To add to the points you've mentioned, I think the reason why PPOP idols are more free to express themselves and show more personality than their KPOP counterparts is that the landscape of the local audience here in the Philippines is different. In most East Asian countries like Korea, Japan, and China, the concept of being an idol goes beyond being an entertainer or a celebrity, they are almost deified and put on a pedestal to be admired, and that comes with certain expectations such as, but not limited to, not publicly dating, holding proper decorum in public events and spaces, being polite and well mannered on screen or in person, or to sum it all out, being perfect. KPOP fans expect their idols to be perfect and to keep up with the KPOP standards in terms of looks, behavior, and performance, and when these expectations are not met, a backlash is to be expected. Whereas here in the Philippines, we value nuances and strong characters, and we appreciate celebrIties when they show more personality and to an extent be unserious about things. I'm just glad we let our PPOP idols act like their young selves and not be so uptight about everything. ❤❤❤

Thanks for this input. ❤We're very glad that being nuanced and unserious is celebrated now in spaces like pop music. Especially with Filipino artists being at the forefront of this new era ❤

You hit every point. BINI actually shows that IDOLS are Humans. IDOLS are not meant to be design like a character in an Arcade Game. You can create them in whatever pleases you. They are not like a Vending Machine that you have to drop a coin in everytime to have access to them. BINI are very reachable. BINI actually do not have Fans, what they have are friends and families. They don’t consider their fans as fans but as one of their friends.

I'd like to think the Sexbomb Girls could have gone bigger than what they've achieved if they were considered true artists rather than a novelty act. There's a reason that there are still those fond of them until now. They are an authentic bunch as well, especially the OGs.

This is such a good point. I think aside from the very sexist and elitist factors during those times, being "real" like they were back then was frowned upon. Thanks for this input!

The culture of the PH is the complete opposite of Korea, that is why Bini seems so much more open and free in expressing their personalities in comparison with korean idols who must uphold a reserved image. Dont expect kpop idols to suddenly start acting like Bini or filipino artists in general, the culture just isn't the same. That would be like expecting Bini to be reserved like kpop idols, as you see even though being reserved and proper were the idol standard prior to Bini, they remained filipino in terms of their personalities even after making it big.

I like to think that PH artists are more closer to western artists not only on how much freedom they have in expressing themselves but also on how they have more creative input over their music and even classic and new OPM artists have worked that way. Because I heard about kpop companies buying music from producers in the US, getting choreographers, getting writers, hiring personality developers, hiring script writers, social media managers for each idol etc. And then you hear a group like SB19 who does all those things on their own and even Bini writing and composing some of their songs, creating the choreo, and even created the art pieces in some of their performances.
