Perry is more likely than Benn to get in, like as in actually has a chance - I don't see Benn ever getting in.
I don’t like the bruins but I would be very surprised if Marchand doesn’t get in the hall

Would you make a video where you make the case for like the top five most controversial yes's and no's on this list based on comments or a poll please? My votes would include: Benn, Perry, Panarin, Point, and Letang. Honorable mention to Pastrnak.
@audibletapehiss37645 күн бұрын
I think what gets lost almost universally in these discussions, because you can't quantify it, is impact on the game of hockey. It's absolutely a thing. I'm not the biggest Marchand fan, but to me he's a no doubt HOFer. Everyone knows him, knows what he does, what he's done, he's a legend of the game. For chrissakes, they just put Roenick in there, and you can say it's bogus, and I do say it's bogus, but somebody has to actually make these decisions and it is not quite as stats-and-hardware based as people think when they're making the arguments. There is an X factor of recognition, reputation, and just flat out impact on the game of hockey. That's the reality of who gets in and who doesn't. The flip side of it is Marleau - guy beats Gordie's record, he should've been first ballot on that alone, but 2/3 of the continent didn't really notice his career.
@Niam_Human5 күн бұрын
are they really give Marleau trouble to get into HOF. Who's running that shipwreck?
@audibletapehiss37645 күн бұрын
@@Niam_Human Yeah, it was ridiculous. They passed on the all time games played leader in the history of the game, and put in the blowhard who once called out his commitment level. Can you imagine Jeremy Roenick calling out Patrick Marleau's commitment level? Jeremy Roenick, a guy who phoned in his last 5 years in the league. Just goes to show, it's the Hall of FAME, not the Hall of ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Jamie Benn is the only one I wouldn't put a definitely mark next to. He's had a great career and he's the type of player worth debating about, but I would hazard a guess that most fans, if they had a vote today, would err on "no"

As a Bruins fan, I agree that Marchand is a borderline candidate for the Hall of Fame. I find it ironic how many fans of other teams, especially the Leafs, seem certain he will be inducted.

Ovechkin being two years older than Sid, makes it unlikely they retire together. I don't think Ovechkin has the gas in the tank. Unless they throw him out there simply to stand at his spot on the powerplay ripping one timers.

Is there any talk about expanding the number of players who can be added annually? 3/yr was way too high in the 6-team era, but is borderline criminal with 32 teams. Based on your checkmarks alone, that means guys like Mogilny might never get in, which would be a farce.

If there was ever a "does Shannon have anti-Leafs bias?" moment it would probably be Jamie Benn being an automatic HoF candidate while John Tavares is probably out- especially when you compare their numbers. That said, Shannon is a Stars fan, and what he says is not objective reality (yet).

I think it is less an anti-leaf bias and being swayed by the controversy in his career. When you go from cornerstone of a team to just a piece of another team its not hard to see why you might question their actual value.

I still think Giroux ought to have won the Hart in 2018. The arguments for Hall- like him having a mediocre supporting cast around him yet making the playoffs- were actually stronger for Giroux. When Giroux was not on the ice that year, most metrics say the Flyers were worse than New Jersey when Hall was not on the ice. Plus, come on, a hat trick in the final game to clinch a playoff spot for his team? It wrote itself!
