The problem with modern science, as an astrodynamicist I know for a fact, is that it only deal with what it can observe, which makes the 13.7 billion years age of the universe as an observable universe. The one unobserved cannot be mapped by the universe due to epistemic uncertainty (what you dont know, you dont know). Christians will often say to me, but if they have so much knowledge how come they pray to a man made sculpture? I then explain to them that it is a representation. A physical way for someone to have an object to direct their attention and devotion to and that when for instance meditating on the image of Lord Ganapati, it is the qualities and the meaning of the symbols that is being meditated on, not just an image but what the image represents. One cycle of the above four yugas is one mahayuga (4.32 billion solar years) A manvantara consists of 71 mahayugas (306,720,000 solar years). Each Manvantara is ruled by a Manu. After each manvantara follows one Sandhi Kala of the same duration as a Krita Yuga (1,728,000 = 4 Charana). (It is said that during a Sandhi Kala, the entire earth is submerged in water.) A kalpa consists of a period of 1,728,000 solar years called Adi Sandhi, followed by 14 manvantaras and Sandhi Kalas. Kindly understand that dharma is not the same as religion. What is dharma? Dharma has the Sanskrit root dhri, which means “that which upholds” or “that without which nothing can stand” or “that which maintains the stability and harmony of the universe.” Dharma encompasses the natural, innate behavior of things, duty, law, ethics, virtue, etc. Every entity in the cosmos has its particular dharma - from the electron, which has the dharma to move in a certain manner, to the clouds, galaxies, plants, insects, and of course, man. I am not religious. But ive had some amazing experiences. Including out of body experiences. Hinduism is the only religion that lines up with the things I've seen. Shiva is ultimate absolute reality nonduality of everything that exists. so, shiva is everything that exist. including mahavisnhu of the multiverse. once brahma and visnhu were fighting to prove who is superior. then shiva appeared from the infinite pillar of flame and they realised shiva is infinite and they are nothing compared to shiva. shiva is cause of all causes. energy (shakti) can never be created nor destroyed. shiva is one with it in nonduality. hence he is eternal. this how gods become god. its easy to understand. singularity always exists. nothing creates it like a paradox. because you need a background for everything to exist and we can call it advaita brmh nonduality. vedant explains everything.

Also the story you are referring to is from the shiv puran which refers to the story of that manvantar . (According to which I've heard from my parents and grand-parents ) :-)

Sharabha Upanishad and Rudra Hridayopanishad, Rig Veda.IX.96.5 says Vishnu is Shiva’s and Uma’s son… Mahadeva himself came as Vishnu cause Vishnu is known as shiva's shipivista form. Let's check it in Vedas :- Sri Rudram from yajurveda says: "Namo bhavaya cha rudraya cha namah sharvaya cha pashupataye cha namo girishaya cha shipivishhtaya cha|" (Anuvaka 5) "Salutations to Him who is the source of all things. And to Him who is the destroyer of all ills. Salutations to the destroyer and to the protector of all beings in bondage. Salutations to Him who dwells on the mount and who is in the form of Shipivista (Vishnu)" From the above verses we learn that Rudra(Shiva) is the Source of all, protector and destroyer. Means he alone does the "Srushti", "Sthiti" and 'Laya". Note the highlight which says Shiva exists as Lord Vishnu. "Sipivista"is the epithet used extensively in Vedas for Vishnu. "sá yád dhruvam disam ánu vyácalad vísnur bhütvanuvyàcalad virájam annadim krtvá |" (Atharva Veda 15:14:5) "He (Vrata/Shiva), when he went away to the stedfast region, went away having become Vishnu.. There're multiple Shivas and Vishnus as there're multiple universes each one having it's own Brahma Vishnu Shiva. And all above this is parbrahma having no form the ultimate universe, the nature, the energy around us and within us, in every atom. And that's how you differentiate between attaining moksha or going to heaven. By attaining moksha your body energy (tatva/ soul) gets merged from where it came and that is, parbrahma. On the other hand by going to heaven you'll have to take rebirth in one of the universes, you'll be in this endless cycle of birth and death, tied with the burden of Karma. And attaining moksha isn't easy, it takes continuous dedication towards God for many births. First understand your Dharma then debate on foolish topics
