Inspired by the Love of Jesus Christ
Verse of the Day (as related to the topic of this video):
"For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace."
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NLT)
A movie I highly recommend: The Gospel According to Matthew (starring a very animated and engaging acting performance by Bruce Marchiano, who plays Jesus). This is a word-for-word adaptation that has a unique take on the body language and charisma of Jesus, and also makes it easier to understand and quicker to read the story. I am hopeful that this movie gives you peace, love, hope, security, comfort, and answers, as it did me, and continues to do to this day. God bless you.

Life is like a road, there's a left lane and a right lane with a ditch on both sides. If you move too far to either side, you will crash. it's important to maintain balance no matter what direction you're heading in.

I think the main lesson here is that you are both an adult and a child. Your child self is you in your purest form, and as you stop needing your parents (other adults) to take care of you, you become an adult and need to take care of yourself. It is now your adult side's responsibility to make sure that both your inner child is listened to and that you are also responsible for the actions of your inner child. Like everything in life, a balance needs to exist, as an extreme of either side will lead to a negative outcome. You need to make sure that you are true to yourself, taking care of yourself, and validating yourself, but also need to realise that there are responsibilities, boundaries, and others to consider whenever we take any kind of action. Your adult self is basically a filter for your child self that needs to accommodate both making sure that we're living our lives to the fullest, but doing so in a non-destructive, responsible way.

2:13 oh. This is something that ive kind of put onto the core of my outlook on life. You cant act on impulse, it hurts people, it makes people not like you, it makes you a social outcast... Or at least thats what happened to me. See, I have autism, which means a lot of things, but in this instance it got me suspended from school *a lot* around 3rd/4th grade. I decided around middle school id put in a big effort into learning and maintaining self control, as that was my problem. Id "do what I feel like" and it would get me in trouble, so id keep having to change schools and never be able to get a social life. I had therapy which im sure did help a little, but the fact is it had to be *my* choice to start improving my behavior. So to hear it sort of said as a bad thing to have self control like that, feels very odd. 2:53 hmm, thats vindicating, its basically the same message of what I figured out for myself all those years ago. 4:35 thats the big thing, awareness is very important. Of your souroundings, of yourself. Just... watch, listen, take in information, and process it.

that topoic reminds me of a famous quote of a german author, Erich Kästner, saying "only the one who grows into an adult but stays a child is human". I think it just illustrates that we all have (or should have) both sides, the adult, mature and the childish one. But of course we need to learn which one is suited for different situations. Having learned to be responsible but stay able act childishly (and freer) when it's okay to do so (meaning it has no bad consequences for anyone)

I'm kind of sad because I was never allowed to be a carefree child that feels safe enough to express themselves. Me and my sister grew up in an abusive hell and I haven't experienced life without depressions since age 5. People don't understand why we are the way we are, something is missing that other people have, the believe that things will be ok in the end, the zest for life, the spontaneity, the confidence and ego that helps people push through and keep their heads high when I just give up. I've accepted that something other people developed in their happy childhoods is forever lost to me but this "inner child" thing reminded me.

I think there’s something important missing from this analysis. The self help guy explicitly addresses the fact that we become a “human do-ing” instead of a “human be-ing” when we DO things for other people all the time. He encourages selfish behavior by rewarding Bart’s outburst, and other immature behavior. The dr Phil character is almost indicting helping other people. And there’ nothing wrong with helping other people yes? Sure, sometimes you need to focus on yourself, but making sure you are being good to your friends and neighbors on a regular basis is so important. And helping others can often be incredibly fulfilling. I think the Simpson’s episode is pointing out the lack of nuance self-help can have. Instead of encouraging people to think deeply about whether or not they chose certain paths in life due to the influences of other people. E.g. did you become a doctor solely due to pressure from your parents? Or was that what you really wanted to do for a job for the rest of your life? Self help can break down into a simple “rule” to follow in all situations. “Make sure you are making your own big life decisions and make sure no one is forcing you to live a different life” turns into “just do whatever you feel like, don’t worry what other people think AT ALL” Do you see the difference? There is a lot of value in making sure yiu choose your own path in life. But, there is a thin line between choosing your own path, and just being selfish.

An old friend once told me, they had long lost what makes them themselves, just doing what's expected of them by others. I can now say, with almost sincerity, that I know what they meant back then... But losing my self along with my sanity in turn has made it clear that, if you want to keep you, well... You, have a better hold on your beliefs and practices in your life. Hold true to yourself like your life depends on it, or something can go very wrong, and you could lose yourself forever.

There are a lot of moment I look back and cringe realizing I really could have been better... and that's okay. It means I've grown up and decided to make better decisions. Now, I haven't really lost my inner child. I laugh at dumb puns and jokes, I get excited for action scenes, and I like watching random stuff sometimes. But that doesn't stop me from trying to be a responsible adult. I help out around the house when I can, I care about my family, and I'm gonna try and find a job sooner or later. At the end of the day, I'm just doing what I can as a person. There's really no quick bit of advice I can really give for a person on their own path of self-discovery and spirituality. All I can really say is... go at your own pace and do what you can. It's not gonna be easy. Nothing ever is after all. So when you're trying to find yourself just... live. That's about it really.

I actually have a friend who's in her early 50s, but has a mental age of maybe 13? She's also into the whole woo woo principle of the "law of attraction" to the point where she doesn't really think about the consequences of her actions thinking that things will be fine as long as she "thinks positively." I think that ever since she survived a car accident and was supposedly told that she survived due to NOT wearing a seat belt, it reinforced how she should "trust her intuition" over concrete evidence. Overall, she lacks humility, is pretty reckless, and seems to have a low regard for personal responsibilities.

Too me the idea of "releasing you inner child" has nothing to do with "acting like a child" and more to do with learning how to loose yourself in things that bring you joy, weather it's listening to music reading a book playing a video game or cooking your favourite meal if it brings you joy to do it then do it. "everybody needs a little place they can hide, don't let nobody inside. every now and then we all need to let go, for some it's a doctor, for me it's rock 'n roll for some it's a bottle, for some it's a pill, some people wave the bible cause it's giving them a thrill others point the finger because they don't like what they see. if you live in a glass house don't go throwing rocks at me". ~Cinderella (Shelter Me)

That's what makes us different from animals. We can look at our feelings and act differently. I may be mad, but I'll be gentle. I may be in pain, but I'll go on. I may be starving, but I'll wait a little more. Sometimes, doing something you feel like is refreshing. But it should be the exception, not the rule.

Yeah, like maybe when i"ll be turning 18 i would have to work and that's okay. I have to eat, but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna stop doing what i like. I would still have Time to writing songs or doing creative stuff in general coz i Love doing those things and i wanna be a musician. But i have to have a start first and things have a road. At the end being an adult it's not just work, its doing what you like but enjoying more cuz your brain knows how to appreciate more things and that. But you can play videogames all your Life and that's cool. You can do whatever you want, but there are rules and u have to survive too. But don't let that that consumed u, coz survive is one thing. Live is Another

But Homer was still in the wrong. The trampoline and having fun isn’t the problem. It’s the no boundaries part, that was the problem. There is a difference between being childish and being immature or naive

Many misinterpret freedom and self-expression with libertinage, violence, sexual obsession, nudity, curse words, lack of common sense and morals and other negative things that are actually harming them inside and out.

@3:53 How did you come to the conclusion that Bart 'yell[ed] out a rude remark for attention'? He's literally just walking away, ignoring everyone's reaction. He's not seeking attention. He just said what he intended to do and tried to do it. Marge grabbed him, pulled him back into the scenario and from that point he was given attention. Attention was not his goal. He didn't do anything for attention, least of all yell out a rude remark for attention.

this is a stupid phrase that I remember adults using all the time when I was a kid, and I never understood how they could be saying something so blatantly stupid. almost nobody does anything for attention, what happens is an overbearing authority figure comes in and forces attention onto somebody who's not conforming, and then asserts that they're 'doing it for attention'... no shitbag, I'm protesting this nonsense you're forcing onto others and then you forced me to stop protesting and declared that the protest wasn't legitimate and dismissed it as attention seeking. what the fuck?

To quote Theodore Kaczynski "SURROGATE ACTIVITIES": "When people do not have to exert themselves to satisfy their physical needs they often set up artificial goals for themselves." "We use the term “surrogate activity” to designate an activity that is directed toward an artificial goal that people set up for themselves merely in order to have some goal to work toward, or let us say, merely for the qake of the “fulfillment” that they get from pursuing the goal." Great video man, I really appreciate your uploads. Getting people to think about something other than all the distractions in life is a very positive goal. My take specifically on this upload is, I laughed at this episode when it came out and later realized that satire, by definition really, is simply laughing at shit that's not funny when it's happening around you. I'll quote the most prolific philosopher of our modern age, Homer Simpson, when he was watching TV saidh: "It's funny cuz It's not me" Now allow me to go just a "little" off topic, if you've read this far you won't mind going a little further..?

Thank you so very much for this. There are things here that someone I know needs to understand. I haven't been able to get through to him because he does whatever he wants in the moment for the instant quick fix. He will watch cartoons though. Hopefully the Universe will get this video to him before more people fall off his trampoline.

I have a challenge for you! Try to make a very deep, thoughtful and life changing video based of when Lisa sees a Rhino born from an egg and Homer challenges her by asking "What did you just see Lisa?"
