Advanced stats are VERY favourable for the top guys on Nashville turning it around. Stamkos and Co. have been controlling play and getting great chances. Things will turn around even if they keep playing in a similar way. If they play better than they have(which I assume they will as they have a lot of new faces) they could easily still be a top team in the league by year end.

The players that they signed are not the reason why they are 0-5. It’s every player that is not putting enough effort. There defense has been bad. The offense is underperforming and missing great opportunities to shoot and they can’t have those timely saves. The whole team is to be blamed smartass. Hockey is a team sport not an individual sport.

My main concern (well, concern probably isn’t the right word) was the sheer amount of new faces they brought in. Nashville were two very different teams last season: the Predators who didn't get to go to the U2 concert and the Predators looking forward to the U2 concert. They won last night, but it could be that the only way to completely turn things around is to buy the team Oasis reunion tickets for a team activity so they can cancel that too. They added a few high profile UFAs in the offseason, to address scoring, but sometimes bringing in a bunch of loud veteran voices into an established dressing room doesn't work out as well as people would think and it takes a while for everyone to get used to everyone else.
@aaronmoots15692 күн бұрын
What I will say to be nice to the preds is that if they get things figured out, right the ship, and make playoffs, they’ve got a dangerous toolset for any team to have to face in a series.
@infinity-vm4ul2 күн бұрын
I had a feeling this team was gonna be slow out of the gate just because of all the lineup changes and building chemistry can take time, but I was thinking more like nhl 500 after 10 games, not 0-5. Although I guess nhl 500 is still technically possible.

I was not really on board the hype train for Nashville, so I'm honestly not terribly surprised by this start. As a Jets fan, I'm also kinda jazzed because I know there were a lot of people saying that Nashville would take Winnipeg's spot in the playoffs this year. Not looking like that right now. I know it's still early, but this is a very hard hole to dig out of.

Plus/minus is kind of a wash, but I think its pretty indicitave for defenseman level of play. Your top line will likely play against the opponent's top line, so plus/minus is a seesaw. For defenseman, they play more minutes, and the top two pairs will play more minutes against top forward lines, I think it tells more about whats going on for defenseman than forwards

Remind me how dead in the water Edmonton was this time last year and for an uncomfortable time afterward until serious changes behind the players were made? Today is the 22nd. A month from now, Nashville’s poor start will be an unflattering memory, and someone like the Sharks will still be searching for their 5th win (which came 11/27 last year.) Here’s a hot one, even this early: Columbus has more points than the Flyers, led by Michkov and his minus-6 rating.

It's almost a bit sad that it is almost always the right call to move on from a veteran, especially in the long term. Stamkos might salvage this season, but will he be worth his cap hit the next three seasons? Kind of like JT, not at all worth his contract and kind of "ruined" the Leafs (I'm glad they're not my team) in the latter half of his deal. Since there are quite a few players I like on the Preds I hope they turn this season around - but I don't think they will, they have to pass all the other teams to get into a playoff spot and they are in one of the better divisions.

Personally I felt they were on a phenomenal hot streak last second half rather than they were long term where they were, so I didn't buy the hype all that much. There's been concerns over Stamkos' 5 on 5 totals over the past couple years in the analytics community as well but not nearly bad enough for his start this year. I think they're struggling to gel and build chemistry in the new lineup. I expect they course correct but whether they do it in time for a playoff spot is the big question. My guess would be they narrowly miss by the end of the season.

It is now June 2025. Utah is celebrating their first Stanley Cup victory after narrowly defeating the Buffalo Sabres in Game 7. Chemistry is messed up and egos must be put in place. This is the coaches issue to set fresh systems and refine roles. Realistically, they only have a true #2 center with O’Reilly at this point in career. Stammer if at center is also a #2 or 3. Stammer and Marsie are gifted older players but need special systems to get them going. This could take 30 games, but they need stronger centers.
