Is this purely for simulating games at a time? How does playing in pitch by pitch mode vs one pitch mode affect this if you are manually simming games? For example, if the opposing starter has low control I’ll normally take the first two pitches most of the time to try and force more walks. Can this actually change the outcome or is it just adding to the pitch count of an outcome that was already determined

It does change the outcome... to my knowledge. But pitch by pitch makes things weird so I can't say with confidence or certainty of any kind. It definitely adds some kind of modifier.

If stealing is purely steal vs arm, advancing is base running vs arm, and “defensive speed” is calculated by range, does that mean the speed rating is useless?
@sgtmushroom3 жыл бұрын
More recent research actually suggests that hold runners is more responsible for defensive SB% and catcher arm is more responsible for SB attempts. But essentially, speed goes against catcher arm to determine whether a steal is actually attempted when the runner wants to go.

@@sgtmushroom I'm confused? so when does speed, stealing, catcher arm, and hold runner apply respectively?

Are you sure movement doesn’t impact double and triple rate?

Not sure. But that's currently the impression I have.

Guessing youve already reached out to OOTP to either get a confirmation and they declined or even just asked for it directly and they dont want to share.
@sgtmushroom3 жыл бұрын
There is no question that they will not share or confirm anything about how the game works. They want to leave as much up to you to find out as possible.

Using your theory what would the ideal MLB Roster look like?
@sgtmushroom3 жыл бұрын
My projection system takes it into account, so it would be something like this- C - Realmuto 1B - Jose Ramirez 2B - Fernando Tatis Jr. 3B - Matt Chapman/Nolan Arenado SS - Francisco Lindor LF - Mike Trout CF - Cody Bellinger RF - Mookie Betts/Ronald Acuna Jr. DH - Juan Soto My 2 favourite starting pitchers are Shane Bieber and Walker Buehler (in that order), but it's kind of tough to decide behind the top 2.

@Jeff Talbot I honestly think it could. I'd have to do more research but it's possible.

From what I've seen, I suggest the order of operations would be HBP > BB > HR > SO > BIP/BABIP > Is it an EBH? > If yes, is it a 3B? HR & SO *could* be reversed but conceptually since FIP is so important to the engine, and considering that HR/AB was available when the last major revision of the engine was made, I lean toward HR's being determined second.

I don't know what you have your conclusion based on, but my data STRONGLY supports BB>(K/HR)>2B/3B>1B, where strikeouts and home runs happen at the same time, and extra base hits are determined before singles.
