: do you think Agt. Elias Rahim (introduced in S1 and who helped the Crestwood 5 at the hotel in S2) was the brother figure? Rahim sounds similar to Karim a bit. Any correlation there?
@deepcut778811 ай бұрын
I’ve ‘heard’ that Karin’s role in season two was meant for Rahim but that he had a big part elsewhere so could only return for a small piece of season one. However I think they wrote other implications into that transition as well as that would mean Karim only appears for three seasons, three degrees in male masonry while OA goes through all five. So it seemed purposeful to me to some degree and they even said when season two aired that it was meant to be like a book where important characters aren’t introduced til like book two. So I’m not 100% sure they were meant to be the same despite what I heard.

1:19:42 one last thing! This OA does not have scars from the movements on her back! Proof to me that this is Dimension4 or D5 OA not DI.
@SarahDrInTheHouse11 ай бұрын
Britt and Zal are too meticulous for this to be an oversight. In my opinion, at least.
@deepcut778811 ай бұрын
a lot of people disagree, its blurry but if you zoom in you can see what looks like her scars on her back, but its too blurry to say yes or not to imho, but there is definitely more stable 'texture' on her shoulder area where the scars are compared to the moving distortion of the film elsewhere.
@zeralf8 ай бұрын
she does have the scars if you look closely

I really appreciate this video, and I can buy in to a lot of it. But I have a hard time believing that OA is supposed to have largely made up her 7 years underground with the Haptives. In particular, why would the other Haptives in Season/Dimension 2 share OA’s memories about what happened in Hap’s basement? Scott definitely does, Renata apparently does but denies it most of the season, Homer finally remembers at the end of season 2. What are we to make of that if it was all supposedly a delusion in OA’s mind?
@deepcut778811 ай бұрын
The whole idea is that they are just as real as she is. OA is just a character in Brit Marlings mind. But she and Steve and others jumped into Brit Marlings Dimension into the bodies of people who inspired their characters. Thus the Haptives jump out of OAs mind and into the bodies of people who inspire them in season two. They would share her memories of being trapped in a bunker. Even the Evil Hap is the version of him from inside her head.

The cancellation of this show was almost painful when it happened. I felt like I had finally found a storytelling that was somehow narrating and providing food for though for the answers I had been seeking or the questions I was posing. Nevertheless, I felt this show had opened up the way I was thinking about lany things, it had already helped me a lot and paved my way for finding new answers and posing many more questions.

If someone could fund the startup cost, they could make a lot of money working with the producers and writers of cancelled shows to give fans conclusions. Even if it was in short animation or comic form, like Orphan Black did with the character background stories. Ive gathered a collection of unresolved stories that will bother me until i die
@enz444410 ай бұрын
I’ve binge watched all your OA content in two days and I’m both shocked and exhilarated that maybe just maybe this show can come back. And I think for a fact that you know this actually. Is this “cancellation” basically like how scott (3rd character) died and OA and Homer had faith in the process and danced for 11 months and revived scott which means that season 3 is going to be revived through the audience’s faith in the show? Do you think they are doing the same thing to us and sometime in the future out of blue we will get OA season 3? And that future is maybe 2026? 7 years after season 2? Pls pls pls enlighten me if this is a real thing because I think you know….
@deepcut778810 ай бұрын
I wouldn’t know myself. Some people have calculated the number of days OA said she was trapped and applied it to the day of cancellation to predict that if it does come back we’ll get news by the end of the month though.

No, some fans just speculated that if it were to return it would return in march based on the number of days passing being the same that OA spent in the bunker.
