I never paid Vita attention as i moved to other things at the time, but it sounds like it had a very fun history of it's own. The vita still is one of my favorite consoles to this day. Despite how basically nobody I talk to knows what it is, and the library was pretty small comparatively speaking, it still has an amazing homebrew community and a few really solid titles. I really love the Vita and it is such an overpowered beast given when it got released. Sadly Sony was too cocky about it and ruined what could have been a great device with their stupid expensive memory cards. Downloadable games but no space to store those because people don't buy those cards...they really shot themselves in the foot there. Just look at the amazing library the PSP has and then the games the Vita has to offer...heck Ridge Racer 2 on the PSP is the BEST Ridge Racer and then look at the sh1t Ridge Racer on the Vita- the graphics are nice though.
@BillLambert3 жыл бұрын
Those memory cards are indeed nuts. I got into the Vita very late in its cycle, and not only were the memory cards hard to find, but the obscene prices never came down much, so a Vita 32gb card was still $100 while plain old MicroSD cards were below $20. But it wouldn't be Sony if they didn't "invent" some proprietary gimmick at 4x inflated prices. It made sense in the PS1 and PS2 years, because flash memory was not yet a mainstream product, but everything after that is pure narcissism on Sony's part.
@miru25833 жыл бұрын
nah. PSP has memory card too but they sell like mad. the vita died because of the mobile gaming in the rise. they know they couldnt compete with nintendo and android/ios in the long run so they pull out quick and bet every chip they have on the thing that is going well for them, the PS4.

It's not narcissism, it's pure greed on their part. They thought they'd make more money by using their own flash cards. Modded my Vita after watching your video on the PS Store potentially closing. It really was easy and SO worth it. Outside of Persona 4 Golden I haven't really touched it before I had CFW on it, but since then it's amazing what the little handheld can do, and I haven't even been able to put it down since.

I am so glad that I picked up a PSTV when it was discontinued. it is such a versatile and portable piece of kit once it has been hacked. I have also hacked my PS Vita but don't use it as much as PSTV.

This is probably just stupid, but I'm so glad you didn't use the "mistakes were made" line on this 🙌🏻

I haven't touched my vita in a year, I played it yesterday and today this video comes out. Weird coincidence.

Alot of people say the Vita is trash, and not worth buying, when they've never even owned one.

Great video man. Been a vita fan for many years. I actually hacked mine back in like 2019 because of your videos. Keep it up

I remember getting a vita on release day when I was 14, I then spent a whole year checking wololo's blog every day just to see if an exploit came out

I picked up a Model 2 Vita off of one of my friends that never used it, and it was one of the best decisions I made. My first PlayStation console was the PS5 and with all the good games on there, I wanted to experience some of the older games like GOW 1-2. MGS 1-3, Ratchet and Clank, etc and I was blown away by the library. Modding the console was also so easy and it’s made it so that I still play my Vita to this day with games like Arkham Origins Blackgate and P4G.

The Vita is a total homebrew beast, installing retroach and adrenaline, plus the psx games gives you nearly 2 decades of retro games in just one portable console.
