It was my favorite movie of all time. It makes me proud of my pioneer ancestors and what they had to go through . It should make every American proud.

My maternal grandfather was born in 1868. His daughter-in-law was born in the Dakota Territory. They were children of Swedish immigrants. My dad's mother was born in the same territory. Their history is more inline with this movie as they English (before the Union of the Crowns) colonialist in the Carolina Colony. They migrated to the Appalachia and then to the Ohio area and then finally settled in Iowa where the bulk of my family are today. So this movie really brings home my family's history.

I'll bet the native Americans who were killed and whose lands were stolen weren't feeling proud about the white settlers

It was Cinerama. Three cameras synchronized projecting on three movie screens, so you were literally surrounded by the action. Newman's music was magnificent, as it had to be to complement that extravaganza movie.

I seen the movie How the West was won at the Atco Drive In on U.S.30(White Horse Pike) in Atco, New Jersey on Monday night, July 6, 1964. It was a great movie, great cast, it’s one of my all time favorite movies. The movies back then in the 1960’s are quality. The actors, actresses didn’t get it easy, they all had to work very hard compared to the garbage that is made today.

17:40 The part where it goes from the dying days of the Old West to the then modern-day is probably my second-favorite scene after the Cheyenne raid on the wagon train (the music for that scene on Side A).

Yes. She passed one day after her daughter by broken heart. Debbie Reyonolds most famous movie was Singing in the rain with Gene Kelly. My beloved Dad was a big Western Fan and passes away this March, my big Brothers favoured Movie was Singing in the Rain and he died at the age of 46. So Debbie Reynolds is (unwillingly) a sad piece of my own past.

Very sturring soundtrack-of course, a movie like this could never be made by the woke regime we live under..genocide, murders of native Americans, patriotism ("Shenandoah", "Battle Hymn of the Republic"); it is horrible!
