I would say that for the most part this vid is accurate and well versed. Barça has such a rich history and it’s very difficult to sum it up as well as this video does. I would have to point out 1 inaccuracy. On the topic of Franco having some good relation with Barça, I think it’s very crucial to point out that, at that point, FCB was CFB. In other words. The team pretty much belonged to Franco and the central government. That’s why you have the name change from Football Club Barcelona to Club de Futbol Barcelona. So that administration that got along with Franco was, actually, put there by Franco. At that moment in history it was symbolically dictated by Franco. It was no longer really Barça. All this, was done in efforts to simulate a “good intentions” propaganda. In reality these “good things” were an attempt to coerce the Catalan population into assimilating into Spanish culture. I enjoyed the vid! Thank you

Adrian, you have summarised very accurately the rivalry of both teams. The perception in Spain and Catalonia is that, RM is the team of the regime (the Spanish stablishment, or Spanish pride) and Barcelona is perceived as the Catalan National team. The political implications are still there: they wave Spanish flags during the matches at Bernabeu, and Catalan independence flags in Camp Nou, with chants of "In-de-pen-den-cia" at the minute 17:14 of each part.
@Kongorlobo3 жыл бұрын
"Spain and Catalonia", as if they were different places 🥴 Spain is a state, Catalonia is a region (nation, perhaps?) within that state. A different place to Catalonia would be Castile, where Madrid is located (in fact Real Madrid's second team is called Real Madrid Castilla). There are Catalans who think they are just Catalan and the rest of the country are just Spaniards, but lots of people in Catalonia and most people in the rest of Spain don't see it like that, I tell you. In fact, Spain must be one of the countries with the highest number of separatist or regionalist parties, it seems there's at least one in each fuckin' region 😂 You're right about Real Madrid being perceived as the team of the regime, or "el equipo del gobierno', though. Even lots of Atlético fans see it that way.

Lastly, you mention how Franco help FCB build the Camp Nou and how he was honored by FCB several times. Franco saved FCB economically. Then again, you fail to mention how Real Madrid didn't win a Liga title between 1933 and 1954 and how FCB won 9 Copas del Generalísimo and Real Madrid only 6. But you still say that Real Madrid was favored by Franco...

Franco's daughter said it in an interview and the delusional Barca fans can't stop with their nonsense. Franco even helped Barcelona to not go bankrupt. Franco used the rivalry for political gain and as a distraction from his failed policies. His daughter said he wasn't even much of a football fan. Barcelona fans are the worst.
@michaelbarquero60795 жыл бұрын
@@uncleiroh2319 the team is full of Catalans that are delusional and poor sportsmen, this even effects the players that didn't go up at the club. I tell Barca fans, if the referee is bought by Real Madrid why do you watch? I never get a real answer, they make the rivalry unbearable. There is literally no win by Real Madrid that didn't evolve some sort of corruption, not a referee making bad calls or mistakes, but corruption. When I ask about games that favor Barcelona, it becomes a monologue full of delusion, distortions, and distractions. When confronted with the phenomena of being called UEFALONA by the British fans, they try to say it's pushed by Real fans, so I point out that it started with Chelsea in 2009 and it soon will go to every grievance against Real Madrid. I even say, why would European football accommodate a fascist like Franco, his economy was terrible and his army couldn't do anything and they were going to appease him by fixing matches of a player that should have been in a Barcelona Jersey, what is it Franco fixed the matches or Real had the best player on the planet? It's endless and tiresome, they are worse than pathetic. Atletico fans are jerks but sports jerks nothing more, they cross the line but they aren't these types of mental cases.

@@uncleiroh2319 sorry to disagree, this isn't a both sides do it situation. Barcelona fans won't concede anything. No rivalry in sports has this level delusional mistrust. The most obnoxious fan in American sports is the Boston Red Sox fan, even they don't accuse the Yankees of never winning anything legitimately, Barcelona fans will have an issue with anything coming from Real Madrid even the cure for cancer and AIDS.

The fact people still use this as an excuse to be ass holes to one another is ridiculous. This happened over 60 years ago and people still hate each other over it. Let it go- the very spirit that Francisco Franco wanted to instill into people and this division is precisely what is still going on today and is very much keeping him satisfied in his grave... and the sad part is it's happening through a sport. If we compare Messi’s stats to Ronaldo at the same age, there is a noticeable disparity. People do not wanna acknowledge it now, but in another 5 years it will be a glaring truth. Appreciated, will maybe do a Part 2 in the future! I gotta say though, the "pronunciation" comments that people leave all over videos on KZbin have gotta be the weakest/most annoying things out there. If someone is absolutely butchering names to the point where it's insulting? Fair enough! But if they are trying and falling short, I truly don't care. For example, I personally wouldn't go watch a video by an Indian guy and be like "wow dude, work on your pronunciation of English words!" Or if a Mexican guy did a video on the history of Canada and pronounced Vancouver as "Bancouber," I wouldn't say anything to him either, because why should I expect the perfect pronunciation of something that isn't in his native tongue? He did his best, I understood him, I move on, I literally don't even think twice about it. However, it's interesting how when the roles are reversed, people don't hesitate to say "WOW WORK ON YOUR PRONUNCIATION LMAO," (not saying you said it like that btw, but most do) when a dude whose first language is English, and his pronunciation of Spanish words gets muddied up with his French pronunciation from school. So, I've just decided to do my best, and ignore those comments. 🙃🙃 haha you were the lucky first recipient of my opinion on the matter.

Franco had nothing to do with di Stefano going to RM. it was due to complicated ownership rights in South America and Barca stupidly negotiating with the wrong team. It’s also important to point out that Franco was an Atletico Madrid (Atletico Avion as they were known at the time) fan and only started using Real Madrid during the 50’s due to success in the European Cup.
